This is either the result of NASA's cloud machine, which actually produces rain making clouds..or its aircraft in the sky. This is no bang from our magnetic fields collpasing like some potential sky sounds might be. There is an Air Force base in central Tennessee which tests various propulsion systems. It includes the world’s largest solid rocket motor test facility. It also tested the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter which has VTOL and hovering abilities. Perhaps it was an F-35 out on a test run hovering in the clouds; I've witnessed a Harrier hovering from a short distance and it sounded just like this and was deafening.

@mjh34mjh34 The AF base is 65 miles south east of Nashville which would be east TN. I live in west TN (North of Memphis). But I got a few questions for you. Can a Harrier or other aircraft with hovering capabilities produce this sound and then just become completely silent? This sound went on for about an hour and then abruptly stopped as if someone turned off a switch. There was no sound of a airplane fading off into the distance.

@Jerpal1966 No it can't unless it has just landed (or crashed). You'd be the best judge of this as your heard it but it sounds like something stranger, a VTOL aircraft is the best I can think of at the moment though. I don't know much about meteorological phenomena; thanks for the response though.

I had this same noise coming from where I live here in the UK. Yes nothing to do with America and yet this same and I am talking the same, sound was literally just outside my house, in my area at least. I put my head out my bedroom window to listen as I could hear it from inside. When listening I said to my mum, sounds like a jet is hovering above, yet there is nothing there. The sound was constant and pure. Then just went over night.

So I have no clue what it is but its becoming very common.

This is exactly what we heard in Bucharest Romania on Monday, January 16th 2012. It did not fade away, it simply stopped suddenly as if somebody switched it off. It was a constant sound exactly like this and lasted over 10 minutes.

where i live..right down the street from us is this plot of land with some type of natural gas thingy on it...about once a week we would hear a noise just like that for half hour to an hour..like they open a valve or something to release the gas..maybe you should check around and see if you have something like that in your area....that is the exact same sound...

These strange sound videos are freaky and fascinating. This is sounds alot like a 'bomber' plane. I would hear this when there is a raging forest fire in california, the airport is on the other side of the small town, but we would here the bomber planes, I guess they would be 'idling', as they are getting filled up with retardant. (can't think of the proper names for the ones in quotes, just saying thats what this sounds like to me.)

@desernight Our first reaction was that it was a plane. A jet. But this sound lasted for an hour. It also just suddenly and abruptly stopped. It was not a plane. There is a small airport about 20 minute drive from my house that lands dust croppers and small aircraft. And there is Millington NAS near Memphis. But, what we witnessed was not a plane or jet. Appreciate your input but a plane just doesn't add up or make sense. Our consensus is that it was a weather related event.

@Jerpal1966 Was the sound coming fromt he NE/NEN direction? Because it took at least 15 minds to move that direction but the sound was so loud it was like a jet airliner was crashing or SO LOW that it was that loud.

Honestly, having grown up in LA, I'm used to Jets. So it took me a while to notice so who knows how long it was going on for. But my wife recalls at least twenty to half an hours worth of time for it. But There was no way to "pinpoint" it in the sky

Ok so just stumbled on this strange sound thing and two months ago my wife and I were outside having a cigarette when this EXACT sound just started growing and came from the NE and went to the SW over a period of maybe 15 minutes. But it sounded like one LOUD and BIG Jet Airliner. I used to live in L.A. and moved recently to Asheville, NC. So it's not like there's ANYTHING that loud out here compared to LA and NOTHING aside from Vandenberg rockets and JPL out there to compare to this sound.

@LaurentZane I did not witness the start of this. I was inside and kept thinking I was hearing water running. I checked the kitchen sink, the boys bathroom, and finaly atributed it to the dishwasher. After about 10 - 15 min, I went outside and thought a jet was flying over. But it never flew over. The sound lasted about an hour after I went outside and actualy noticed it. Also it never moved across the sky. The sound was constant in comming from one point in the sky.

