  • LOL@frame7:50 "Look at that, fuck I wish I could do that".

  • Genius

  • Why does doing this hurt my knee so badly?

  • I hate how this cameraman talks so much. SHUT UP.

  • I use this for baseball. Let me say that it provides EFFORTLESS power.

  • this has completely changed my game...."brace" on the right foot and just turn your shoulders and then all i think about is hit the ball on the inside and follow the arc of the club....fantastic...thanks.

  • a strip of duck tape would have made the secret a little bit easier to understand

  • Can I borrow the cameraman. He makes me feel smart!

  • Can I borrow the cameraman. He makes me feel smart!

  • @sevam1 I just realized I have had a set of Ben Hogan director blades since I was about 11, and I broke one of the irons a LONG time ago..shucks. I am going to have to play my Nike Blades now >_<. Would have been fun to have a round with all old clubs (driver, irons, putter etc) like you did with the Elk in your video. Cheers.

  • @mikepownzall @sevam1 and I have the 1988 Apex heads/with normal shafts. My Mizuno's have the shaft now while the heads lay resting- lol, but I still use the original 2 iron. My lucky club lol. Love it off the tee and fairway. Maybe I should post a video of my swing and see what happens.

  • Thanks for the video!!! the explenation on the "Focus on my right leg and the preassure i have to feel.... fix my BALANCE" Now i can almost 100% of the time finish in Balance!! and my ball strike is more consistent !!

    Thanks>>>

wish other pro-teachers make it simple as you do!!

  • does anyone else see more Moe Norman in this swing than Hogan?

The way Mike braces against his left side on the dowswing and follow through post impact is pure Moe IMO.

What keeps him similar with Hogan is that Mike does not have the straight arm pendulum set-up and he uses Hogan's take away.

  • @timfrost08 . I don't think you need to analyze the takeaway either. The all out bracing against the right leg forces almost all of the rest of the swing to sequence correctly.

What I find difficult to understand is this idea of pointing the toes up within your shoe so the weight on that foot goes toward the heel. Why do you do this and doesn't it make things a bit unstable?

    Tks!

  • Camera dude says so many irrelevant things.

  • The spike was probably there to stop the RIGHT FOOT from SPINNING OUT

  • ''casey get outa here''

  • so complicated!!

  • @Dreama40.... Complicated? Step 1) Turn the right leg into the ground to firm it up at address; Step 2) Turn the upper body into the brace of the right leg that you have set up at address; Step 3) Send the navel back to the target to reverse the action; Step 4) Smash the heck out of the ball with everything you have at your disposal. This is not The Goldberg Variations I can assure you.

  • @Dreama40 This is so not complicated. That pre-torque sets you up for using the proper muscles... it practically makes the swing

  • Comment removed

  • this is probably the most ridiculous and complicated description of a golf swing i have ever seen...it is complete drivel...on a positive note, I like your dog

  • Ok, hang on.... no pronate? No.... What about the right, the top leg there saying, ya know, having that... Is that?

  • @mitchellecumstien honestly...the reason why this kid probably sucks is because of the absolute nonsense this whack job is telling him about the golf swing.

  • Invest in a tripod and ditch the camera man

  • Mike, in the transition move, when you say you feel like you are still going "clockwise to your heels", for me I feel like while I am keeping my head still, I am backing into the shot by sending my right hip back to the ball/target line. What I think I am feeling and what is actually happening is not exact, that is just the "feel" I have. Is this correct? Thanks so much.....

  • Hi Mike,

Is the right foot plant and clockwise turn into the ground restricting your hip turn?

I have found that when i have anchored the right foot it straightens my right leg and i get push to straight right. Stuck behind and even foot spinning out.

Do you think the clockwise right foot anchor restricts you hips from rotating too much?

  • i love the DIALOUGE , so funny how sevam blows him off lol

  • "and thats not a reverse pivot?"

    SHUT UP!!

Everytime something is getting articulated the camera guys says ... durr da durr durr.

  • you all should just check out Shawn Clement - best teacher ever.

  • I wish the camera guy would shut the fuck up!!!!!!!!!!

