@jaca1 Ray Comfort? Yeah, he's got a great sense of humor. Sadly though many atheists don't have the wits to see his banter as humor, they get very up-tight about it. However, if you've ever read any of his works they are put together quite well. I'd recommend his book "You can lead an atheist to evidence but you can't make him think."

Btw, you said "all", and Comfort is just one man. If you base your opinion of Christians by one man (or so called "spokesmen") then you need to look elsewhere.

@mikeyboy86 Might I recommend works by Dr. Frank Turek, Normal L. Geisler, Ravi Zacharias, Lee Strobel's compilation of Christian scholarly and apologetic interviews.

If you are wanting a look at a true Christian life-style rather than the building evidences of God's existence or Christian truths, look at people like Francis Chan's website, or Jentezen Franklin's, or Perry Stone. These people who actually live the Bible as it says we should. Perhaps then your assessment of us will change.

@jaca1 Another show of your ignorance of the Bible. Go do a study on this and you'll see you are sadly mistaken. Slaves back in those days were actually treated like "one of the family", often entrusted to raise their children, and even given their own space to call their own home. It wasn't until later when people STOPPED following the Word of God that slaves began to be mistreated. Until you actually do some research, stop embarrassing yourself, you need to broaden your learning.

@mikeyboy86 I'll say one thing on the beating though... The Bible is pretty clear to anyone with a sense of intelligence. Disciplining a slave was tolerated. It ties in with the same disciplinary action as with a child "Spare the rod spoils the child". If the slave were to die from the discipline, the owner was punished. Why? Well if he killed his slave, CLEARLY he acted out of false reasons or emotions.

A man once taught a few years ago not to spank children... his son later committed suicide.

@jaca1 You've been conditioned by the environment and people you know to believe what you do. Your definition of "Morality" was invented by someone you know or by yourself. It's not absolute morality, therefore, you have no say in the matter of what's moral. You don't seem to be a student of the Bible at all, nor do you have any appearance of being historically learned, so I'll give you the benefit of assumption that you just don't get it. Nor can I explain it to you until you're ready to learn.

@jaca1 What logic? There was absence of logic in your so-called "answer". You fail miserably to see the reasons why any of these things were ordered by law. The killings, the beatings (or disciplines) all of it had everything to do with Israel's survival, the "ending the wicked before it became worse" scenario, and much much more. Thank God that so many races were ended before they destroyed the world by their wicked ways. You don't understand that though... because you were taught wrong.

I know, it's just because of where you grew, so I won't hold it against you. But you really do need to learn more about these topics before you start speaking out against them, you'll just keep embarrassing yourself if you do. Please, for your sake, your family, etc., please learn more about all of this.
