  • I'm about to start archery. I'm about 6 feet tall and need a compound bow, any suggestions?

And are there some exercises for getting use to holding your bow or drawing your arrows back?

  • Comment removed

  • Gravity which is a constant. Over any distance the arrow will drop even though it may not be noticeable over short distances. Physics - as the arrow decelerates it drops faster as gravity pulls the arrow down. There are many factors involved including draw length, poundage, arrow weight, size, pile, fletchings.... Archers Advantage - has all the answers. Input to distances with sight markings and the software should do the rest - pretty accurately. It even accounts for shooting on inclines.

  • @wrinkle66 im so sorry mate, i did not leave that comment lol, im no rookie, that was one of my mates, ive been shooting and hunting for well over 5 months, before that comment was posted.

  • what kind of releas is that

  • u are a beast sir

  • whats the thing you use on your left hand to pull the string back?

  • Not bad broski =]

  • hello there~ gawd i love your bow!!! and you look like urban robbin hood!! haha

  • nice upload ;)

  • you shoot left handed? i am left handed but personally id rather shoot right handed...

  • Just starting with some crappy compound, but that kind of relaxed shootings where I want to be. I dont care 'what you shot' what does it matter? same as with10m pistol its taking the shot thats the buzz?

  • nice bow man, what are you pulling back

  • cool

  • that bow is hella nice do u know what kind i should get that is good but not hella expensive cause its for my b day? thatnks

  • I got a bear polar ltd 39" compound bow yesterday and I've been shooting it using my fingers. I don't know much about bows as you can probably tell but now I feel dumb for not getting a quick release. however I've been pretty accurate with it even with using only my fingers. hurts like hell after a while though.

  • Better spend alittle more time shooting , am sorry did i say alittle lmao

  • $1000.00 Dollar bow ...and thats all this guy got.

  • i want a bow so bad so i can look like rambo

  • @omergic try a 40-50 pound bow, im 5'6 and weigh about 150, i got a hoyt trykon sport since im not that tall the ata isnt really a difference to me

  • @nref55 thanks you so much i just pull the 60 then the string jump out, may be i pull it incorrect, but now i have a dxt 50-60 and set at 58 i can pull he bow easier.

but i just brought a z7 1000 com wth everything ---brand new and they available for 8 of them u guys should get it if u like mathews bow... lol

  • @omergic aight well whatever suits your shooting keep with it, 1000 is out of my price range has i got mine all set up for 370

  • how much pull does it have?

  • amazing shooting

  • the compound bows on the wall are sucky campared to urs nice shooting

  • Great shooting sick bow

  • thats a really nice bow it looks like its well set up, would be great for field targets.

  • this is a bit theatrical and a really gay song. but the shooting was badass. I will give you that.

  • this is soooo fake

  • wats the thing in ur hand called when u load the bow

  • i like your bow ^^

  • amazing shot.

  • The Excaliber is selling well over here now. Ben had a few niggles with it but it he sorted them eventually, though the launch date was postponed. Good advert for Merlin and their bows being shot in the USA, where Hoyt & Bowtech dominate,,,

  • Wow, this video is far too heavily edited in regards to you showing your score....

Not it realy matters it was nice video and a nice song

  • im like awsome at shooting them but i havent shot a compound bow before i might get one

  • Nice shooting, though I consider compound bows just string based guns. I prefer traditional archery, but can't expect everyone to like the same stuff. BTW good music : >

  • nice thats my b day march 8th

  • With your release, does your d-loop ever tear because you don't have swivel head?? I've went through 3 d-loops with a release by Stacey... I swiched to T.R.U. Ball release

  • was that 20 yards i only hunt but i could have hit the x almost every time at 20 yards and i dont have a scope just pins and about a 5 inch stabilizer not a 5 foot one

  • @bowhunt365 what kind of stablilizer do you have, i got a true glow one that comes with the little wrist sling but it sucks so bad, i think is cuz its super light, it might be ment more for recoil.... any advice bro?

  • dude im 16 and i can honestly shoot better than you can. shoot some 3 spots with 2cm x rings and then you can come close

  • Alanis Morissette

  • hey dude, wots the song, iknow its crazy but who,s the artist

  • nice video, and nice shooting, but with all due respect, these hi-tech weapons with all those sights, balancers, reinforced engines and computerized control panels, are not bows.

    face it.

i'd call them blockbows (because of its blockers)

so in our family of ancient shooting weapons, we would have bows, blockbows and crossbows :D

  • Cars never used to have wind sheilds or airbags... They do now. Are they not cars?

  • Yes, they both are cars, but it's not the exact analogy.

it would be the same, if we compared two blockbows, one of them rather primitive, early model and the second one, last product of modern engineering, full of all kinds of hi-tech gizmos.

the analog of real bow in this setting would be a chariot :D

and chariot is definitely not a car :D

  • Awesome video and you are a left hand shooter huh!

