@nfs3fan2 LOL! Just as you typed that, I had approved it! Just goes to show how little you know about me.
Anyway, if all you are doing is bad mouthing me, i.e. displaying your prejudices, rather than entering serious debate about road safety for all road users, then it would be perfectly reasonable for me to block you, don't you think?
@nfs3fan2 you want a serious debate? ok. you are a bicycle. nothing wrong with that however if you are going to be on a street where motorized vehicles are going, shouldn't you be in the area clearly marked for bicycles?
@nfs3fan2 That would be a good idea if they were designed properly and didn't often make cycling more dangerous. If you are honestly interested, google 'get in the bloody cycle lane', where I describe in a bit more detail why cycle lanes, aren't always the safest place to cycle.
@magnatom maybe it's different here in the US but when you are in the bike lane (which is on the right side of the road) but it's just understood that cars that are bigger than you and can kill you have right of way.
@nfs3fan2 Thank goodness its different over here! All road users have a duty of care, especially when passing/interacting with more vulnerable road users. It still needs work though. Just look at the Netherlands to see how well it can work.. In the US there still seems to be a attitude that bigger is better etc. That'll change with the rise fuel costs!
@magnatom and the casual bikers realize this but the average serious biker think they own the road and it pisses people off. therefore i'm a jerk and a dick (i'll admit it) and when i'm on the motorcycle, i usually see how close i can get to them and rev as i'm going by if they aren't in the bike lane.
There are good and bad cyclist, good and bad drivers, good and bad motorcyclists etc. You can't paint all by the actions of some. What do you gain from your buzzing? As a motorcyclist, you too are vulnerable, so what about car drivers who do the same to you?
If we could all chill out, we'd all get on better, don't you think?
That was terrible driving, should seriously get done for that maneuver or at least be spoken to by the traffic cops, did you ever show that video to the cops?
is there even any signage for vehicles to stop? it didn't look like there was any signage for the vehicle in front of you to stop @ .40 seconds however it did look like there was another intersection @ .51 seconds where the the car should have seen the cyclist pretty nasty spot
a cycle lane is for cyclists. i suggest that you use it in the future. you say gutter hugging is bad but then ou drive in the middle of the road blocking the traffic behind you and then you complain when they almost knock you over when overtaking. with respect to cycle lanes and junctions maybe it would be a good idea for cyclists to stop and check before blindly cycling across it. think of it as if you are a pedestrian. look before you cross
The lane is where a cyclists is supposed to be. cycle lanes are not maintained as passable thurofares (sp?), at least not in the US. I think it would be a big help if motorists learned (and obeyed) the law.
Some cycle facilities seem to be 'designed' by a bunch of idiots high on drugs.
If you don't believe me: google 'cycle facility of the month'
You will see cycle lanes that are just plain dangerous to use, some that are blocked by bollards, telephone boxes and fences.
There are are also numerous other interesting ideas for cycle transportation, where utility and cyclist safety clearly weren't anywhere on their list of priorities.
You are obviously very insecure about how well your video stands up to scrutiny or you are intellectually weak if you feel the need to block people who disagree with you. BYE!!
In your case, you were also turning left anyway, you had no reason to remain out of the cycle lane (unless you were deliberately blocking passes again).
I think this is more about driver behaviour than an argument against the existence of cycle lanes. The driver was clearly in the wrong (according to my local road rules). As it happens when turning say left on a road with a cycle lane, it is legal (and advisable) for the motorist to merge into the cycle lane (I think the legal distance is 10 metres from the turn) - and this gets rid of the problem of accidentally cutting off or getting in front of a cyclist.
What's wrong with the lane? You're not in it! OOOOOOH SNAP!!! Haha, just kidding. That's a pretty atrocious design right there.

@2wheelsteve No. The police probably wouldn't have been bothered as the cyclist wasn't bothered. He must have had blinkers on!

that cyclist almost learned the hard way to look for tuning cars!!! dipstick

Or perhaps drivers should consider cyclelanes as as another lane of traffic and take care before crossing the lane?

idiot. if there is a cycle lane, use it.

bicycle can use the road , but if they are a cycle road ( like in the video ), you need to use it . Well it is the reglementation in canada .

You should fix it yourself. I can imagine you being the kind of guy who carries a little bucket of paint around so you can fix bad road layouts. =P

You aren't using it/ It's not full of dead cyclists/It's not actually green in areas.

I wonder, would a council permit a through travel lane (for motorists) to be painted on the left of a left turn lane?

It's an argument against all cycle lanes that only have paint to separate the cyclist from cars.
