  • I don't get it, the lyrics of the actual Tenor Aria are:

    "Erwäge, wie sein blutgefärbter Rücken

    In allen Stücken

    Dem Himmel gleiche geht,

    Daran, nachdem die Wasserwogen

    Von unsrer Sündflut sich verzogen,

    Der allerschönste Regenbogen

    Als Gottes Gnadenzeichen steht! "

The tenor is singing another Aria: "Mein Jesu, Ach Jesu" !

  • @Klassischergeist

The version performed here is that of 1749, hence the different lyrics for certain arias. Here you can see all the settings of BWV 245 (remove the spaces):

  • sorry, link appears as broken after I paste it. Anyway, there are several settings of Johannespassion, from 1724, 1725, 1728/30 or 32, 1739 and 1749. The one performed here by Suzuki is the latter.

    Thank you! :)

  • he uses baroque instruments and historic performance but violins play this number and the next aria? now this is not very nice. but the contrafagotto is :-)

  • El bajo tiene una voz hermosa y hace una bella interpretación.

    Fenomenal!

    Gracias!
