Pit Bull attacks man and is shot by police

I do believe that they were trying to restrain the dog by holding its back legs...coz I'm guessing it attacked them. Then broke free again which is why police showed up like a minute later after the attack as they were waiting for them.

Although in a sense you do feel a bit sorry for the pitbull, it isn't neccesarily the dogs fault, yes I know, the dog is bread simply to attack, but it isn't the dog's choice is it. They should not continue to be bread, they just should be stopped being bread

Using a pitbull as a therapy dog is dangerous and risky. What humans don't realize is the dog may be nice, but just one time and in a hospital none the less and that dog is going to lose its life. Why put the dog in a situation where this could happen? Use the dog for what it was bread for! Nobody is surprised when a Retriever likes water, the aren't surprised when Greyhounds can run fast, WHY would anyone be surprised that a pit bull will savagely attack? I really think you people are forgetting that pitbulls are not humans and do not think and process like humans. I also think your forgetting that pitbulls were not made to be therapy dogs, they were not made to be loving, caring and compassionate. These dogs were created for exactly the opposite of what we are using them for, and in my opinion shouldn't be used for. Animals act on instinct and gut feeling, that means they feel no pitty, remourse or guilt when they decide to attack!

@SkiDooChick I can understand that but any person with compassion and common sense would understand that there are millions of responsible pit bull owners. You are talking about one experience. Pit bulls are used as therapy dogs and some were used as search and rescue dogs after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the US. I volunteer at an animal shelter and they are the most loving dogs. They aren't the problem. Any owner of any dog should be held accountable for letting their dogs run loose.

@abbeyroad2005 This is war! You should absolutely carry a pocket knife, tear gas, and an object large enough for the dog to bite should it attack you, such as a rolled up newspaper or old coat. Google "cheapest tear gas" to find a dealer. Stab the dog in the eye as hard as you can as soon as it has a grip on you or something that you are holding. Be sure to immediately report any attacks to the police. Should the dog owner threaten you with violence, which happened to me, report that also.

On three different occasions, I have been attacked by pit bulls, but I have always managed to defend myself. One I hit in the head with rocks, one I sprayed in the eyes with tear gas, and one I stabbed in the eye with a knife. I should be allowed to walk down a street and not be subjected to an aggravated assault, especially since I pay taxes to maintain the street yet the welfare trash who own these vicious dogs do not.
