Saw it on HBO recently and it has a of layers in dealing with race and sexuality. I was reminded of three other movies like American Beauty, Blue Car, and Small Talk.

I think that the film was mostly honest in what it was saying. I think it isn't saying all of America or it's people are like that, but it is an underlying problem. The people that think the movie is disgusting in itself I believe are mistaken. Like gonji just said. The purpose of the movie isn't to excite people sexually, although it may with some, but to depict something true and controversial and get people to react or think. In this case it has. Unfortunately some don't even both to think.

First off, jessezelaya is a dumb ass.

Secondly, I liked this movie and i really agree with yunakelis comments. The only thing which I did not like and weakened the movie for me the the conclusion. Each character was realistic in that you say there weaknesses and hypocrisy. But at the end they became flat, all those imperfections vanished, which does not happen in real life. Its so sad because the end defeated the movies whole purpose.

it was clear why she was so experimental. not all teens experiment with sex just because they have those feeling ie me when i was younger. but because she was exposed to sexuality with her moms boyfriend and then naturally felt those feelings in puberty she acted diff than a normal child. she was then prayed apon by a pedophile and used her confusion about her body and feelings to seduce her. she is at a very vulnerable time in her life more so becuase she isnt protected by any adults

exept for toni's character. other than that her mom didnt protect her and her father isnt a good person to talk to therefore she can only identify with the people that take interest in her ie the pedophile. its a shame and the film really makes you see the side effects of what a child goes through when they arent guided and there is alot of other stuff in teh fim as well that made me think too. but that situation really made me think and made me mad too.