  • I just want to log in to say thanks! i recently got back in the game and your videos have revolutionized my swing and amped up my enjoyment. Its refreshing to know there's someone out there who just wants to share the love of the game and isn't all hype. The 'Moe' swing has saved me a lot of pain and i'm longer and more accurate on all my clubs. :D

  • Top class Mike, I have really enjoyed watching your videos, and listening to you. It is so refreshing to see a golf teacher, teach. God bless you

  • tell the camera man to shut up... dear god kid is a moron. makes me mute the video.

  • the stupid cameraman is friggin stoned, haha

  • Hi Mike. Loving what you're doing here. I am 26 and about an 18 handicap. I was wondering if you could look at my swing if i sent you a video? I would really like to hear your thoughts.

  • I'm a little confused Mike. When you had the club at waist height to said that your swing was "done"......and that you begin moving toward the target....but visually your transition does not start till after your arms get to the top. Help!!! It seems like a contradiction.

  • I'm a little confused Mike. When you had the club at waist height to said that your swing was "done"......and that you begin moving toward the target....but visually your transition does not start till after your arms get to the top. Help!!! It seems like a contradiction.

  • This method really does work and I have to say that the cameraman/interviewer does add entertainment value. And of course I laughed my head off the first time the dog wandered into the picture. Well done.

  • Mike. First off, your video and ebook have given 1 method of playing instead of playing golf with my favorite 20 swings. You probably know exactly what I mean. One caveat I have is that you should pull your right knee to your left knee in order to release your right side. This is very noticeable to me because I'm left handed but play right handed. Bought Martin Ayers video from the dirters site. Seems a bit new wave Mike Austin to me

  • Mike, I'm sure the cameraman is an old buddy of yours and thats great, but please remind him of his job, CAMERA-MAN, not interviewer. He contunually interupts what I feel is superior instruction. Keep up the great work......without the sidekick.

  • ahahaha every time cameraman says something you're like "?...ok!"

  • so...i was out on the range this evening...and i got it. you can swing all screwed up but as long as your feet are doing what he is describing, it works. you DO NOT FORCE yourself into any positions. your follow through is your follow through, it isn't "toss the club over my shoulder and look pretty". it burns my legs when i sit there at my impact position trying to ingrain it. basically, all i do is just like hogan, repeat a backswing plane, the rest just happens.

  • hay sevam,im on the sandbelt in melbourne we are all golf mad here, ive been watching your thoughts on the swing and you are very clever.how about we analyze "mac ogradys swing. hay can you help me,i dont seem to be able to find great film of some bloke named gary edwin, i cant seem to find him swinging, cheers mate from your sandbelt fans

  • Sevam - Can you have the camera guy shut the hell up so other people who do not have his ridicules questions can bear to watch. He detracts so much from your great instruction and makes it unbearable to listen to. I know he is trying to help, but he his doing the exact opposite for more advanced golfers that are watching. He is obviously a beginner and needs to just film unless you give him the questions to ask.

  • Comment removed

  • Sevam great videos! What do you mean by the farthest you can rotate your hands is to square? How do you stop them from from turning over?

  • good work folks

  • Hey mike, great vids. I was wondering if another way to think of the move would be to push your hips and arms as far forward laterally as possible while still keeping your head stable behind the ball? To me that simplifies it but what are your thoughts?

  • @maginick24 That is a good way to feel this. What is staying stable and centered is the shoulder harness around the vertebrae between the shoulder blades. The spine reorientates but the top remains pretty stable. Thew movement is through the middle. The Navel. This puts you where you need to be to move through the ball. It puts you into position to strike the ball.

  • Great video except for the camera man.. He is so annoying. Best thing he can do is shut up and listen.

  • Comment removed

  • hey mike,

great video. i really enjoy them. just wondering - at set up, is your weight favouring the right side on the pivot point (ie. 60/40) or 50/50?

    thanks in advance!!

  • Thanks Mike for all you do in helping simplify the golf swing. I learned to play golf using Hogan's Five Fundamentals back in the earlly 90's. I then got caught up in all the new idea's regarding the so called Modern Golf Swing, and been scewed up for the last 10 years. But after watching your "Where's the weight" video, and your "Balance" video, my ball striking has returned with astonishing results. Thank man! The "Secret is in the Dirt" everyone.

