  • Fake gay.

  • That did NOT look beautiful lol. But eye of the beholder and all that blah blah

  • "Perception is reality" eliminates attentive understanding. Moreover, it inherently excludes perspective. Once perspective is introduced into any situation, it is no longer "reality."

If something is "real" (truly real) then it must be real for everyone. We all start with reality... when we throw our thoughts into the mix... it is no longer real. Because now it is different dependent upon how it is interpreted. And, interpretation is unique to an individual.

  • Yes we KNOW a lot of air brushing goes into these things & we KNOW that "even the women in the magazines don't look like the women in the magazines". But it doesn't change the fact that we all want to look like that, or that if they stopped air brushing the magz/ beauty products won't sell. And come on, that stuff about "inner beauty" & "eye of the beholder" -- it's become so trite, even when it's used ironically. What's the solution here?

  • i'm looking at all these comments, and all i could think is... your all a bunch of gays!

  • The real beauty is inside, not out side

  • Way better before, the after is way too fake.

  • I only came here to make a 'meet the engineer' reference

  • i think that she was pretty to begin with

  • ... her face was fat before.

  • She looked better before

  • she looked fine before the makeup

  • Sorry, but i'm not attracted to synthetic women. The before looked a lot better.

  • @DjDayOne I was just going to say the same thing. She looks better at the beginning.

  • people are naturally shallow. nothing wrong with that.

  • @RacAdish there is something wrong with that

  • @TheKatyLady1 not necessarily. people make judgements on other people based on what they look like (when meeting for the first time) before personality. it has to do with natural selection, and what one thinks are good genes that belong to the person in question. if someone perceives someone else as unattractive, it is a subconsious message to that person that they may not have the genes they are looking to pass on. there's some science for you.

  • @RacAdish I dunno about that. I had a really good friend in college that was unattractive. Just from speaking with him for less than 5 minutes I really wanted to be his friend. No homo, just that he had a great personality.

  • @InternetLawman yeah, you wanted to be "his friend" not persue a dating type relationship.

  • And so many women are jealous of a computer generating image

  • @IronBridgeSoldier because men would rather fuck that than real people

  • vsauce army

  • beauty is distorted in our perception.

  • 0:39 -0:50 wow. just wow

  • it would be better if they just stop at the makeup and not of edit her cause honestly she doesn't seem to present the same natural look when edited

  • @moneyjr1122 that, sadly, is the whole point of the editing. all girls look like angels sent from heaven. yet 9 out of 10 girls don't look like that when i see them on the streets (not saying they arent pretty, but they aren't angels) Also. do you think that thouse skinny manekins you see on fashion shows are natural? course not, i never(and i am not kidding) NEVER saw a girl thats that skinny in real life. it just sickens me.

  • I wonder how it made the model feel? to be like... "why did you need me at all?"

  • Beeuty is in the I of the beeholder.

  • Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder.

  • But that girl was pretty from the start. Now she's just pretty and wearing make up.

  • This is the world that we are living folks, fake lies fake lies

  • Perception of beauty isn't distorted. Evolution has caused us innately to be more attracted to people with symmetrical faces and other body features like hip to waist ratio and smooth skin. It's a survival mechanism

  • @Gright Yes but it has been proven that people are more turned on from what society tells them to be turned on from if society told you the girl was sexy without the makeup people would be more turned on

  • @TheKatyLady1 Actually Society tells me makeup is sexy and all manekins have to be skelletons, and yet i get turned on by watching tom boys with an average belly. it depends on how itellectual you are in a way. the more clarified of a situation you are, the less you mindlessely follow it. lets say. if you never went to school. you tended to follow what other people told you to do (thats what happen for about 1000 years).

  • @TyX10 I am happy that you dont follow the sheep of what all other people are

  • @TyX10 Im am glad you arent a sheep that follows what everyone else tells you to think :)

  • She looks like an alien after the pic is photoshopped. >.>

  • Beauty is in the eye of the bee-holder. muahahahha!

  • @HannahTheScribe Why is unrealism necessarily not beautiful? There is a difference between artificiality that opposes nature and artificiality that seeks to duplicate it. The image in the final product of this advertisement could not be told apart from a naturally beautiful woman with a reasonable amount of makeup on. The only reason you deem her "not beautiful" is because you're aware that she isn't real, but admiration (i.e. perception of beauty) cannot be intellectualized in that manner.

