  • looks cool but its all a karate rip off

  • @Deathly it's nit about belt rank......I know plenty of white belts who can beat grandmasters but still do not posses the knowledge that grandmaster has.

  • So beautiful well done

  • I'm a second degree black belt and my grand master trained chuck Norris and I'm not kidding when I say some of our white belts could kick a grandmasters ass

  • Are you able to train yourself in this marshal art?

  • It has begun!!

  • This is a pretty good demo

  • grand master khalid anounced to my instructors that instead of black belts we will be receiving midnight blue belts. has anyone receive one of these yet?

  • @robdensmore

There is talk of having belts for Taekwondo competition midnightblue being one of them. The belts will only be worn in comps to show what level of competitor you are. Tangsodo will probably follow

  • Part of my Tang Soo Do training has given me confidence in tense situalitions. This confidence allowed the situations to difuse instead of escalate, more than once. So by definition, it works.

  • africavsworld, sorry to hear that. But its may not be the style so much as you not taking the time to be proficient. Boxing and Martial Arts fight with differnet rules. So not sure how you compare. The rules are there to protect you and allow you to train safely. If you lost in a fight, perhaps you need to figure out why you were in the fight in the first place. Miagi say,Karate for defense only. AND he says, Best Defense... No Be There. Wise words from someone reportedly to never trained

  • true masters at work

  • South Korea begins to copy the Japanese martial arts from the late 20th century. Individual martial arts was not developed in the Joseon Dynasty(Korea). Taekwondo, Haidong Gumdo, Kumdo, Hapkido, Yudo is nothing to the history of Korea.

Taekwondo copied the Shotokan Karate. Haidong Gumdo and Kumdo copied Kenjutsu and Kendo. Hapkido copied the Daitoryu Jujutsu and Aikido. Yudo copied Judo. Hwa Rang Do is not historical martial arts. Hwa Rang is dancer in the Silla and Kogryo Dynasty.

  • cool guys, cool movie, but funny korean style.plunder Tang Soo Do is originated from gojyuryu karate(剛柔流空手) japan.why you choose korean counterfeit art? pls teach me...shameless fraud korean.

JAPAN EXPO Paris will open within 48 hours!!!!!stop exhibiting fake kendo, korean Haidong Gumdo!!!!

  • join the Tang Soo Do Network, Meet New and Old Freinds Online at TangSooDoOnline(dot)com

  • Fantastic.....Well done!

  • What is the difference between Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan and Tang Soo Do Mi Guk Kwan? I heard they have the same roots: Kwan Jai Nim Hwang Kee.

  • @ChessWCM888 they were both modernized by two different people and both have different techniques and customs

  • it dosent take 3 years for a black belt maby 2 years and i take it 3 days a week but we train alot harder than most do and out class is 2 hours long my master is grand master johnson

  • totally amazing. this is so awesome

  • they're horrible. they missed every strike!

  • @gavin32 xD bro they didnt ''miss'' its called 1-4step sparrign 1 person punches the other blocks and counters or so on and so fourth

  • In Tang Soo Do while training 2 or three days a week, and supporting your organization by going to events, you can expect to reach 1st Dan (black Belt) in approximately 3.5 years.

To go from 1st to 2nd - another 2 years

    2nd to 3rd - another 3 years

    3rd to 4th (master) another 4 years

So 12.5 or more years to reach 4th dan, master level.

    ++++

On the video - truly fantastic. I would expect nothing less from Mi Guk Kwan. GM Ferraro has some great people in his organization Tang Soo!

  • yayz

  • i will never get this and i am in tang soo do

  • You are called Masters for very good reason. I had a chance to see you both in real setting and can confirm that the video is a shadow.

  • no it takes about 3 and a half years training 2 or 3 times a week and if your rellay good

  • I am currently practicing Tang Soo Do. My instructor is great. I can learn much from him

  • i take tang soo do and i am close to black belt

  • My name is Gabriel, I am a practitioner of Tang Soo Do MGK from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I just wanted to tell you that I really like your video because the forms are 100% syncronized, which I know is very difficult to get even after years of practicing. Every time I watch this kind of videos I value and like more and more TSD MGK.

    Tang Soo!!!

  • @23515492 i also practice tang soo do what belt are you and you are right about the video tang soo!

  • @saminator4497 I am e dan, and what about you tang soo!

