  • I still need to drink more water, kick the snacks for veggies, and start meditating. But I've got the yoga going on and I've been smiling at strangers all my life. 2 down 3 to go =)

    I love love Maum Meditation because their centers are all around the world and its result is perminent. It's the only meditation that use 'substratction' method.

I will gladly drink more water, eat my fruits and veges, meditate (no lotus), do my yoga, smile at strangers and even subscribe to your posts but I will not try those poses you were doing. Talk about tough stuff. OMG! You do the difficult poses, keep looking fantastic and sounding sweet and I'll follow for the good advise. THANKS

  • Smiling at strangers don't really work here (New York City) because everyone just minds their own business and if you greet a stranger like "Good morning!", they're gonna think, "What you want from me." And if you're a girl and guy starts talking to you, you'll automatically think the guy's hitting on you.

    I think it's because we're always taught "mind your own business", "stop worrying about others and worry about yourself"

  • I LOVE the last tip! I truly believe people do not spread joy enough. It's one of my favorite things to do, and I am so happy that others feel that simply smiling at someone does them good, and does you good. How encouraging! :)

  • I always try to smile at random people when I walk past them on the streets or at school or in the mall. But they always look away too quick!

    I love it when random people smile or say hi though! It totally gives me a boost! Weird how that works. :P

  • Standing with knees bent and hands held at shoulder height as if holding a ball. Shoulders are relaxed back is long. Head is held by imaginary string. Hold that imaginary ball, hold a ball between your elbows, and a third imaginary ball between your knees. Builds lots of energy in your middle, very relaxing. Trust me. Taiji chuan qi gong!

  • Tara - answer me these questions if you would..... I often hear people say that meditation in a reclined pose can be distracting as the tendency is to move towards sleep as opposed to enhanced awareness / mindfulness... comments? Also, I'm in fine shape but have a very big build and have trouble with many poses. Think Andre the giant in full-lotus... how should I approach these challenges?

  • I love this video! THANK YOU! I am doing Yoga, but not daily, I have to change that and I will start NOW with your bed time routine. I don't drink enough water, but I just drank 750ml and I will drink more from tomorrow on! And I am not eating enough vegetables and fruits, not at all, but you just reminded me of it and I will change that tomorrow at breakfast! Your tips are so easy to follow and so simple and good, thanks a lot! :D

  • i am impressed lady. in india yoga was never for the selected few, so how did yoga get so hoity toity in this country. good for you Tara. when people ask me who is my teacher, i tell them my dad and so they ask and what is his lineage. i say in india everyone does it because someone before them taught it to them when they were little. at least that is what i thought when i was 4. keep up the good work Tara, u r my new champion.

  • Thank you so much for this, I was looking for something like this to keep me more healthy as I do not play sports like others my age. I am not overweight or anything I just felt like I needed to start being more healthy and this helped a lot!

  • why do people say to enjoy crappy food that will harm your body? Those junks are killing you slowly and should not encourage people to eat it. Eat healthy! I know eating healthy is really hard cuz we are so use to eating crap. It's worth it for sure cuz it makes you feel good and gives you more energy throughout the day.

  • She is cute and offers good advice but she's a little too skinny. Enjoy a burger once in a while and krispy kreme....when the hot light is on. Notice I said 'once in a while' not every day.

  • @carhart001 @txcrm Some people happen to be naturally skinny regardless of what they eat. According to America, overweight is the new "healthy". Just because some of us are thinner than the average American who downs 5 cans of pepsi, 3 caramel lattes, & 5 chocolate bars a day does not mean we are "underweight", and does not mean we should start engaging in unhealthy indulgences just because someone doesn't like the way we look. It would be the same principle as starving oneself to be skinny, no?

  • @TheOriginalTwitchitt I was half kidding but I am one of those naturally lean people; 6ft 4inches at 185lbs. I could eat whatever I wanted and still not gain weight but I eat very healthy and Saturdays are my 'cheat day' by which I eat whatever I want on that day. My point was that some girls are entirely too thin on purpose and they should lighten up. Tara doesn't seem to be one of those people. I like her and her advice.

  • Hey Tara, all the things you said is totally true and healthy, but to me personally you look seriously underweight and for me that equals not healthy. I'm sure you need a very healthy and pure lifestyle but a few extra kilos wouldn't hurt

  • Yoga isn't about flexibility as many of you may think.  Yoga is about getting in touch with your breath and becoming aware of your body and learning to connect your breath with your body in order to maximize the over health and receptivity of the human form to vital energies. Flexibility is merely a side effect.

  • Great recap of good habits! To avoid making people uncomfortable, I try to maintain a mild smile on my face in public. If a person has a friendly "vibe" (or seem sad) then I'll give them a good genuine smile...if they seem aggressive or defensive, I just keep the "neutral" smile and send them love in my head. :)

LOL we all should drink 2,5 liters each day, it is recommended by the best doctors and guess what? it's part of the Mediterranean diet which is the healthiest food you will find, thats why Italy or Greece or Spain has NO fat people like USA does. Fruits and veggies is a MUST. Meditation and yoga is great but all u need to do is basically take the stress out of your body, can be reached with whatever sport. "smile at strangers" yeah, do it if u wanna get raped. Smile at FRIENDS!

  • Hi Tara! I have a question... I want to start to do yoga for many reasons... but does yoga make your skin look better?? Because I have acne and I clean my face twice a day, I try to not wear too much make up and I try to eat healthy but my brother told me that I need to exercise too and I tought that doing yoga is the best option for my body and my spirit! :) I love your videos and your skin! ^_^

  • She seems like a REALLY cool person. In regards to 5th habit, it almost got me into a bad situation.... I smiled at someone and they asked me what I was looking at... I just said I was saying Hello.... I was able to quickly defuse the situation.... It's not going to stop me from doing it in the future.... Some people just haven't experienced nice people, so I guess I can't blame them...

  • Just curious, I had a major car accident about 9 yrs back, and I have since lacked mobility and endurance and flexibility. I want to start yoga/pilates, but with my limited flexibility, not sure where to start.

  • @nfarnham2008 I think the best place for you to start would be to go to a class or consult a GOOD and experienced yoga teacher who will be able to help you get the most from yoga.

  • @nfarnham2008 you don't need to be flexible in order to do yoga (or mobility/endurance). those are things that you get from it. just find a nice teacher and tell them about your health issues and they will give you adjusted postures if necessary.

  • Thank you Tara Stiles! All I have to do is re-add meditation and Yoga. I drink lots of water and just added veggies and fruit back into my diet after quitting smoking a little over a month ago. I already go to the gym and smile at strangers because I am generally happy. However, I wish I was as skinny and healthy as you. It is a journey for me. I was unhealthy for sure but think I am on my way!

    are at play. Ever walk down a railroad track and look at the

    ground next to rail? Chances are you will loose balance

    because you are not focused on the rail. Very simple.

  • @keithallenlaw You remind me of Timothy Treadwell, the subject of the documentary "Grizzly Man." Every year, he would spend months out in the woods of Alaska, playing with the bears, as he believed they were simply "misunderstood." He and his girlfriend were eventually eaten alive by a grizzly. The whole incident was captured on audio tape. The moral of that story is, when you're dealing with wild animals, no amount of positive intention will protect you.

  • Going along with the smiling thing--I think part of a healthy life is learning to think positively! Negative people tend to be overly suspicious of people, to overlook opportunities, and just in general have less fulfilling lives because they focus on the bad things in life!
