  • I've bin training in piguaquan for abit and have deffently found that the striking with fingers is very effective at a advanced level but at lower levels its best to hit the guy in the neck throat area. Those of you here that are not an actual fighter (boxers don't count its just something people throw around all the time in there fancy) should just leave because you all don't know what you are all talking about. As far as this guy goes I don't really think he is to great at teaching this move.

  • hello 360i

  • never do this against the solar plexus to hard a target... throat yes chest no

  • Good video. Was a refresher for me. I kinda miss the old garage with the wall length mirror and Stone-cold Steve Austin cutout adorned with colored dots :-) ...I think it's funny that there are so many critics, yet they make no videos ;-)

  • i think he's quite good, its rather old school but....... the old stuff that still works, still works.

  • I do not recomment this information as being useful. See comments my channel, evaluate for yourself as your time and money may be at stake.

  • This is Expert Village expect crap and falsness

  • this is not Okinawan Kenpo - this is Japanese Karate.

  • @boazes lol no its not its expert village m'cdojo shit

  • NEVER learn karate from a non-asian, no rascism intended but it's NOT the same.

  • @EchoDeltaTV

That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

  • @EchoDeltaTV

WTF are you talking about it doesnt matter where they come from u racist bastard

  • My family is from Okinawa

  • LOL.. in a real fight dudes fingers would get broken. With clothes on and a moving target.. yup.. like to see that shit work.

  • Comment removed

  • @1selfmademan No,depends on were you hit,if you hit were the intestines are it won't do much but if you hit like in the chest that would injure you're fingers.

  • a lot of underestimating here :)

  • ok but i have more high rank moves like kickflip kick then punch

  • this guy sucks ass! also, that giant forehead make a great target!

  • i think this is bs

  • @welterweight13 Anything from Expert Village is bs.

  • mc dojo...

why did he not show us those finger tip push ups...

he has a bent wrist for his 'sword hand' strike...what sword do you know is bent??

  • @brasshandmartialarts A Kilij is bent

  • @theclonebot

Never knew the Turks were from Okinawa...

  • @brasshandmartialarts They're from Turkey actually.

  • @theclonebot

My point being...just that. We are talking about OKINAWAN kempo...so all references you think would be about Okinawa...not Turkey...

  • Que lixo isto!

    Jiu Jitsu ESMAGA!

  • the way he snaps his hands like that wont that break his arms >_>

  • nice movie, but as said, it's and advanced technique and normal people using it will break their fingers easyly

  • Mi novia guereissssssss

  • Comment removed

  • Would you want this dude backing you up in a bar fight?

  • I sure do

  • lmao i know 14 year old kids who could kick this guys as im serious. boxers mostly

  • yup i dont know why people think kenpo doesnt work i know first hand it does.

  • How do you know it works?

  • LOL totally enjoyable!

His sparing partner or "student" ?

    Wears sunglasses while training?

    lol

  • it was really sunny out =(

  • A lot of people use the name KARATE to name whatever it is they are doing in order to legitemize it...Rest assure that karate or ryukyu kempo/kenpo or the fine art of jutsu also called kempo is not so loosely demonstrated, practice, executed or taught for that matter. Also true karate is not as weak as shown here, just look up any kyokushin or Oyama vid and you'll see what a true karate blow looks like

  • ura ken is an uppercut or an upward fist. a reiken is a backfist dumbass

  • Comment removed

  • Ura-ken means back fist,he's correct about that part but the execution and target areas are totally wrong.Any idiot could easilly learn this if they bother to pick up a book written by either Nakayama sensei or Funakoshi,a good book to read is Scientific Karate, another one is the Nyumon...What style of karate do you do???

