Please, all of you who touch base here, seek out Connie Field's films. On BBC they are called The World against Apartheid. There is a subtitle - Have you heard from Johannesburg. Internationally I don't know how you will find them. But try. Watching the films makes me understand so much.
@assemblyguy Well watch the Documentary The World Against Apartheid Have you heard from Johannesburg. It's on the BBC at the moment but Connie Field made these films independently of television and I'm sure wherever anyone is in the world they can find them. The part that covers Steve Biko's influence and his death is vital viewing.
@TheMimifur Well I simply tell people to read up Steven Biko. Information online is fast and easy. But people are more familiar with Mandela than Biko. Biko only became a name when "Cry Freedom" came out. In fact that is how I learned of him back in 1987. as well as seeing a Dry White Season in 1989. Lots of global changed occurring during the late 80s. If you aren't learning, your are barely living.
RIP Stephen Biko .....his life was taken because he spoke up and said that humanity has no second class citizens … so many have died as they speak against violence and hate and oppression .. many knew it would be their fate … but they knew that a life oppressed or where all are not equal is not worth living … peace and blessing to all people, especially those who speak for peace and equality

@TheMimifur I actually did an in-depth study into the life of Steven Biko. An amazing man who should not have had to deal with what he did.

@assemblyguy It amazes me that still you have to explain who Biko was. Everyone knows Mandela but they don;t know who Biko was,

Amazing! Did the sky opened up and started to rain as Peter Grabriel left the stage?
