I think that's a lie or at least a misunderstanding. It just depends upon the situation of the friendship. If you've known a girl all your life and she's been a good friend to you, you probably won't even see her in a sexual way. That little switch gets turned off in your brain. And there are plenty of people who enjoy being friends with a person but realize that adding sex to the mixture would only complicate the situation and make it worse.