  • i practice shuri ryu, and im damn sure that reiken is a backfist. otoshi reiken is a downward backfist

  • The reason i ask is because within the Japanese an Okinawan systems there are so many variations of names and spelling for the same technique. This is also very common in other Japanese Koryo styles of jujutsu,ex: otoshi which is a typical hand throw might be called by a different name, and while in the ryukyu systems reiken might be a back fist, in the Japanese styles ura-ken is a back-fist. i don't know of any Ryukyu literature, but the japanese have stensive material.ex:Scientific karate book

  • im not gonna agree or disagree because we don't speak okinawan in my class (although i think we should) we use japanese terms. but i'd like to say you have been very humble in responding to my answers and i respect that

  • Common misinterpretations happen because of wording in the japanese language and the futile attemp of westerners trying to translated it,since japanese is complicated in interpretation.i have heard that this is even so to the japanese themselves.Usually what we in the west get is the Romanji which basically is romanized japanese, yet this does not convey the total meaning & feel of certain expressions ex:"In no Kokoro"Anyways a good book by Minatoro research/japan publi:Traditional karate GoJuRyu

  • you are wrong.

    uraken is definately back first.

    ura = reverse or opposite

  • gyaku is reverse or opposite

like in tecniques such as gyaku juji gimi= reverse cross choke

  • Good way to break fingers. Not practical.

  • Hey, that is serious!

Idon' t know about karate, but Jeet Kune Do and Vin Tsun uses it . It's a finger jab. It's Bill Jee. Funny name? hehehe

  • There is that move in the karate, but we won't do it in a street fight, or self defence.

  • Most practical move: Teisho (Palm Heel). Avoids cuts, can be as hard as a punch and will be one hell of a whack to the face :)

  • @V742 But if your hand gets caught on their arm or something, you'll be looking at one bitch of a wrist injury you know... anyway, this guy is funny. He doesn't seem to know his techniques very well.

  • Finger training and striking is a must to attack this way and this is advanced.

  • You seam to be useing a hard style. I was taught white tiger Kempo as a soft style. That went very well with my Krov Maga training.

  • You Rock!!

  • not so impressive .. looks js lyk rest of other karates except 4 snapping on tender parts lol,

  • che coglione!!!

  • yah, if hitting them in the throat don't do it, you can always be sure you got hold of their elbow putting them under your complete control... at which point, those weeks in comedy improv classes come in handy and you can try winning them over with a few good jokes.

  • Comment removed

  • bullshido is right. he is right about backfist. it is like a jab. distract face and then follow up. spearhand is ole school for a set-up to throw or soft tissue. i gotta say lower is better knifehand(shuto) pulls someone in for an ez throw or push, turn and run!

  • lol.... random blue guy XD

  • Bullshido

  • That person didn't explain the energy-flow, inside of the body relating to the technique, so it might not be joined, to Tai Chi practicing.

  • I am a purple belt in Kenpo Karate and my 5th degree black belt Instructor and I both agree that you are the sorriest teacher/"Expert" we have ever seen. Keep training.

  • That dude looks like Tony Hawk from a distance...LOL

  • oh Paaleeeeze... *sigh ...

  • yeah dont be scared they are all pussies anyways and you will rank up and receive praise in exchange for your dues

  • i want to sign up for karate but i am kinda scared if i mess up and shy could som1 solve my problem?

  • Why scare? What would you lose should you screw something up?

  • That really works! I saw it on mythbusters lol

  • as far as solar plexus shots go. you'd be better off punching someone there, you'd be surprised how strong some peoples stomachs are, especially fighters. granted not everyone trains their core for at least an hour a day, but if a spear hand will put them out, so will a punch.

i hate to sound like im bragging, but i kind of am...i don't know of a set of fingers that could knock the wind out of me before they break. again, not everyone trains to take body shots.

  • id say your chances of actually landing a spear hand into an opponents eye, especially an opponent with any head movement, are very slim. you will most likely stub or break your fingers on their forehead or cheek. not to mention its kind of....girly to poke eyes, to me it ranks right up there with pulling hair and scratching. if i were to poke someone in the eye intentionally, id most likely use my thumb and id do it in the clinch. however i would prefer not to stoop to that.