  • I was skeptical of this but tried it. I don't know if it will work for everyone, but it works for me! I am hitting the ball much better now, thanks to this. Thanks, Sevam!

  • wow..great information!

  • Get that guy behind the camera to shut up. He sounds like he hasn't a clue too.

  • sevam1, you got it brother..

p.s. loose the guy on the camera. he is completly horrible.

  • this could be a show on t.v. these guys are hilarious together, camerman is clueless and its so funny how obliges his ridiculous commentary. very entertaining

  • This vid is good

  • sevam is very full of himself...smart, but full of himself.

  • the camera man always seems intrigued but very confused, it cracks me up every time.

  • Is this a joke sort of comical joke or is this guy super serious? He hasn't a clue what he's talking about. "Just like Hogan" blasphemus!

  • I dont understand what you mean by you are still turning to the right on your way down. I thought in another video you said to turn the hips on the way down but her it seems im supposed to lower the arms down to the ball while still turning the hips to the right.

  • camera guy is a big distraction...f' I wish I could do that. Us too man. Talk less, listen more, maybe we all can.

  • sevam1, i was wondering if you used the alignment of Hogan? Most specifically do you have your feet closed to the target with your shoulders being slightly open to the target? Finally do you assume a fairly wide stance when compared to most people?

  • You think and talk too much, I know that comes across as an insult but I mean it constructively. I was having lessons and got muddled and mixed up to the point I was standing over shots afraid to swing. You know what fixed me?? Fred Couples. I started to swing with his tempo and I have hit so many more greens in regulation. I also started hot five balls in a row within a few seconds to force myself to have no swing thoughts..I decide, I set up, I swing, I watch. Result.

  • Love your style. Like someone else said, I could watch this all day. LOL at Cameraboy. Doesn't have a clue what your talking about and asking stupid questions. "I didn't see your ball but that went pretty high didn't it? LOL.".

  • the cameraman is so annoying

  • @jacksonlui omg kill him

  • sevam1...You're a flippin genius! You've described/explained mechanics I've experienced in a BRIEF flash but could never replicate as I confused "effect" vs.cause. On one magical evening on the range MANY years ago I was aware of 2 sensations, ball of right foot/resistance/weight shift & a freakish bowing sensation of my left wrist prior to impact resulting in shaft bending torque in the hitting area. Watched ur vids & got ur e-book & finally understood what was happening and why. THANK YOU!

  • meant to say "torque/leverage" :)

  • Nice work man, started adopting to this technique yesterday and I can honestly say that I got it right away! My driver and metalwoods are dead straight. Hit my driver dead straight today on a par 5 in soggy conditions 335 yards.A couple more days on the practisefield to get my irons in order, and then I'll be deadly! :)

Moe talked alot about "the feeling of greatness". Think I get what he meant, this swingtechnique feels just seems so natural. Thanks alot for posting your vids on youtube!

  • what you have to offer in your videos are really great. It's too bad that you allow a stupid kid to interrupt your thoughts while he shoots the camera. Your tips are great and I would advise you to shoot your vids without that guy or tell him to shut up. He seems to shoot off his mouth just to sound smart. I mean really...what does pronating have anything to do with the discussion of compression??? I think he likes the sound of that word "pronate". LOL. Thanks for sharing!

  • Sevam, love your enthusiasm and your material but hate the ridiculous comments from your camera man. He seems to confuse you as much as he confuses us.

  • Sevam1, got your ebook recently. You talked about pivoting with the ball of the right foot. How do you start the downswing? Do you need to push your right foot or simply turn your hips/naval or whatever?

  • if the camera man would shut up this video would be a ton better!

  • stop talking to the camera kid....talk to your students.....your boring me to death...even though I think you know what your talking about.....

  • This kid in the background ruins it for me everytime.