  • That must be the prettiest damn bow in the world! Great vid. Real professional look. Perfect audio track. This really makes you want to go out and get a bow for yourself.

  • i hate the look of compounds but this one dosnt look so bad

  • Hatstalker,

The compoundbow is the hottest looking bow on the market it's a mechanical wonder,

  • slick bow dude---nice

  • i haven't even started to shoot a bow but i would really like to start with a Compund Bow but im 13 and i need a bow that is under $300.00 and a draw weight of at least 50-60 ... I dont want to use it for Competiton as this guy is... his stabalizer and color gave it away... anyways i want to use one for fun and maybe when i CAN get a lisence i will go hunting with it so please help me!

  • @demmonwithin look at the diamond razor on ebay

  • nice clip well done

  • Very Nice shooting, I'm a novice but I really like your bow and I'm really impressed with your shooting as a lefty too...I personally never seen someone shoot that way :P. Also, what bow type is it?

  • Its a Merlin XV :)

  • Read the credits

  • I dont like all these fancy compounds it makes it way to easy Its more fun if you use the old fashion bows that medieval ppl used

  • I belive the term you are searching for is Recurve bow or maybe a Long bow. Also, Compound bows have their own little tactics you need to master to shoot with great accurarcy.

  • interesting seeing a Merlin in the US.

  • ive shot against you before, I am 16 and have been doing archery for about 7 months now and i shoot 298 inner ten( las vegas score) out of 300

  • the recurve bow behind him looks like a win&win inno carbon

  • thats what i thought!

i would love one of thoes lol

  • two of my friends have the inno carbon, its a GREAT riser!!

  • It is. It's mine. I shoot that one right handed. I have a bad left shoulder.

  • nice form, deliberate and precise.

  • pretty sweet bow, get a better release though, but idk that looks like it works for you

  • haha I'm 13 too and i just got into archery and bought that exact same bow with the grow up with parker system and i got mine set at 35 pull for easy target practice but i got the bow for $322 and that includes tax, arrows, tips, and the pull

  • good video

  • In ebay the people out of my archery club buy a lot bows because they're cheaper there as here in Germany :P

  • prove it!!!!!

  • Great video.

  • i love my merlin i juss got my new sight it similar to yours its an easton fatboy it has crosshairs my merlin is juss like your its identical same arrows stabalizer and release its a four finger though i never could figure out thos back tension releases

  • great shooting, keep it up :) and nice bow. keep up the good work :)

  • goooodd shooting man really good i wish i was as good as u

well i wish i had a bow hahaha getting one for my bday

  • good shooting gay music

  • you shake tooooo much

  • Thanks for noticing. Here's an idea. How about you post video for your friends and family to watch and I'll be the Asshole that comes alone and tell you that you suck.

    What's with you people?

  • @afssanders dont worry about it, thats what youtube assholes are all about. great vid, just showing my friend how awesome compositie bows are and your vid is a great example. nice one!

  • @afssanders dude calm down. he didnt say you suck. he just said you shake too much.

  • @afssanders Haha awesome man. Good video, deciding on doing Archery again

  • @DudeThatAwesome obviously his "shaking" does not effect him because he mad great shots

  • @DudeThatAwesome He hit a lot of bullseyes.

  • @DudeThatAwesome i think he shot excellent so shut up

  • Great shooting. I've seen a lot of really nice looking target bows but that one tops the list it is absolutly beautiful, how much did it cost.

  • Thank you. I love the way Merlins look as well. It was a little under a grand. The goodies hanging off it with a dozen decent arrows end up costing about the same as the bow. Add a top of the line release and you're over. You might think a grand is a lot, but compared to other top of the line target bows. A Merlin is a great deal for the money.

  • You inspired me to go get a compound - Bowtech though.

  • what bow is that

  • Merlin XV

  • i love the bow

i havent seen it before in my experience

  • what brand are those arrows

  • that is looking so fake i must say. u shoot it and then it shows the arrow hit and then u again like u just finished the shot. but pretty ok vid.

  • what is the pound pull back on that bow?

  • 40-50 the bow is set to about 45 right now. Even at that poundage I can shoot 120 yards. ACE 570 at that distance. Indoor I usually use 23 or 2512

  • Is that a Stan Super X you're using. It sure looks like mine anyway. I have a Quattro M and I like it...very crisp. I also use a Stan Eagle 2 finger for hunting. I think I prefer the middle finger trigger, but like almost everything else in archery it comes down to personal preference. Good X busting, man! What is your best NFAA 300 so far? My best is 57X, but I won't stop 'til I get 60! LOL It seems tough, but I'll get it sooner or later....probably later.

  • It is. It's a modified three finger. I don't really keep track of the x's much. I'm more concerned about getting 300's every time, but I do get between 45 and 55X's

  • cool vid man, what song is playing in it???

  • Crazy by Alanis Morrissette

  • very nice whats your bow

  • Merlin XV

  • thanks

  • Thank you

  • perfect setup, nice controlled shots, well done