  • There are no formalites in battle

if some fights you, and your trying to honor some no existent taboo and someone kicks you in the blows, wat the fuck your gonig to say?

    hey, no cheating!!!

  • to answer your question

    no

what ancient post are you ever referring to?

  • combat and talking to your boss are 2 different things, combat is fighting to stay alive using any advantage to defeat your opponent and talking to your boss is where you will be formal and have rules

and when have you seen guns, atomic bombs, flamethrowers, katanas and any other weapon in ufc so it cant find the best attack

you also cant rip arms off, snap the neck, blind the opponent, destroy the lungs and other deadly techniques in mma so it is far from realistic

  • are you a troll or an idiot?

  • i took karate, our sensei told us that some schools teach it but that its not really practical. my tkd and kung fu schools insisted it made sense, i know better now that i train in more practical arts.

you cant really say all techniques are equally effective. some are situation specific, but some just plain dont make sense. a spearhand is one of them. in no sitation is a spear hand anywhere close to the best option.

  • A technique's effectiveness relies on the appropriate conditions being in place that facilitate its use. You would be correct in saying that the odds of successfully applying a spearhand aren't great. However, if used as part of an open hand combination to different targets, and if you hit the solar plexus while the opponent inhales, it could work. Most people, myself included, wouldn't use this in a real fight, definitely not to the solar plexus. The eyes and throat are better targets.

  • so how come no one has ever used a spearhand in competitive fighting? if it really is effective, then someone probably would have thrown one by now. but after thousands of people have competed in mma fights all over the world for about...30 years now, give or take, after all this time no one has ever decided to stab someone with their FUCKING FINGER TIPS.

so which is it? too deadly for the cage, the rules in mma make spearhands less strategic, all the good spearhanders have too much honor?

  • Spearhand is just a technique. It doesn't work in competitive fighting because of the rules prohibiting strikes to the eyes and throat. It also doesn't work by itself--it's not a standalone technique, ESPECIALLY to the solar plexus. It's taught as a standalone to beginners, and it's still taught because it appears in many kata.

  • This is a joke, I have been doing kenpo, and brazilian jujutsu for twenty three years, and this is crap. Maximus222 is right, there is no purpose of the spear hand to the solar plexes, however, the eyes, throat, and even ears, is a possibility, but this is crap. Plus this is a Mr. Rogers Look alike bringing a bad name to kenpo.

  • If you notice, the technique is demonstrated in a horse stance facing squarely to the front. Not a fighting stance, and not as a fighting application. Most people don't stand there waiting for you to jab them in the solar plexus--you've got to "soften them up" first.

No jokes here--if you sign up for any traditional karate class as a beginner, you'll invariably be taught this technique in one way or another. That's all that the video is about.

  • the spearhand is probably the dumbest move ever created. you will never hurt anyone tough with your finger tips. fingers have multiple joints and bones and they are long and slender, they connect to your hand through a ball and socket joint.

at what point is a spear hand better than a punch?

  • Well the spearhand is stupid to use for the solar plexus. And you can hurt people with your fingertips. The human body has many weakpoints where there is soft tissue. A piercing blow from your fingers can give a give shock. Also the spearhands is actually more powerful than a regular punch. But it has drawbacks. The surface area that your punch's force has to go around is larger than your fingertips. Therefore force is multiplied. But if not directed toward soft tissue you hurt yourself.

  • No technique is better than another--you use the tool you need at the moment. Is a knife better than a hand grenade? In a phone booth, yes. On a battlefield, no. Read the book "Deadly Karate Blows" by Brian Adams for more info.

  • He's only a 2nd Dan, give him a break. He is a thinker.. and will continually get better.

  • No excuses, sometimes thinkers make there own worst enemies, and simly teach others how to die.

  • holy shit, not hittind on the mouth of stomach.... that sounds like thief fightin, every man who practises real karate, knows that there is a point to kill a man...just located in the torax.

