Rozen Maiden is a series about this boy Jun who lives with his sister and shuts himself off from the world when his parents leave on business for a long while. Interested in the occult, he likes to order voodoo and 'haunted' type items and then return them before the grace period ends. When he orders a 'living doll' offline, he comes to find there is no way to return the doll, and it also is very much alive. This doll is Shinku (the blonde doll dressed in red/green).

Shinku is one of a series of seven living dolls who are all sisters made by the infamous dollmaker, Rozen. These seven dolls are all fighting one another throughout reality and time to be the perfect daughter for Rozen. Their goal is to defeat all their sisters and steal their 'Roza Mistica', (Basically, the essence of their soul). The way the dolls recieve power to fight one another is through a human medium. (Ex, Jun is Shinku's medium) The last doll standing gets to be Rozen's daughter.