  • Great insight...that extra spike is a great focal point..when Snead was a little out of whack he took his shoes off..most likley to get the feel of the dirt.. the footwork..balance..Like Mick says in the movie "ROCKY", "When you have your balance you become a very dangerous person ! You know the physics.. and I think you are saying the rules can be bent a little to your advantage..the foundation can flow a bit and still be harder than rock solid..I think I get it..Great stuff

  • LOL golf lessons -- who'd a thunk it! And the guy is SO good, and right on. But the fact that he's in a hay field hitting balls into the ocean over a boat with a stoner cameraman and dog that keeps walking into the shot is...My kind of golf! Such a refreshing change from the stuffy white-collar pro lessons.

  • The camera man hasnt got a clue what you are talking about hahahaha

  • love the pooch!

  • Tell the camera man to shut the f--k up so what is your handy cap dude

  • Thank, Sevam1 you are so right. I tried it yesterday and it worked like a charm. It's the greatest thing to happen to me.

  • Interesting...i just made an instructional video called "The Move"....i teach a lot of Hogans fundamentals. I agree a bit with your ideas...i teach people to grab the ground with their right big toe on the backswing and dont let the right knee move....good stuff man.

  • I've been golfing fifty years... Lessons from Austin, Norwood, and Count Yogi. Your enthusiasm, skill, and knowledge should be required viewing for anyone who picks up a club. Thanks

  • Don't change a thing. Don't moe the lawn, don't shave, don't change our outfit or the camera man. I can watch these videos all day.

  • dont you make enough giving lessons to buy a lawnmower

  • Any way you can edit out the cameraman's comments? His questions do not follow your line of instruction and is generally annoying.

  • Does anybody have any idea what the fuck he's talking about? what is he saying about his right leg?

  • I've been playing for 40 years.Now I've discovered you and it's like a ne beginning .you're the man.

    you actually explain the swing.

no-one before has apart from the golfers you quote

  • sevam1, what is your opinion on every golf announcer and every tour player saying tiger is the greatest ball striker ever, and greatest player ever?

  • It is very difficult to compare eras. Changes in course conditions and more importantly the equipment make comparing today to yesterday almost impossible. I think Tiger would agree that as a ballstriker he is not the same league as Hogan or Trevino or even Snead really but as a championship golfer you must look at how he has dominated his contemporaries and it is very hard to argue against Tiger on that account but "greatest player" is really just a toss up between a Hawk a Bear and a Tiger :)

  • Somebody asked Nicklaus if Tiger's the best ball striker he's ever seen. He said, "No, No. Hogan." Ben's stats for hitting fairways and greens in major championships is unparalleled.

  • I happened to stumble upon this video by accident and I thought Sevam was just another youtube hack instructor with a crazy theory. But for some reason I still decided to try it out. I've gotta tell you, I was completely wrong about Sevam. His advice has knocked nine strokes off my score. I really think Sevam is on to something here. If you don't believe me, give it a shot. This guy's good.

  • no slack in the chain.

check out mickey wright. hogan said he saw 2 great swings: her's and some guy at a driving range in miami.

  • seasons greetings to sevam camera man & casey........

  • Larry Nelson learnt his swing from "the modern fundamentals of golf" Ben Hogan.

  • love this guy, so cool, the hay in the yard, and the dog has a walk on too classic...

  • can't stand the guy that is talking and asking all the questions...so brutal

  • if he wasn't asking the questions who would?

  • well, it's kind of like listening to some of the schmucks that commentate for football..there are some good ones, and some that are simply intolerable....this laddy is in the ladder! Annoying! Should have picked someone else...and just look at the main man in it..he tells him to keep it down because "people are going to be bored"

  • Sevam1 are you a teaching/playing pro?

  • Sevam is a genius. Listen to what he's got to say. Thank u sir for sharing this

  • Mindy Blake,

Who was a english golfer wrote in his book about the Right foot pointing a bit towards the target a bit.

He said the right foot is the anchor of the swing.

He loved Trevino, he also said Hogan and Trevino were the best ball strikers on the planet.

    Great video.

    Stuart

  • I used to hit like 200 balls a day, when I would turn my right foot a bit towards the target I would hit the ball further.

I guess I was getting coil.