    Is that Karate?

    okinawa????

    nah

  • that is the biggest load of pish i've seen in a long time. This is not the purpose of the finger tip strike. It can either be used for strikes to the eyes, or as a locking technique...but bullshit to the solar plexus strike.

This guy is not teachin Okinawan Karate...this is a pish Americanised version with all the real stuff removed.

  • Pish?

Sure, why not show the real techniques where millions of people can get it for free without years of study? Granted, anyone can look up how to poke someone in the eyes, or throat. But that's not the purpose of the video. This is the karate you get in your first few lessons. Advanced bunkai comes later.

  • that a good beginners instructional video practice these basics.

  • so why there're many good "round eyes" treners of karate if it dont tought to us?

  • White Poeple pretending? man thats pathetic. This guy sure as hell knows what hes talking about. and Im sure he could take you down EASILY.Knowlage can be spreadable,so please shut the fuck up.

  • Great Video! Excellent Technique

  • if you're that guy from video than why you're rating your own video? :|

  • My wife Pamela (pamelahill net) said that. She appreciates my Martial Arts. We share fourscorpio.

  • My wife Pamela (pamelahill net) said that. She appreciates my Martial Arts. We share fourscorpio.

  • roger :)

  • I'm the guy in this video. I appreciate all your comments. As far as the nukite goes, it's just a basic technique that can work if you train at it and know how to apply it. I admit that the eyes and throat are better choices for primary targets, but the solar plexus was illustrated because that is the primary target revealed in the kata of Okinawan Kenpo. It can be an effective nerve strike...with training.

  • did you train in kyokushin?

  • No formal training in kyokushin; but I have incorporated some of Oyama's training methods into my own personal style. I mainly keep the Okinawan Kenpo and Kobudo kata, but borrow a lot from many different styles. Kyokushin is great for developing fighting spirit, as the training is very hard.

  • hmm,i have bad opinion about kyokushin.I think theres no spirit of real Karate,it becomed more sport than martial art.You must to train really hard but there's almost no normal techniques.you just use karate block rally hard but not regulary and everyone whos bigger and stronger than you could beat you.

I dont know situation in other contries but in Lithuania its only a sport .

  • bullshit

  • please do not make fun of white people. i love the martial arts however the fouders of martial arts are often the best not always however. God bless

  • No disrespect. I just want to comment on your punches, they are wrong. The last thing that leaves your body when you punch is your elbow and vice versa. I have trained under Sensei James "Jimmy" H. Coffman who trained with Fuse Kise and Hohan Soken for years and he gets so mad when someone punches and the elbows come up.

I thought I would share this with you

-Best Luck and thank you for the video

    -Abderrahim

  • Thanks for your comment. I must clarify, Expert Village mistakenly labeled these videos as Advanced Okinawan Kenpo when they're obviously basic techniques. The microphone was wired inside the gi with a cable coming out, so some liberties had to be made to avoid ripping the mike out. Plus it's a pretty thick gi. Not to make excuses, but my Sensei was also a stickler for detail. One always strives for perfection, but often falls short. But that's why karate is a lifetime practice. Osu!

  • The body is too solid for a snapping strike? Allow me to hit you with a back knuckle across the ribs..... It's a crushing blow that hurts so bad you can't breathe unless you are seriously overweight. Narrow viewpoint.

  • huevadas de los gringos

  • you are fucking good

  • Amibob, you are full of bs. solar plexis hits are all about removing the residual air from the basal section of the pulminary area, the deeper the srike the more impact.. a punch to the solar plexis will never cause more effect than a well placed shitaki to the solar plexis.. grow up

  • ahh i hurt my chest!

  • ahh i hurt my chest!

  • I like how people talk so much S*** on these and even worse than the fact they still get there a**es kicked is that they get in fights period.

  • ffs ive just started and i can do that siht better than him

  • someone should tell the guy exactly how many meridian run through the arm. Clearly he isn't the most informed actor. The total is 6 meridian not 3 or 4, seriously dude this shit can be located on the net if your teacher didn't tell you! I hope this helps for the future and informing your actors.