  • how long does it take to get a black belt in tang soo do?

  • Comment removed

  • about 3 1/2 years if you train full time 5 days a week.

  • thanks

  • @dlreed i would say 3 and a half years training 2 or 3 times a week if your exceptionally good at it

  • @dlreed untrue u can get it in 3 and a half years traing 2 times a week

  • @dlreed Hey , im doin tang so do in holland this is an awesome goal to go for ;p, to beb able to do this would be plain awesome :d

  • .... I trained Tang Soo Do for a while in NL - In 84 I think it was. Later trained in Arizona. Great style, a lot of great technics. I later went into MT and Karate.

  • @dlreed also depends on the studio. Some studios go quicker through the gup belts than others...

  • @Necrobotics It depends on the dojo and you. I got mine in about 5 years (I train 3-4 days a week). Some people in my dojo took longer.

  • @Kelfam48230

Dojo is a Japanese term. Tang Soo Do is Korean and would use the term Dojang instead.

  • @Necrobotics To reach the rank of master it may only take that long, but to fully master the art can take a lifetime. The mastery of technique, application to combat and lifestyle, and the pursuit of perfection is an ever extending path.

  • @Necrobotics where I did it it took me 5 years

  • @Necrobotics There isn't a black belt in tang soo do, it's a midnight blue. But yes, 3 and a half years.

  • @Necrobotics depending on if you train effectively and you are good enough, then maybe 3 years too

  • Pretty cool, they did a very good job

  • Depends on the style you prefer.

  • @PerseusHero I know a lot about Tang Soo, I've trained in it for 23 years!!!

At least I know how to spell mate...

  • Zaarah2377 heres a nickle go buy yourself a fucking clue'

  • Zo dan,Jacky Chan eat your heart out, haha.Wat een toppers, helemaal geweldig dit!!!

  • C"mon...Really?

  • Wow, do you guy's like train in Tang soo do or just practice being dance partners? You have 4th dan belts...act like it and train in the art not the flair...belt wearers!!!

  • @Zaarah2377 It's *forms* you fool

  • @PyroDijckhoff I don't get it? *forms* the last time I checked have nothing to do with what they are doing...

  • Comment removed

  • This is Soooo cool! Any way of getting a better quality video. This would be great to encourage my son and his fellow students create (join) the demo team that we parents want to establish.

  • lol do u know what teakwon-do is?

  • go ahead explain what taekwon do is...if you could, explain what tang soo do is too, the movement look very similar to me, cept taekwon-do is a weaponless art. (so i was told when i started it. ITF style) but i'm interested in the explanation.

  • Very very nice form! Love this video.

  • it looks like taekwon-do

  • Uhmm...Bruce Lee is still FTW.

  • impresionantes 100*******************

  • i dont respond to many vids but i just have to say that this video is a complament to Tang Soo Do in a whole. The way they switch between forms and actual techniques embodys the spirit of um and yang. Also did i see some techniques from the begining form from Sip Soo and Baisai? either way bravo and ka map su ni da!

  • good

  • cool vid

  • a very long time ago i studied under Daniel Pope i dont know how far he has made it then he was a wonderful instructor when i was his student, wish i could have stayed in his classes but at the time my family had some problems and i could no longer attend his school

  • awesome video...

  • Wow...I do Tang Soo Do, but i'm only green belt. I'll never be as good as these guys O.o

  • Heh cool I'm a Green Belt too!

  • Awesome ^_^ I'll hopefully be a tag by the end of August, fingers crossed

  • Good luck to ya! :P

  • Thanks, i'm gonna need it XD

  • Haha! My instructor told me for his Masters degree Black Belt, he had to sit in a room for 12 hours and keep his legs crossed (Indian style) Until midnight and THEN do his actual test! Now that would SUCK!!!

    P.S. - Friends? I sent you an invite. :]

  • ouch! XD in our club its customary for new black belts to take an extra challenge XD not a real thing, just for fun but hard as hell lol

    and sure ^_^

  • practice hard and always do your best and someday you'll be

  • Is Wing Chun better than All Tang Soo Do?

  • To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself. Thus the good fighter is able to secure himself against defeat, but cannot make certain of defeating the enemy.