I am a right handed golfer you can try hit and tell me how it works for you.

Turn your Right foot a bit towards the target.

    Thanks

  • Sevam this is the best instruction I've ever heard in 10 yrs. of golfing. I preset like you say but I also preset impact, then it's just a shoulder turn from there. I thank you for showing the "light" on the concept. I really think your purpose in life is to be the best instructor since the days of old. Hardy, Ledbetter, Flick, Harmon and the rest do not have your ability or passion for the swing. You are the best of the best! Peace

  • THANK YOU for posting this stuff! I went from a 12 to 6 hcp this year, and shot 2 under (with an 8 on my card!) on a 128 slope course. All did was: Think about your concepts, get Tommy Armour's book, look at Sam Snead's swing on YouTube every night before I went to sleep, and FINALLY get a good grip, thanks to Holy Grail Hogan video on the beach.

I am in command of my golf ball now. For you guys still early in your journey, SEVAM1 and classic fundamentals he stresses ARE the path U CAN DO IT

  • a beginner. Muscle memory is amazing. I understand, know and agree prob 90% of the theory-I have read all the books and vids yet my swing just seems to be unable to improve. It takes A LOT of time to undo muscle learned errors.

I think thats something good players and teachers don't always appreciate. In a sense they are just lucky that they either stumbled upon, were taught or developed

  • cockywatchman1976

YOur comments are welcome but I did just delete your last post. Post it again if you want. Just don't include the f bombs etc. I generally don't delete posts, positive or negative, if you keep them relatively free of foul language. I myself don't get all that uptight with the language but there are junior golfers and parents referencing these videos together and they shouldn't have to sift through that.

  • I second that all the fowl language you use is a matter of frustration with your own golf swing. by looking at your golf swing i would say you shoot in the nineties. Your swing is all hands and your are obviously focused to much on you swing plane hince the "swing guide " your using. Your swing has no fluidity and you have nothing to be cocky about as far as golf!

  • No I shoot in the 80s ryediggy-I am only back to golf after a long lay off-I reached a 14 handicap at 15 years old and stopped playong. Yes my swing is not great-but I have a good eye and good strength. Im also improving lots. You dont know anything about me ryediggy-so don't be a prat and make comments. I play golf for fun and am not a pro-if I had lots of money and time I would develop a nice swing-but I haven't. Swingyde-not guide, your spelling grammar clearly displays what a moron U are

  • This guy is the Messiah.

  • This guy just annoys me. All ego. No doubt a good player-but what use is this rubbish.

You can tell what a prat he is-whatever the lad says this guy just replies "yeah (Im only interested in my own voice".

Not of any help at all really! If you want to learn go to Shawn Clement, Leadbetter or Hogan stuff! Not this muppet

  • this is hogan stuff dummy.

  • And the relevance of that is???

Whatever it is, it is useless-just MY OPINION.

  • If thats your swing on your page, please keep your comments to yourself. That swing compared to Sevem1 swing is like night and day. Damn, your swing looks like shit compared to his. Have the good sense to critique someone who swing needs help. Like yours for example!

  • Ok I was wrong-this guy is pretty cool. Looked a little further into his videos and pretty interesting. he also was happy to give a critique of my 'swing'-and suggested what to do to make it less bad!

  • As I said, he has a great swing, and a lot of useful info on all his posts. If the swing is good and the results are better, I will listen to them. No disrespect on your swing, however I see time and time again people critique Sevem1 swing, and yet they have terrible swings themselves. Mine is awful, thats why I'm listening to his swing methods, and bought Ben Hogan's book. I've even went to sevem1's website. By the way I did go to Shawn Clements page and he cleared up a lot of things.

  • everybody here trying to understand this mechanical crap is wasting there time! it doesnt matter if you have perfect mechanics, if you cant make a confident swing in a tournament, you wont hit good shots. and believe me, if youre thinking of all this mechanical shit, you wont ever be able to free up and swing freely again. Look at all the shitty mechanics that are on tour, it DOESNT MATTER WHAT YOU SWING LIKE

  • ERRR? Not sure this fella talks about any mechanics at all. All he says is screw your right foot into the ground and toss the clubhead back against that braced right leg.....as he says in other vdeos, his swing is done as soon as the clubhead passes his left foot.....Jaysus!...I would kill to be as mechanical as this guy...try Shawn Clement.