  • yeah he was an actor because he wanted money and he still had the balls to always prove his point in front of hundreds of people at times where it wasnt scripted. Muhammed Ali used the basic principles of bruce and still many other of the fighters of today do to. No bruce wouldnt have finger jabbed the solar plexus, its stupid because youd break your fingers had you used enough power, although when you get punched there hard enough it knocks the wind out of you bad.

  • The principles of Bruce Lee is old. And I think there existed lots of fighters who would beat Lee.

  • The reason bruce lee was hailed the greatest fighter is because of his realistic points of view when it came to fighting, his body was just the instrument to carry out his motions his body had nothing to do with the way he fought and thought, He was the greatest not because of his awsome power and speed but because he knew to leap around and strike when it mattered, you see, like a awsome kickboxer, and his body helped.

  • I think what you were trying to say is in two words. "GOOD TIMING". As far as a finger strike to solar plexus, it is a different form of power. If you attempt to slam it like throwing a fist this is a mistake, it should be used more like pushing the solar plexus button, but done very rapidly.

  • That shit sucks! DAMN!

  • son easos

  • This guy would get killed if he started on someone. No disrespect, but anyone who starts attempting to spike people in the chest with their fingers is either an escaped mental patient or is watching too many old Chinese martial arts flicks. Utter feckless rubbish! Id like to see him attempt something like that on a combat sambo player, judo practitioner or boxer. He'd have his fingers shoved up his crack!

  • anyone who starts attempting to spike people in the chest with their fingers is watching too many old Chinese martial arts flicks. Utter feckless rubbish! Id like to see him attempt something like that on a combat sambo player, judo practitioner or boxer.

*ya, but chances are that he wont be fighting a sambo or judo, considering martial artists have a great deal of disipline. these techs are more for everyday thugs or drunks that you need to teach a lesson.

  • lol.Gotta learn this to spear someone's groin...

  • rubbish, 'reinforced' or not, fingers are not effectives in any strike unless directed at the eyes

  • wow are you stupid, how about the throat? floating ribs? armpit? abdomin? diaphragm? dont act like you know what your talking about.

  • There's tons of locations that this technique is applicable. Using this technique on someone's throat is far more effective than just punching the throat, because this penetrates deeper.

Granted however, for targeting the solar plexis you're better off with a normal punch.

  • just from the way you guys talk, i kniow that guys smart enuff to kick yall asses.

your fingers might snap. but wwith a strenghthen hand and fingers, the finger jab is deadly. especially to throat and solar plexus, you could die easily from a good fast strike, you fags would known what that little guy hit you with.

  • And this is supposed to work in real life? Lmao... Those hits in the beginning have no power cause he hits only with his hand... Looks stupid.

  • lol. youve must never seen anyone knocked out by a snap strike.

bruce lee' punch is based off a snap strike. educate yourself fool.

  • Lol, u r right, I havent seen, thats why I said what I said. ANY strike u make, should have body usage included. It doesnt matter how fast you strike, if u have no power BEHIND the hit. The weight of your fist isnt that great... You need something to support yer hit, and thats where the body and the legs come in.

  • Btw, Bruce Lee was an actor, u should consider who you take seriously and who you shoudlnt... I admit Bruce was a pretty tough guy by any means, but in real life, I doubt he wasnt that great... 1 more thing, after you "fingered down" my comment, you cant really expect me to take your comments very seriously anymore... It tells me that you cant really make a difference between arguments, and spam, which is sad...

  • Bruce lee was a very poewerfull guy nonetheless. He was a actor indeed, but he was a martial artist as well, and actually TRAINED in martial arts. you know that right? He was famous for his superb strength. the one inch punch, being able to do push ups on the two fingers of one hand, these are not things ordinary actors can do.

  • I know I know, thats why I said that he was tough guy by any means. And I know he was a little "troublemaker" when he was younger, so he must have had some real-life skills too... But imo, its stupid to compare Bruce and that guy on the video anyway...

