  • I JUST got what my doctor calls an "Engraved Invitation". I have to get my yearly E.G.D. It's scheduled for March 23 this year. 4 years ago, I was violently ill, & had a Mallory-Weiss tear - a tear in the esophagas Now, I have to get this every year to check on the SLOW healing! Dang my body! I've got ENOUGH troubles!

  • Thanks

  • Thank you so much for this posting. My mother is having her EDG done on Monday. She has lost a lot of weight and I pray that her results come back normal.

  • Ive had it done before, its not painful at all, probably the least painful surgical procedure out there.

  • Thanks for the video. I have an EGD scheduled for Friday and your video was very reassuring. Really kind of you to share your experience.

  • Hi, I also am having this on May 6th and was totally freaking out about it. Thanks for the video and the help. You eased my fears a lot.

  • Hey Tom,

I'm a 21 year old female and I'm completely healthy besides the fact that I've been having breathing problems lately and I'm getting an EGD on Monday. I'm a little bit nerrvous about it, just because I'm afraid I will stop breathing when they give me anesthesia. How long were you in the hospital. Do you have any words of comfort for me? Haha!

  • The EGD only takes about 10-15 mins. I was there for probably 1 hr after that waking up and getting my instructions from my doctor. It was no big deal at all. You will do just fine.

  • Hi Tom,

Thank You for posting this very informative video.I will be having my Endoscopy May 29.I do feel more at ease thanks to you.

I am preparing for surgery (hopefully)in early July.I wish you all the best on your journey.

    XO Sissy

  • Glad I could be of help to you. Only thing to add to this video was that I did get really exhausted later that night. Might want to plan on resting after and not getting much done just in case. Tom

  • I will have this procedure done tomorrow morning in preparation for the Lap-Band surgery. Thank you very much for the informative video. It definitely calms my nerves to know that it really isn't that big of a deal. How long after the procedure does it take before you start to feel normal? How long are you left feeling groggy? Thanks again!!

  • Hi There. I left the center about 30-45 mins after the procedure. I felt totally normal in about 1.5 hrs. I had lunch out and was shopping about an hour after surgery. I did crash later that night and got really tired. But no big deal. Good luck with your lapband. Check out my contest this week. Cheers! Tom

  • Glad things are moving along smoothly for you!

  • Cant wait to watch your updates: )A new friend,Mary

  • One step closer!!

  • You know it! I go to the nutritionist at 8am Monday. See ya after :) (HI EMMA!!)

  • I had that done too when they thought I had ulcers like 5 years ago. I actually remember seeing stuff on the screen a few times which is weird..I remember thinkin HEY THATS INSIDE MY STOMACH! Thats about it though, and saying stupid stuff to the nurses when I was coming out from under the anesthesia.

  • Great informative video, Tom. I am glad everything went well and soon you will be APPROVED. Good luck.

  • Getting closer Tom!! Woo hoo!! Love the picture!!

  • Say that ten times fast.

  • OK it was 730 and I was still sleeping when doing this video. I say in the beginning that they are going to examine my stomach and then then beginning part of my large intestines. It's the SMALL intestines.(the duodenum to be specific) Sorry about that. Tom

  • Tom, thank you so much for doing this video. I am scared the most about this procedure more than anything else. You really put me at ease! So glad everything went smoothly for you. Blessings,Danielle

  • My Pleasure Danielle. I forgot to mention after they asked me questions and before they pushed the meds they had me put a mouth guard in. This is just a plastic piece that would stop me from biting their camera if I woke up or something. Don't worry about the procedure. It was nothing. Cheers!! Tom

  • Great video Tom,very imformative for those that have to go through this! One more step closer!! Take it easy the rest of the day!!love ya, Amy

  • Thanks Amy. I can't believe after Monday they can finally submit to the insurance company for approval. I will feel so much better knowing I have that! Thanks for your kind comments. Cheers! Tom
