  • @BABOU1965 where did you find this!?!?!? SO rare!

  • best fuckin voice ever so rugged

kinda bluesy but still good rock n roll

  • In the 70's I dated his son !!!!

  • met wilbert in the mid 70s in a bar in newark nj, he and i had a beer and he sang kansas city a few times and he joked around with a light bulb that would light when he put in on peoples heads, today his son wibert harrison jr came in my record store looking for a 45 record of kansas city on fury label, i had one, we listened to it and he rememberd his dad with storys, it was a pleasure meeting him as well as his dad, days like this make me glad i kept my record store open.....

  • @jpoe141 I love stories like that.

  • bless his soul, met his son today at my record store and we listened to kansas city on the record player in store, what a conversation ....

  • This sounds like Kansas City... and that's a GOOD thing

  • Awesome Piano Playing! I hated this song till I say Wilbert play it live - now I dig it!!

  • What a great sense of rhythm. love his piano playing and his voice sounds really neat. Wish he also did or combined the earlier version Price had to censor with the newer version..... thanks for posting... love Wilbert Harrison

  • CooL

  • Who came first?

    Wilbert Harrison or Lloyd Price?

  • @7jack7

I don't know, but I think I like Wilbert's version better. One-man-band for the win!

  • i wish more black guys would lye thier hair nowadays- it just looks good.

  • @mattybock Sorry Matty but that stuff lye contained poison

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOOO, SHIT, Now I'm screwed up! You mean he was the first to bring out Stagger Lee. AND IT'S DAM GOOD. WTF.... I like his style too.

I heard Loyed Price as a Baby. My dad would play it.

    MORE INPIUT......

    OOOOOOO, SHIT..

  • @commonman80 Common man Lloyd Price's version is the standard for everyone else to follow

  • Lloyd price guys duh

  • @bigdaddy197042 ,This is the 50's, Loyde price was the earley 60's

I think?? I AM SCREWED UP RIGHTY NOW.

    HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • THIS WAS MY DADDY'S FAVORITE SONG.

  • Cool Cat.

  • I'm going to go visit his grave in a couple of hours and maybe leave him a cigarette.

  • @thebronzebat

You mean there are people out there running around who don't use those terms ?

    What's wrong with them ? ; )

  • Wilbert's voice is interesting.

I realize this is Classic R&B; but his singing/accent almost reminds me of one of the old Country Blues singers at times.

  • @psychkoala

That's true of many black singers who grew up in the South. If you think of Solomon Burke, Percy Sledge, and of course Ray Charles, there's a little bit of country in all of them. Also, the song really is an old blues song, going back to the 20s I think.

  • Both versions are great.

    I love them

  • THIS VERSION CANT TOUCH Lloyd Price's at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @dal4018 yeah righhttt! this is the best. Price's is whacckk.

  • @GNRSlashLover GNR u are straight crazy as all hell if u think Wilbert Harrison's version is better than Lloyd Price's.NO WAY Lloyd Price rules 4ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @dal4018

    I'm straight crazy, too.

  • @TubeTripping I guess u are if you like this version over Lloyd Price's

  • totally awesome, i love this kind of music!!! fuck lady gaga, rihanna and that shit music..

  • You got it !

  • @danielgoesangry I'd fuck Rihanna and Lady gaga

  • @danielgoesangry LOL!!!!!!!!!!! I hear you!! I'm 60. And it makes me feel good that you younger people CAN HEAR! I also feel good that you appreciate the music of my time, because it's like an appreciation of ME.

SUGGESTION: Bring it back!!! GRAB IT!! PLAY IT!!! That music came out of an EXPERIENCE that cannot be duplicated. Hard to explain. Nevertheless, you can FEEL, just like THEY could feel. Thanks for your comments!

  • @danielgoesangry Right on the money!

  • Very good!

  • Why did they cut it there? He was about to let it rip!

  • oi oi patterfoot, this is patty the 2nd (aka little sister) tis now the song in my head for the week!

  • Ohhhh yeah..So hot..I have this on my ipod. I love Wilbert.

  • Does anyone have his follow-up to Kansas City, "The Horse"?

  • Got "The Horse" on a metal acetate. Its on Beltone though not Fury which it was eventually released on.

  • Beltone studio in New York City is where Wilbert Harrison recorded when he was with Fury Records. What you have is a studio dub.

  • I can listen to this every day!

And sing and dance along everytime.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Well done!

  • Wilburt has a unique voice. It recorded well and he had two huge hits, "Kansas City" and years later "Let's WOrk Together." Was active till the end of his life (for a while he appeared as a one-man-band, with harmonica rack, guitar and drum kit)..

  • Wilburt?

  • Priceless!!!!

  • It's a shame there isn't more Wilbert Harrison videos on youtube.