I'm in SE Ky 30 miles in each direction to a town. My daughter and I heard something like this about a week ago. The weather was crummy. It had been drizzling all morning. We were inside and I too thought that it was a jet passing by. but after a few minutes I realized that it wasn't PASSING BY. I also noticed that my pup wasn't barking. (She barks at all airplanes.) @LadyStonecut Mine was a one time occurance. Haven't heard it again. I was in LA earlier this year and the freeways (or as we call them in TN, Interstates) were nowhere near this loud. It was so loud at times that we were having to yell at each other just to be heard. By the way, I really enjoyed my trip to Cali. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Californians know thier hospitality! I can't wait to visit again.

As loud as this was, If it had originated in Millington, they would have surely heard it. BUT on the other hand.... I heard something similar about 3 years ago in SE Oklahoma. I was very busy and what caught my attention was when it stopped!!

So a lot of people may be like I was, hear it but not hear it!

It sounded like a jet was hovering in the neighborhood when I stopped to think about it. Haven't heard it again since then.

Do you have a school or air port near by ? Low clouds can reflect sound close to the ground for miles. Some tech schools have test stands for running up turbines. Is it possible that this could be from a nearby freeway? I live about a quarter mile from I-10 in Texas. Most days I don't hear a thing but sometimes it gets so loud I find it hard to sleep. @parabolar The closest town near me with any kind of industry would be Memphis TN which is about 30 miles (aprox) south of where this was recorded. the other closest town is Covington TN 15 miles (aprox) North West of where this was recorded. However, There is no refinery in Covington.

I'm in Oklahoma and I heard that noise a couple of weeks ago. Thought it was a plane but would've had to be awful low and it lasted for about 10 minutes. There was nothing in the sky, no planes, nothing. Neighbors all came out to see what it was. I have no idea what it was but it was definatly creepy.

Not certain if this can be explained easily. It's even heard here in The Netherlands. How vague this may sound to many but many stories are related to ET involvement. Or at least some phenomena regarding the ascension of planet Terra. This is happening whether you love to ridicule or not. Keep an open mind, it can be anything indeed. Even possible is a simple explanation for this. Although I can't think of one. I sense it's ET related. Judge only for yourselves.

I'm just seeking someone who can explain what we heard. It is what it is, what is on the video is what we heard comming from the sky for near an hour. Unexplained, yes! Freaky, yes! Paranoid, NO! I am certain that the sound can be explained. Either manmade or weather related. Someone will eventualy discover what it is.

@Jerpal1966 I do have a strong belief that this is the same sound heard around the world, but I know the sounds centrated in Canada, this could be the echos of it which are so vague I do think you would be interested in looking Project HAARP up and may look up the sound of it on here.

I wish I would have had one of those jet packs that I could have strapped across my shoulders and catapulted myself up into the cloudy sky to see just what was making the noise! LOL! Sorry! I am convinced that what we experienced and what we heard is an unexplained weather event. If it seems otherwise, my appologies. And to your credit... When I first heard it and could not explain it I was truly getting paranoid to the point that I thought the rapture was taking place and I was getting left behind! LOL!

I do not know what the noise is or what was creating it. I do know it was not a train. I do know it was comming from the sky. My Uncle thinks it may be a Harrier Jet hoovering above the clouds. However, It did not ever fade away into the distance. It just abruptly stopped after about an hour. My brother thinks it is some kind of wind phenomena up aloft in the atmosphere. He says it sounds like the huricane he was in once. Me? I have no clue what it is. I really would like to know.

i heard the strange noise phenomen also here in germany last month but i respect people if they are sceptics or dont belive in these phenomenon because i am open minded but the most of you guys dont want to hear any other statement except the only one that fits you personal point of view.So i dont say that the train causes the noise ,i asked your about the how much interfere noise came from the train !

@boilerheadz Train? No. I don't live anywhere near railroad tracks. Matter of fact if you walk in the direction the camera is focused, you would have to walk aprox 15-20 miles to the track in that direction. There is a track about 6 miles behind the camera, on quiet days I can faintly hear the train horn. Put my address in Google earth and check for yourself. [3393 Picken Store Road, Tennessee, USA]

My brother is going to get a local meterologist to watch this video and see if he can explain what it is. My brother seems to think its strong winds up in the atmosphere. He says it sounds like the huricane he was in down in Florida.