  • 2 bad its still not the same person, fail

  • I seen this before. and in the video "More Beautiful You" by Jonny Diaz, there is something similiar to this.

  • She is a little less unattractive in the end. The improvment comes when the computer is used.

  • Well I thought she was gorgeous from the start RAAAAWR!

  • I like how ugly fat bitches feel ugly and try to make fine girls look dum and not wanted.

  • @cwchickenwing

You'll find that the 'fine' girls are often the most shallow. Ask any 'fine' girl to leave her house without any makeup and with only a quick brush of her hair, nine out of ten will talk about how ugly they are. I'd call that pretty 'dumb', to put it nicely. Obviously this'll go straight over your head though, you're clearly as shallow as they are.

  • @trafficlights1 A human being is a human being based on who they are not on what they look like. If someone is pretty then let them be pretty. Just because your an uglyass bitch don't mean you got the right to hate on them. Your basing your "shallow" theory on most pretty girls without really getting to know them which makes you a hypocrite. If your an ugly girl then deal with it and realize that your beauty doesn't mean everything but it does realistically play a big role to men.

  • @cwchickenwing

Firstly, I'm male. Secondly, I do get to know the people I'm talking about - I wouldn't just make idiotic assumptions about people I don't know (as you clearly have with me.)

I have a lot of friends who look fine but won't leave their homes without hiding themselves in makeup, and anyway you've obviously completely missed my point. I'm complaining about people feeling the need to hide behin makeup - do you really think I care more about looks than personality?

  • @cwchickenwing "A human being is a human being based on who they are not on what they look like."

The problem with this statement is that there is no single "true" nature of any person; human identities are formed based on sum of their parts, and you therefore cannot exclude the physical body or its appearance from "who" a person is, any more than you could their mental processing, sensory experience, or personality characteristics.

  • my perspective and judgement of beauty is far beyond what is presented here in this video. shes is not necessarily ugly, but its not something that i can truly see as "beautiful" either.

  • At the risk of being bashed here, i wudnt call this distorting our perception of beauty. There are a few guidelines which our brain follows while deeming something as beautiful(mainly symmetry, also texture etc); an "algorithm" if u will. In the movies or adds real men and women, using methods shown here, are made to resemble what we are "programmed" to find beautiful. Our perception isnt distorted. The pple r distorted to conform to our prcptn, so much so they become unrealistic.

  • wrong they turned her into what we as primal beings wants. with adobe and lighting they turned a chunky average girl into what we want at a carnal level....dumb video is dumb

  • right at around 0:20-0:22....when the hair-dresser's hand covers the face...the person changes....you can see that clearly when u fast forward from 20-25...

  • Just Beautiful! Thank You!

  • I don't get it.From beautiful she became an ugly ass bitch.

  • She was beautiful to begin with.

  • Fast Forward from 20 to 25 then rewind back to 20.

    They're definitely two different women.

  • I want you to tell me who is pretty and who is not. Because I no longer know.

  • Contrary to it's 'overt' message, the underlying point of this advertisment is:

    - women are not 'good enough' as they are; and

    - they need to buy MANY products to be though of as beautiful

This ad does reveal that the women in ads do not really look as they do in those ads.

  • Beauty? They made her look like an android.

  • It'd be suprising if the public knew the truth...you can't even believe what you see these days anymore

  • >_> I hate how they want people to look so damn perfect

  • Shocking but true. Woman No. 2 indeed is far more attractive.

  • @kdpflanders1 That is true whay you are saying, however, i found original girl also beautiful from before they started transforming her.

  • the company that makes dove also makes axe.

    sad :(

  • Il problema maggiore è che anche i prodotti che acquistiamo sono abbelliti fino all'estremo, tutto ciò porta a una competizione sulla bellezza ed una retrocessione nella qualità dei prodotti.

  • They did so many unnecessary changes. They made her ears smaller, and lowered her eyes by a millimeter. I don't see the point in that. She doesn't even look human after it's all done!

