@hotdoggy41 Sea snakes have very toxic venom glands that will block your nervous system which stops the signals getting to your brain which can lead to heart / brain failure since no signals are happening which will kill you. Don't ever screw with a Sea snake. :P

Sea snakes are harmless to humans cause it's very rare for them to attack, so you're friend there it's not being courageous or badass, he's just being an asshole. When you're an 'expert' in anything involving nature, you learn to respect it.

If anybody's wondering what kind of snake that might be:

It could be a "Beaked Sea Snake" Enhydrina Schistosa, which is a very highly venomous snake. It has more killings than any other sea snake. Or maybe it is a Astrotia Stokesi which is also very dangerous.

I was chasing one myself a couple of months ago while snorkeling. My adrenaline was pumping because i had never seen one before. But i started thinking that maybe i would die while chasing it so i stopped...now i will kill myself instead

Mobility on land for most sea snakes are minimal and they're not aggressive at all. Even the most poisonous sea snake will not bite until the very end, except for a few species.
