Your movements does not at all match the music. There is nothing in your body movement to accentuate the drum beats. Also why such ugly costumes, why not something more colorful and elaborate.
@maniacram Sorry you feel that way. Perhaps you have a very different sense of rhythm! The costumes are modelled from the traditional langotis worn for Kalaripayattu, since the movements are derived from from it. But of course, you're entitled to your opinion and sense of aesthetic :)
@revanta Yeah the whole minimalistic black approach just seems ill-suited and awkward for the vibrant indian classical. The aesthetic is good, just needs a bit more color and vibrance. Also some of your body movements looks inspired from contemporary in addition to kalari. Contemporary coming from ballet is specifically designed to be performed without drums.
@maniacram This isn't the "vibrant indian classical", that's the point Also 'contemporary', in this context, doesn't refer to Contemporary dance in the West that was inspired from, or in many cases, developed as a rejection of classical ballet. The contemporary dance movement in India, since the 60's has been drawing inspiration from a number of sources such as classical dance, Kalaripayattu martial arts and yoga. It has nothing to do with ballet.
@maniacram On a different note, who said ballet is to be performed without drums?! Much of classical ballet is performed to Western classical symphonies that often have a lot of percussion and drums, especially in the third and fourth movements of the symphony. The Swan Lake is a classic example!
@indianmusic1008 Just to let you know, in case you haven't checked my youtube channel in a while, there are lots more videos of my performance work now!
