Its like the war protesters have just gone away or the media is no longer reporting on it because they don't want to make Obama look bad. So it just makes me wonder how many were really against the war and how many were just anti Bush. I know Cindy Sheehan is still protesting it but I never see the media reporting on it.

Yes, the situation is much worse now.
The situation will become unimaginably worse still if Mr. Bush proceeds with his plans to attack Iran. This could become a global conflict with hundreds of thousands of American deaths and tens of millions of civilian deaths.

Bruce Springsteen received a draft notification when he turned 18. He reported for induction, but was ruled ineligible for military service due to a leg injury received in a motorcycle accident when he was 17.
The person who removed U.S. combat forces from Vietnam was Richard M Nixon (after killing 4 Million Vietnamese civilians and 2 million Cambodian civilians), I've never heard him described as a leftest by anyone before.

How exactly do you know what he did to avoid the draft? By the way, my friend was nearly rejected from the Army because he broke his femur when he was 12. It took a lot of paperwork to get him through that...and he was volunteering.

Bruce Springsteen's draft issues have been written about in multiple biographies by a range of people from loyal friends to bitter enemies. I'm not aware anyone has a different story to tell.
In any event, the draft is clearly unconstitutional given the 13th Amendment, clause 1: Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

I am curious as to why the second anyone dares to question the legitamacy of the war they are attacked with the sad events on 911. The same events that were used to stir up jingoism to justify Iraq (Afghanistan I can understand) and are accused of spitting in the face of serving troops etc etc? The responsibility for the American disaster in Vietnam stretches across six Presidents and 15 Congresses of both major parties. The problem is not Republican or Democrat. The problem is a mistaken belief that Americans are either morally justified or made physically safer by intervening in foreign countries, taking their resources, selling and/or giving them huge stockpiles of advanced military equipment, assassinating their political leaders and killing large numbers of their citizens.

Those Grammys had all these overblown, overproduced, pyrotechnic performances with bikini dancers & lip synching, and The Boss just went up with a harmonica & an acoustic guitar & just threw down & walked off. It was just so shocking to see actual music performed with true emotion. Say what you want about his voice, his heyday, his politics. The performance was totally pure, & that is rare.