  • Yeah, not sure he is getting mechanical. By the way if that is your swing on your youtube page, damn nice swing. Critique all you want, would kill to have that kind of swing. Mine looks like a monkey $%*&^@$ a football.

  • this guy is an absolute tool!!!!!

  • Hey Mike, What kinda handicap do you carry?

  • cooper one, he's as pro i guess

  • Hey Mike, I love your book! Help me out with my driver....I hit my irons pure, but I snap hook my driver bad...HELP

Did you make it Florida? We need an update...

  • This is really, really good!! It's funny how things sometimes work. Not being aware of this video until a few days ago, I had actually been talking with another instructor about this exact right foot action about a month ago (he discovered it 40 years ago, but hadn't used it much in his teaching) and we both came to the conclusion that Hogan really may have meant this when he said "it is in the dirt." It definitetly works and there is no way to come over the top if you do this. Great work!!

  • What do you think of Explanar , the swing plane device?

  • camerman - shut the fuck up

    golfer - great job

  • no offense, but this camera guy needs to shut the hell up and let the man talk. Everytime he is explaining something he gets interupted with a useless comment.

  • Brilliant!!!

  • I like this vid.

  • "for cryin' oat load!" - that's excellent! I love the swing, man! You're awesome!

  • The" toes in the shoes" really helped me. I was bad about falling forward on the downswing, especially with the irons which was causing a lot of toe pulls. Great advice there!

  • Great Video! One question if you dont mind. What exactly do you mean by "cup under it. Johhny miller it." What type of release is this? do any of the PGA tour players do this? Johhny Miller had impeccable distance control!

  • Hi Mike,

I think I am feeling your "compression" move. As I begin my transition, I feel like my right butt cheek "falls" back to the target, and my right knee feels like it is forced to point down to the ground and inward. There is a sense of squatting/sitting while my back continues to face the targetl. Am I close?.... Thanks!

  • Great Video, i have a question though, when i swing, i start my downswing by rotating and sliding my hips and lower body, i have been having a lot of trouble lately because when i do this, i end up hitting inconsistent shots, they are all over the place, people have told me i have too much lateral movement on my downswing, but after watching hogans swing, he has lateral movement as well, what am i doing wrong?

  • are you a pro

  • Not in the traditional sense. I have given lessons and have been paid for that but I am not a member of any professional organization.

  • Hey Mike, love the videos. I was outside trying out your ideas and noticed when I pivot onto the right leg, my right knee bends. It appears that your right knee straightens in the back swing, which leads to my question; does the knee need to straighten or does my bending action just serve to help me "get shorter" in transition as you explain in your other videos. As a note I am 6'2" so this may just be an issue of my build being different than yours.

  • It is hard to advise on this without seeing your swing, but I would say that compressing on the backswing is a better idea than standing up. My right knee may straighten a bit on some shots but I never allow it to lock out.

  • Hi Mike,

Sorry, off course I mean the left hand ;o)

    Regards - Kim

  • My left wrist is in a flat to bowed position at impact and that position depends somewhat on the shot that I am trying to play. I do not set it that way throughout the backswing. It moves into this position on the downswing because I am rotating the handle and therefor also the clubhead slightly as my hands drop and the right arm extends.

  • Hi Mike,

    Super videos!!!

A simple question - do you keep a straight or a bowed right hand wrist, during your swing?

Best regards - Kim (from Denmark)..

  • Mike, you mention you felt this for the first time doing the "Trevino" move. Could you do another video explaining this?

It may help us get the feeling you are talking about. Thanks!

  • That sounds like I good idea. I will see what I can do next time I get out to the lake.

  • Great vid. Went to the drivingrange and tried to "screw the right foot clockwise into the ground", and i hit some strokes like I never had before. Crisp and powerful. But a lot of my shots went to the right or had a slice in them. all though im not sure, I think I might have stood to far from the ball at adress and/or not enough pronounce in the backswing. Any thoughts on that? It could be something very different, i'm not sure

  • Great video,few questions.