  • The guy in the video, when he starts to actually hit those nukites in the air, thats what I mean by using the body. That was missing from his backhand hits. Any serious martial artist should know that using your body should be the base of your punches and kicks...

  • that guys is a midget and in a real street fight most martial arts are useless. Mixed martial arts is far more effective. That whole spear hand bullshit, try it and see you fingers snap. If I had to coach my little sister on how to beat this wee guys ass I would say to her get in and hold him in close to your body over his gaurd and just start biting his cheek and ripping wildly and then say after words......'can you handle that!'

  • It takes a long time for the spear hand to be effective. Why would someone use a sharpened stick over a fist? Same principle. If you lower up the surface area of impact, you can do more damage with less force. (Imagine being stabbed with a 3/4'' wooden dowel) The guys that do this for years can spear through boards. For the most part its a lot of effort for little gain, but do it enough and most can get to the point of doing good damage to the the soft bits.

  • And then rape him with a stick. LOL Ive never heard such utter bollocks! Good point man. Your sister would take this clown and make him look like a complete fag in front of his girlfriend.

  • this guy is bad ass!

  • theres a mic on him you idiot.

  • "gei"? its gi, fool. and, yes, they did add sound effects, as can be noticed by the fact that even when he moves slowly it makes fast sounds. you're weak.

  • WHITE BOY

  • callin me white boy, i aint white, i aint black, shit head

  • theres a old saying, (only dumb peaple fight, smart peaple win) that saying(no hitting in the balls) is made up by peaple who wont to look mean but are scared of getting hurt, you wont to win a fight, fuckking hit him the groin

  • i love how they add sound effects for the strikes... straight out of a jackie chan movie. clown.

  • they didn't add sound effects moron.... that his gei rubbing against the microphone he's wearing...

  • any Tang Soo Do...peeps have been studying the art but,. keep get taken by a non martial art practionar.. advise please..... thanx

  • punching sand is better than those pushups lol

  • yo man... u da best!! ur almost as good as a cartoon!! jk man u suck and i can kick ur ass

  • lol , i wanna see you try.

  • i know boki diki dow

  • I study at the IOBK. I am not sure what style.. I am guess budo-kai

  • i do karate but not this tpy i do amreican karate

  • It's soo stupid to argue which style is better. It might come as a suprise to you, who have taken a beginners course in what ever style your favorite movie had, but everybody doesn't pick their martial art based on what they think is stronger. This for example, looked to me more like self defense than something you would use in a fight. Besides, if you really want to beat someone from a diffrent style than yours, you have to cross train, learn the weakness of your own art.

  • Your notion of martial arts is completely wrong. Besides what you do in there is a buch of sluppy moves. That is not a karate performance. That looks like someone that assisted to a class and did the movie without any experience.

  • it's not really about the style. it's about training. If you only train katas and forms you cannot beat a boxer that trains to bear pain and punshes. But if you train both you're a better fighter than if you only train one part. You might learn a better technique in Kung fu and Karate than in MMA or Thai Boxing, but you have to learn how to use it in a fight. Btw, if your enemy is to strong or you have too much enemies, y not learn parcour to get away quickly? Then you're the winner too

  • -_- wow ok.....i do Wah Lum kung fu and its alot better than this

  • I used to take kungfu,Ill say the only martial arts I wouldnt feel confedent in battle with is tkd and Karate.

  • bääm!

  • There is no such thing as "the better martial art", but there sure is "a more/less effective one". Think of the conditions the style was born in as well as it's purpose, this is how you get the idea. To my mind, it's hard to find something as effective as SPM or Wing Chun.

  • Krav Maga

  • i agree with ur comment

    what its spm?

  • I think the palm strike is more effective, but it looks like it could come in handy..

  • A spearhand would NEVER work in a real fight...

Unless if you're in a mortal kombat tournament, and you perform a FATALITY