  • lol... good one

  • i do both

  • wing chun is kung fu. Tang soo do is not

  • hey Electrobussterr, i do not mean to be rude but all Martial Arts a good its not which is better it how well adapted you are to it. Your question has been answered.

  • @electrobussterr Tang Soo Do has broken off from Soo Bahk Do but SOo Bahk is a Lovely and great art! Wing Chun is a nice art as well but they are 2 different styles so you cant really compare.

Many people always try to compare arts but they all have there signatures and beautiful in there own way! I have trained in Kick Boxing for about 4 years and a little in Wing Chun but have been doing Soo Bahk Do for a few ywears now and its a lovely art and my favourite!!!

Hope that helps a little ;-)

  • @electrobussterr lol tang soo do is in translation is "Martial Arts in Tang(a China destiny). why do you have to compare the martial art with same root?

  • @electrobussterr I'm no master but have trained in karate and tang soo do. based on my experience and interviews i've seen with grand masters, it's not about the style, but the individual. I believe Yip man, the Grand master of Wing chun who trained Bruce Lee said that, i'm just quoting him.

  • i do tang soo do under grandmaster lee uk and im a senior 1st dan going for 2nd dan

  • how many grandmasters r there? i thought it was shin alone 4ever but now apparently theres a bunch more. and ya im a black belt in shins style

  • theirs loads of grandmaster GM lee (uk) GM H.C (GM hawng son) GM kim (ITF) GM shin(WTF) GM pak (hwa rang TSD) there's a who's who of tang soo do practitioners on the internet somewhere if i find it ill send it to you

  • o and one more thing that you might like. GM shin was chuck Norris TSD instructor

  • whos your regional instructor? or du train central

  • wats the difference between tang soo do by grandmaster shin, and tang soo do mi guk kwan by grandmaster ferrero? i take tang soo do by shin, and i asked around the do jang about this other style but i stillent a clue wat it is. TELL ME PLZ

  • i was told ferraro was a student of master beaudoin and left. it seems basically the same to me except theyve added in the chil sung and yuk ro forms (i think) like other tsd associations.

  • i still dont get it, wtf is tang soo do mi guk kwan?

  • Funky Shotokan

  • excellent job. I haven't seen in one in the International Tang Soo Do Federation do that!! Good Job!

  • This makes me feel like a failure. XD

I need to start practicing some Tangsoodo. I'm a 2nd degree in Taekwondo, and I want to get better at that. :)

  • im glad it got better.good job

  • amazing form, bravo

  • Cool video! Nice kicks.

  • really is very great, I uused to practice tang soo this martial art i've in my spirit & i love it...A great honor see those type videos thakns TANG SOO...

  • this is awesome video...... im a black belt in tang soo do

  • Really cool video and cool form. Reminds me of Chinese martial arts (I practice Northern Shoulin). I enjoy watching forms and techniques from different martial arts- why not appreciate instead of criticize?

  • Thank You for posting this video. It is a True representation of the ART.

  • it,s realy amazing

    greatings from Holland

    Tang Soo

  • WOW!..

    Great techniques, great perfomance, great vid..(-;

    5 starz!

    keep on doin'

  • No, tae kwon do is a counterpart to tae kwon do. There are many other korean martial arts. The difference is tang soo do appears to be a soft and armed martial art. Like Hwarangdo tae kwon do uses it's hard/soft style for conditioning the body and kicking techniques.

  • @Hawtcha

Tang Soo Do as taught in Moo Duk Kwan starts as a hard style, and progressively softens as a student advances into higher ranks of dan level. It was traditionally an empty handed art, meaning no weapons. When weapons became popular in the 80's many Tang Soo Do schools started working them in to get more business. As a rule, Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan is not a weapon art. The staff form was not taught in the 70's and before. At least not in the U.S., I cannot speak to Korea..

  • @Hawtcha

Tae Kwon Do was supposed to be the unification of all the Korean Kwans under one central Korean martial art. Politics, egos, and government got in the way of this vision, and this is why you will see several styles or different kinds of Tae Kwon Do. Tae Kwon Do had a few names in the earlier days as the grandmasters of the various Kwans discussed it.

Tae Kwon Do is recognised as the Korean national sport.

  • @BeerlyStanding Ah! The name makes so much more sense now :o) I'm sorry if I mixed up some of the information. If I remember correctly Tae Kyon was the primitive version of our modern Tae Kwon Do. I am very curious to know how these lineages set foot.