How much weight is on the left foot at impact ?

Is the move from the right to the left to create power through momentum when you shift.

    Thanks

  • How much weight is on the left foot at impact depends on the shot I am trying to play. My shift is late, but my weight still gets to the left. On some shots as much as 90 %, but it arrives just in time, not early in the downswing.

  • The reason I want the shift "through the ball" is because once I lose the pressure in the right side the stall begins and I have lost my ability to both push and pull the clubshaft. The only thing left to keep the clubhead going at that point is a flip. By retaining pressure in the shaft I also have better control of the blade angle. Power through momentum of the body is not the point. It is all about preserving leverage to swing against. Power is nonetheless the byproduct.

  • Hi Mike. Love your videos! A great compliment to Five Lessons. I've read most of the comments here, but I may have missed this (possibly in the video as well). You are suggesting I put clockwise rotational pressure on the right leg throughout the swing, with the pressure only being released as the right foot rotates on the follow through. Correct? Could you clarify a little? Thanks in advance!!

  • That is right. The feeling of that rotational pressure does not reverse in transition. It leaves when the weight leaves and the last of the weight leaves the right side rather late in this motion. You are moving left in the downswing but you achieve the move to the target by moving the middle of the body back to the target. The mass follows this. When the pressure leaves the right leg the right heel releases towards the target as it rises.

  • Cuckoo for Cocoa puffs...

    Nice infomercial.

  • Scoff all you want brother, your missing out.

  • The dogs ballocks!!!!

  • Hello Mike. I have had Hogans book for years and really believe in it, but never really got the full benefit. I watched your vid on "the move" and bingo.... screw the right leg into the ground!!! Thats all I needed to do . Cheers mate.

  • That's great to hear.

You are simply firming up the right side by giving a specific diretion to the "Live Tension" that Hogan speaks about in 5 Lessons. It firms up the whole action.

  • Mike, I feel like in transition with this, that before my arms reach the top of the backswing, my right butt cheek is moving/falling down to the left which gives me the feeling like I am squatting/getting shorter. Do you get this same feeling when you do it? Thanks!

  • Basically yes. It feels like you are backing into the target befor things start to unwind and reverse direction.

  • This thought of screwing your right side into the ground is like winding up a spring. I then use my foot and right leg to "unwind" th power as needed. It is deadly for controlling short irons and wedges once you understand the feeling. It's too bad people always want to attack instead of learn. Unfortunately our country and modern society lacks discretion. The first ammendment should have a douchebag clause. Appreciate your time and effort Sevam.

  • You are most welcome. Thanks for the vote of confidence.

  • I have to agree, I have just come from the range. I have never peppered the ball like I did tonight. I have very good hands, and i was a "handys" player. I hit a lot of great shots, but my bad shots were just a good. Using my left foot as a pivot(I am LH) and screwing it in the ground has change my game. My sweet spot on my irons was in total shock tonight I hit it so much. I did not hit 1 pull hook(200 balls hit), which I have serious issues with. Thanks again Mike!!!!

  • I have been watching these videos and like others I was skeptical (no offense). I was trying to find something wrong... But mike is puring the ball over and over. The balance and pure release are blantant on every swing. I have been implementing the footwork into my game and it's a huge improvent. Screwing my leg into the ground has changed my swing in ways I can't describe.

  • I like this guy's approach to teaching and hits it a sight better than most teachers out their. To the hoganfan, the guy said he was a +2 when he quit

  • You state that you begin the back swing with a "lateral move". I was always told that the hips should pivot straight back with zero lateral movement because it shifts the axis. Isn't it considered bad to have hips sliding in the swing?

  • I can do it either way but I like to put some early inertia into the clubhead with a slight body shift away from the target so that I have somethinge to react to. When I do that the base of the spine moves away from the target and then returns toward the target in transition. So the spine tics and tocs. I can also at address preset the spine where I want it at the end of the backswing. If I do that then there is only the toc part. Basically I swing spine and shift the axis on every pass.