  • perception of beauty has always been distorted.date back to the victorian times when women would wear corsets that pushed their organs and caused breathing issues just so they got that hour glass shape that was unrealistic. they also would not let any light in the house and painted their faces with led so they could look a lot more pale. in the 1920s you had to tinier than a pencil and wear way to much makeup.beauty only gets "real" when we accept ourselves bc we cant all b the same

  • I thought she was pretty in the beginning, fake and synthetic at the end. Natural beauty prevails.

  • she isn't beautiful

  • ok she may look better but, imo, i wouldnt say shes hot or pretty or anything...just more pleasant to look at (smooth skin + hair)...and...well fake

  • WE LIKE BITCHES PHOTOSHOP'D

  • It doesnt matter if your conciously aware that this is happening in advertizing or not.. the fact that it 'keeps' happening in repitative states is what 'conditions' your subconcious mind to become so 'famailiar' with it, thus subconciously accepting it.. *Even though you may think you dont..

  • I dont know guys, she was ugly in the beginning and in the end.

  • That is definately interesting, but frankly even at the end I didn't think she looked by any means 'beautiful'. The fact is though that this kind of extreme of modification is something that you would only really find in an advertisement like this, and let's face it, what kind of fucking moron thinks that advertisements doesn't stretch the truth? People may say that 'Hollywood' also does this, but actually, no, they don't. You can't photoshop people in a film.

  • Nice Video. I give it 7/10.

  • the makeup was pretty meh.

the photoshup guy knew what he was doing though.

  • wow she is f ugly

  • I'd say she's a four pint'er

  • Wow. The billboard photoshoped.... Don't deceive, Advertizers, don't... deceive.

  • Didn't look like they did that much to her honestly! She was beautiful when she went in.....they raised her eyebrows and elongated her neck.....so what.

  • The first time I saw this, it didn't have the "dove" part, and I don't remember music either.

  • yay

  • Ill bet who ever made this video is obese

  • anyone know the name of the song?

  • she looked way better before they even started putting makeup on her.

  • woooooooooooow

  • and b.t.w. she was better on the beggining, stretching her neck and widening her eyes make her look like a non-blue avatar!

  • but, she was already insanely hot from the beggining!!!! Id like to see they do that to Carrot Top !!!! At a point, Photoshop would probably open a warning message giving you the finger "You're asking for too much [finger sign]"!

  • Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

  • @Drakeybaby

    pretty wrong statment

  • I knew when bill clinton hook with monika levenksy in white house, I knew about monika's beauty

  • she is pretty anyway.

  • exactly

  • the 2 girls who passed by.... they felt ugly. Lol... So this is why vanity magz make us feel ugly, afterall its nothing but an optical illusion. Yezzz im still beautiful. Not so much but at least true, lol. ahahaha I love myself... well, we should XD

  • isnt it all about the golden ratio. the closer you are to the ratio the more beautiful? i think da vinci painted the mona lisa using the golden ratio and thats why she seems to llok at you wherever you go.

  • nah man she was cute in the beginning. dick.

  • um she's still ugly.

  • I wonder if the model takes it as a compliment or an insult....

  • As a job.

  • I hate how they modify her into an unrealistic form of perfection, it makes women feel ugly and bad.

  • Who gives a shit? I don't want to look at regular people in magazines - I see them all day.

  • @karmalies2 If you actually thought that people look like that then you are fucking retarded. I'm sorry but it's true.

  • Dont get fooled, That billboard poster isnt actually there - its edited into the video.

  • this is utter bullshit

  • Beauty is rare and its weird that it is.

  • really... Physics400 you must be depressed...not being rude...but you see what you want.

  • So before TV and advertising people didn't know the difference between who was attractive and who wasn't. I mean when I look at a nude woman and get an erection because I find her attractive its my own mind deceiving me into thinking this is what I like. Has TV really programmed me into NOT liking hefty girls, who have yellow teeth and smell bad?

  • A difference between instinctual drive and intellectual appreciation. Often we learn to abhore our natural tendencies.

  • @JEZUZ06 Beauty perception has to with own personal taste, science (there are some things pretty much all humans like) and then media. but media has always played a part, you can date back to the Egyptians (they even use to paint their lips red and line their eyes). In the 1800s women wanted hourglass bodies (they wore corsets to get this and it even caused serious issues) and pale skin (caused issues to depending on the extreme) So they did know, its just a lot more advanced.