  • tae kwon do was a form of fighting used by the Korean government. Tang soo do was created by the Korean peasants as a way to defend themselves against soldiers who were fighting isung tae kwon do.

  • Tae Kwon Do didn't exist in any form prior to the mid-1950's. Prior to that, during the 35 year Japanese military occupation, indigenous Korean martial arts like Kwon Bup and Taekyon were outlawed.

When the Japanese Occupation ended in 1945, the Korean Martial Arts were a collection of separate Kwans. Tang Soo Do being the chosen name of the art by several of them. Moo Duk Kwan, Chun Do Kwan, for example. Now, much later Mi Guk Kwan, all are names that define the STYLE of the Art.

  • 5 stars!

  • Gets better and better everytime I watch it.

One of the best moves of tang soo do ive seen.

  • Very Nicely Done :)

  • Great video! Such a nice 2-man set, and so long. Many, many hours of work went into that. Awesome. =:-p

  • interperative dance? :P i jk i jk nice work! planning to start tang soo do on tuesday :D

  • KJN Charles Ferraro founder of Mi Guk Kwan had been a longtime member of the Soo Bahk Do (Tang Soo Do) Moo Duk Kwan Federation. sometime in the mid-90's he broke away from the USSBDMDK Federation to start his own.

  • Great video guys! Thank you.

    tang Soo

  • great vid guys! i'm an Ee dan in soo bahk do moo duk kwan. this vid had flawless technique, as far as i was concerned, and it was almost spot on to what sa bom nims do in soo bahk do moo duk kwan. can someone tell me...is there a difference between these two arts other than their name? i'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

    keep up the good work

    Soo bahk!

    (Tang Soo!) :)

  • I, to, am an Ee Dan, but in Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan. And there is no difference between Soo Bahk Do and Tang Soo Do other than the name. Of course, every association will have slight differences in their interpretations of forms, but Soo Bahk Do and Tang Soo Do are the same style.

    Tang Soo! :-)

  • I guess some people can't appreciates other peoples Martial Arts style. You know Martial Art is not about competition it's an art and everyone is at there level, this demonstration is not a competition but to show the beauty of the art, but if you can't see that then I guess you feel you need to mock it.

  • Another great comment! Why do these idiots feel they have to down other arts? Does it make them feel better about theirs? Thats the only reason I can think of is that they are trying to make their art look oh so powerful well as far as I'm concerned they can learn what you want and I will learn what I want adn I don't need to down other arts to feel good about mine.

  • Kudos!

  • The kicks sucked? Yeah right, could you do any better? I bet not!

  • The kicks sucked?? Yeah ok, go to your dance class and have fun!

  • I noticed every youtuber thinks they're the #1 martial artists just from watchign Jet Li movies.

These kicks were meant to deliver pain, not look fancy and useless like WuShu.

    Well said Dan.

  • There is no martial art that is #1. All arts has strengths and weaknesses. The two masters in this video are skilled artists. Powerfull but graceful. Tang Soo!

  • Capoeira is just for show. Its a cool martial art but not effective because you waste to much time ginging.

  • This looks to me like a demonstration for show. I am sure what they teach for self-defense is quite different!

  • Tang Soo Do is actually a very effective means of self-defense. It is even taught at some of the police academies in PA. None of what is done here is meant to be "effective" in street self defense, but as you put is beautiful & impressive. And no, you did not sound rude, but you probably have never met a TSD instructor who would show you the self-defense aspect of the art. Good luck with your training & maybe hope to see some of you guys doing your thing some time. I look forward to it

  • Well first off, I wouldn't be walking down he street in a "bad neighborhood, late at night." That is just dumb. Tang Soo Do is a good form of self defense. All systems have their strengths and weaknesses. Tang Soo Do is a striking art, I encourage all students to obtain ground fighting and grappling. NO one are is superior. In my humble opinion.

    Respectfully submitted!

  • Ground fighting has its place in martial arts but if your being attacked by 5 guys the last place you want to do is take a guy to the ground. Thats why a striking art like tang soo do can be effective. Hit the first guy use him as a shield hit the second guy then run like hell lol.

