Absolutely incredible! This much talnt coming from a 13 year old? She should look into creating albums. I'd love to hear a Jazz flute Christmas album from her someday. I'll keep an eye out for future projects with her name on it. Great job Rachel!
Hey, thanks for the nice words. I do have a CD - "Summer after 7". I had the honor of recording with the great bassist Ron Carter and his trio. You can find it on CD baby (disk or download) or on Amazon (just download) Thanks!!
you play really nicely with a great tone... keep practising on your high notes to get the same quality sound as the others.... i am 13 and have trouble with that too : ( maybe some body movement, you sound like you enjoy playing but it doesn't really look like it : )
yeah i was forced to play bass clarinet but then i convinced my band director to switch me . and now i play french horn. But my band doesnt sound as good as it should. lol.
A lot potential in this one, though once shes done with the head and starts blowing you can tell shes 13. She should try to sing her ideas and that way the ideas will be more connected and sound more fluid rather than noodling around
Hey, this kid is 13!!! When you were 13 did you ever get near this level? Not a chance... She has tremendous flow of ideas and can execute. Her articulation is great. She is much better than a lot of professionals, and she is definitely fun to listen to and not tiring or repetitious. I don't know what talking about sustaining notes has to do with this particular piece at all, which she drives non-stop. Perhaps you could clarify. On the 3 octave and above, this is JAZZ...even cracking notes OK.
I'm a flute major in college working on my music education degree, keep up the good work you're sounding pretty good. Open up your throat and don't pinch out your higher octave, work on tone in all registers. Don't be afraid to move a little you look very stiff!
Very very good playing. A lot of good ideas. The aebersold track is a long one and you handled that nicely. If I can suggest something: allow for more "negative space" and continue to explore new harmonic devices, such as the Harmonic and Melodic Minor modes. Have you gone to any local Jazz jam sessions?
I once knew a great flutist, in fact I lost contact with her and been trying to find her. she did improvised as well on this tune.. your doing great!!
Wow! I'm 14. I play Flute and improvise on stage. How long have you been playing? Your improv sounded like written music! Well done

Tiny bit of a shaky start...
She needs to work on strength of breathing and sustaining the notes. Very nice though still! :)