  • at the start looks wise... on a scale from 1 to 10 with 10 being the best/hottest

    shes an 5.

but then she goes to 6,7,8,9, and at thee end shes hot 10!!!

  • omg thats just wrong ! them cheaters

  • ...I bet she's got great tits too!

  • This is a clever advert. It's purpose is to generate a demand and loyalty to a brand. The brief to the advertisers is not how can we tackle distorted perceptions of beauty but more "how can we generate allegiance and loyalty to our brand". In my view the board of this company would just as happily create a different message if it was deemed as a market winner. Real beauty is something you cannot photograph, advertise or show on you tube. It's about inner acceptance and outward grace.

  • So beautifully put

  • @glander06 Very true! And I'd say that the so-called "normal" women in the Dove ads happen to also still be more physically perfect than your average person on the street. Well, in my town anyway! : )

  • @glander06 WELL BLOODY SAID!

  • Beauty is an evolutionary device created by nature to assure the survival of the human race. Non-beauty is nature warning us that something might be diseased or poisonous. Hence, a diseased person looks "awful", while a healthy person looks "good." Thousands of years ago, beauty and ugliness were basic, but nowadays, it's very very refined, to the point that we can often ignore the difference. Still, beauty is a very valid and necessary tool that has steadily moved the human race forward.

  • favorited!

  • favorited

  • lol was that photoshop?

  • bullshit real beauty is still out there only not avaible to losers ;) or jealous ugly girls.

  • truuueee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lOL liked it very true too

  • A Bunch of Tint and a Bunch of Paint , will make a Woman what she AINT !

  • great video

  • No wonder women take so long to get ready!!!

  • Because of societies ideals or because of that painful neck stretching and eye boosting every time?

  • Both, it was a joke, but I do see it every day, these birds in my own town, trying to be something that they aren't infact alot of men do the same. I say f**k it, be WHO you are, not what others want you to be, (conform too).

  • aww i love dove and gok wang they both make me proud to be a curvy size 16 i love my "bangers" and so does my sexy ste xxxxxxxx

  • they made her eyes too big lol

  • this made me cry a little

  • what is the music we hear in the background?

  • it called .. dun dun dun dun dun ... du dun dun dund dundun dun .. okay i lied . but it sure does sound like it

  • this is true. Dont we all know that deep down...

  • If you really wanna know, I took 8 pics of myself and created 8 more from them with some ageing software and morphed each sequence with 2600 frames (50 years X 52 weeks) and then cut the 8 sequences together. For those of you that think you see the same frame repeated, sorry you're wrong although there are extremely subtle differences between successive frames in the morph sequence due to the fact that they're 2600 frames in length, I can assure you that no two frames are exactly identical.

  • She was good looking to begin with, but this just goes to show what is actually done!!

  • the part where they extended her neck was freaky

    not that anything else wasn't

  • yea but i still think you need a good base to start with.her face was above average so u cant say that.

  • that is sad.

  • nice!!!

  • We're all beautiful.

  • Comment removed

  • SO true, the perception of what's considered true beauty these days is so DISTORTED thanks to the media, Hollywood and the fashion industry.

  • No wonder so many more people are depressed these days.

These companies make a profit of making people feel like shit and make them buy, consume and spend their way to try and reach an image they can never obtain.

Whos anyone to say whats beautiful or not?

  • Passage D! <3

  • cool short but just as powerful a message.

  • I pooped

  • our Perception of beauty is highly influenced by homosexual vision of reality such as gays from hollywood, fashion designer or beautician.

  • @keiichibc

Yes our perception of beauty is influenced by gays in the fashion industry I mean look at how the girl has a very feminine face at the start "before the transformation" & look at her afterwards; she looks so mannish & yet we have so many people here saying that she looks HOT afterwards & that just goes to show "the influence" you talked of

The point of the video was to show that our perceptions of beauty have become kinda "unnatural" with the use of make-up, photoshop, etc

  • @supersach123 she looked a lot more girly. and trust me perception of beauty is not influenced by gays.

  • makes me think

  • nice movie...