  • yea no offence m8 bt who asked ur recommendation, every1 shuld no by now the best style is.....2 hav no style, 2 be adaptive to each situation you find yourself in (martial art-wise) also street fighting sucks, it has a shite philosophy, no respect or discipline its just a THUG's way of fighting, pinning ur knee's on sum1's shoulders then panning there head in til it's lik a fucking tomato, were is the skill in that? if ur gud enuf, u'll let a guy get back up 2 make the same mistake again!

  • # 1 if your system is so efficient than why are you defending it so viciously and taking such offence to something not supposed anyone.

    # 2 it's a youtube - m8 - people write their opinion (where it says post comment.)This system better be eficient, b/c someone as intelligent as you are would need the best training just to be able to cross the street.

Finally, when your life is on the line: the last thing on your mind is a "fair" play - survival of the fittest - all that matters

  • what? not effective?

    ???????????

  • I think it's a foregone conclusion that anyone watching a form is not doing so to learn the secrets of street self defense. That's not what it's purpose is. It shows a proficiency of control and technique, an artful expression of the style's characteristics.

I am not sure where you would get the idea that this has much to do with street self-defense. Your sour grapes are simply to plug your own school and style. Be more positive. You don't need to put others down to bring yourself up.

  • Well said! That is exactly what needs to be done.Respect your art and other arts. Also why does everybody expect us traditional martial artists to fight with our hands like in the movies. If a gang of retarded punks ever jumps me hell if I'm gonna tire myself out fighting them and then get stabbed,I might fight one or two guys with my hands but a whole gang no I gonna pull out the old 1911 and see how many holes I can make.I am a martial artist not a moron. You would be a fool to limit yourself.

  • wow i do tang soo do myself and am a black belt and have performed in front of these instructors, and know them persoinally no lie! they are amazing! one of them is master coff and the other is master talivera!

  • Inspiring.

  • Very inspiring. I do San Kil Tang Soo Do and I love training. my dad and i are going to work on putting together a demonstration like this with just the two of us. it is also very refreshing to see proper technique on the internet! =) love it

  • Indeed, tell me about it.

  • Awesome video! I just joined a TSD school, and, even though it's pretty different than what I'm used to, I'm enjoying it a lot.

  • Welcome to Tang Soo Do, you should enjoy it. What federation is your club under?

  • World Tang Soo Do federation, I think? Not sure, just started it, really.

  • Incredibly well done. Undoubtable the best Tang Soo Do I've seen on YouTube so far.

  • Lovely Demonstration!

  • Very nice demostration, but Tang Soo Do is the Art with "EMPTY HANDS" so why you use BO?

  • Wtf are you talking about? Tang Soo Do has weapons in it. Its also not the art of "EMPTY HANDS", literally translated its the way of the Chinese fist.

  • Their needs to be more TSD demos on YouTube. Espicially when it comes to the self-defence aspect...

  • qual a relação do "Mi Guk Kwan" com o "Moo Duk Kwan"?

  • "Mi Guk Kwan" as in "American school"?? What does "Mi guk" mean unless it is the Korean word for America (USA)?

  • "Mi Guk" means beautiful country a term used to define America.

  • Very nice body control, no matter what art it is, or what rank. I still enjoy the traditional side of martial arts, and this was no let down.

    Very nice.

  • This is one of the best TSD Demonstrations I've seen on YouTube to date. It's been around for awhile, and I'm glad someone uploaded it. Excellent!

  • you really make us look "fantastic",first time watching this video,,,,MI GUK KWAN SCHOOL OWNER IN FLORIDA................

  • It's cool...being in TSD, I recognize pretty much all of the techniques used here, and drill most(some are higher ranked techniques than I am to). I drill crescent kicks like these men do-kicking over a partner's head. We wear padding, of course, but it is nice to see these two awesome practitioners doing it full speed and unprotected. I've just started some of these staff techniques. I've got a ways to go before i'm as good as this pair...

  • Damn, these guys are good. Well of course they are, they ARE both Master ranks(red stripe on belt signifies a Master, or 4th degree blackbelt minimum. These two guys are higher, I believe. I practice Tang Soo Do myself, have for many years now.

  • One to the most IMPRESSIVE displays of Tang Soo Do I've seen to date. Speed, power, precision, balance, and true to form...all there! My hat off to these fine masters for their representation. I feel Kwang Jang Nim Hwang Kee would be most proud as I'm sure GM Ferro is!

    Tang So!
