  • 100 against 1,200 we are brave but incredibly stupid. You only need to be brave. Thank you, for fighting in that war.

  • Agreed christo930

  • The Japanese were right,, we ARE APES, and so are they! We are all apes.

  • Tank B8...Bait...

  • If i was back in the WWII period, I rather join the airborne to fight the Krauts. Joining the Marine Corps to fight the japanese is going to be a nightmare, fighting a far more brutal, barbaric and suicidal enemy would be HELL.

Chance of surviving in the European theater - 75%

Chance of surviving in the Pacific theater - 33%

  • @TheStickUpKid187 yet we still kicked their ass

  • @XtremeColtM1911 yes it was an American Victory but suffered heavy losses.

  • @TheStickUpKid187 You mean to say that 66 percent died in the pacific? Wrong.

And 25 percent did not die in the European theater either. We had ove 8 million people worldwide in uniform at the end of WW2. All total, there were around 200,000 killed. That is a big number, but when you do the math, it is only 2.5 percent of the military at the time.

  • you know, it wasn't JUST the Americans that fought in the Pacific, yea they were the main allied forces to fight. but British, New Zealanders, and Australians also fought against the Japs. RIP

  • @HelterSkelterSOR and Canadians cause one of my great grandparents fought there

  • @HelterSkelterSOR Indeed they did. New Zealanders and Australians moreso than the regular British (they were closer, and weren't engaged in India, North Africa, and Europe, so they could afford to send more personnel), but they all made significant contributions to the war effort.

  • LOL japanese spirit??? lmao... AMERICAN SPIRIT MOTHERFUCKER SEMPER FI

  • @0351assman1 dont talk about semper fi plz...

  • @Yuuuupedwin suck a dick plz

  • American colonial militias and troops feared Native Americans on the same level when they were fighting for their country. The post-Civil War U.S. figured it needed to deploy more than 10,000 soldiers to handle the Apache and Geronimo who never had more than perhaps 100 warriors. The more a society emphasizes the individual ego, the more its soldiers will fear death, and vice-versa.

  • @37Dionysos

Geronimo was an expert not only in the war he was fighting but living off the land. So while the army could fight him they could not do so without supplies.

  • No Japanese were seeking into the war . They forced Japanese empire to go to the war with the political conspiracy by ABCD trade disconnection. Most of them in this film(I would say "all") misunderstood the history in this point. But I can say that the war was based on OUR ancestors' fight against RACISM, the skin of color make difference between superiority. As you know, after the war, many countries could made independent from Anglo-Saxon style of imperialism, exploitation based.

  • No Japanese were seeking into the war and willing to risk wars. They forced Japanese empire to go to the war with the political dirty by ABCD disconnection.

  • Even though he had big Influence... I dont like Dale Dye.

  • it was both brutal, but wonderful. that was an america that was willing to do whatever it took to protect itself. to fight a war like that topday would be impossible. every misfire would warrent a huge investigation, press outlets would be embedded looking to make names for themsleves by running "expose's" on OUR PEOPLE, it would have to be a politically correct war on our side, and the rules of engagement would never allow our marines to do what they had to do not only to win but survive.

  • however 60.000 were willing to die like Japs?

  • I wonder how the US invasion and successful reform of Japan compares with problems in Afghanistan. What if anything was different in their approach? Politically were there any differences?

  • @garageflower2002 The primary difference is a sociopolitical one, as well as simple force of arms deployed. The Japanese were socialized to respect strength and honor, and after seeing the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, they decided that it was a better idea to go with the US, which offered them aid in rebuilding and promised not to threaten their sovereignty. And that's another thing, the Japanese had a legitimate government, they weren't run by a terrorist group.

  • I'm proud to say I have no Japanese blood in me.

  • @dmk1979 Not all japanese are bad..but they just obay their king.....think in backwards, if US have japan as support into iraq or iran battle , US would have more change of winning........

  • @dmk1979

Remember, we are all one, we are all children of god.

  • @idk2say Japs are children of a dickless pirate-God with one testicle. FUCK all Japs! FUCK 'EM!

  • @dmk1979

I hope that someday you will find the light.

  • @idk2say Oh yeah?? Well I hope the next hooker I have sex with is Japanese so I can make her eat the corn nibblets out of my SHIT! AUUUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @dmk1979

Talk to me again after you go through puberty.

  • @dmk1979 Ooorah

  • @dmk1979 fuck you! war is a war they fought what they belive! Honor is a part of an culture!!

  • I respect HBO for posting this. I wish all production companies were so generous with their copyrighted material. Great video, too. High quality.

  • @airace1997 ya i did hear about their chemimcal weapons but didnt know that they used it on their own people! Thats crazzyyyy thanks for the info though its nice to learn things that I actually care about hahaha other than shit i have to learn in school.

  • Wig alert 1.31

  • whats that haircut that sledge, hoosier and leckie have called?

  • @airace1997 Oh right, cheers

  • fighting because of vengence is wrong.

  • @prGRMY12 fighting for vengence isnt wrong...war in general is wrong. and id much rather have wars fought over vengence (you attacked me now your ass is dead) than having one fought over religion (my god's dick is bigger than your god's) just because revenge isnt necisserily a reliable sorce for justice that doesnt mean its any less acceptable than fighting for any other reason. if you think about it all battles have been fought for revenge. some are too covered up with BS to see it

  • @BellumSacrumBellum28 wow your soooo cool and soooooo tough talking shit on America on youtube. You probally think your so cool now were are you from? Your probally a pissed off racist kid. Go burn in hell you prick.

  • @yosean2 Americans hate each other, and the rest of you blind morons either cannot see that or are too weak and afraid to admit it. America is going down fast and hard and real fucking soon. Again, blind people like you cannot see it.

  • @BellumSacrumBellum28 you are a discrace, no better than the Americans OR JAPANESE depicted in WWII, wallowing in your own hate of others. how many americans have you ACTUALLY met huh, because i most certainly don't hate other americans?

  • @yosean2 I'm sorry you're a nigger. It must truly suck. Oh well, Have a nigger day

  • @BellumSacrumBellum28 Which country are you from?No country is perfect and at some point in history they fucked up so bad everyone just hated them.Ignorant fuck

  • The US 442nd Infantry regiment were Japanese Americans they courageously fought and broke through the German Gothic line to rescue a unit of aprox 250 American soldiers trapped behind German lines and took around a 1000 casualties in the process.

So looking how the Japs bravely defended those pacific islands you can well imagine the almost fanatical valor it took to break through the battle hardened soldiers holding the German lines

  • @madeinEngland64

    Apples and oranges.

Cannot compare German forces to Japanese, the latter of which were raised form birth to die honorably with no surrender. Yes you can make correlations to Hitler's youth and such, but the Japanese were in a league of their own.

I don't recall any banzai attacks by Germans.

  • @drizzt4418 Nowhere in my comment did i compare the Japs to the Germans however in WW2 and WW1 for that matter it was a war of attrition on all sides, victory at all cost, what do you think the Yanks were doing on the Pacific islands? attacking constantly moving forward no matter what the cost.

Furthermore soldiers on all sides of the great war went over the top in suicidal attacks on the enemy lines.

We Brits took over 60,000 casualties in ONE day alone at the Somme.

  • @madeinEngland64 60.000 were willing to die like Japs?

  • @madeinEngland64 Somme was a very very nasty battle... but the problem was with the tactics. Everyone during that war was using antiquated tactics with what was, at the time, cutting edge technology. The same happened during the American Civil War (battle of Gettysburg, 51,000 casualties in 3 days), and almost always happens whenever new technology is embraced while clinging to old tactics.

  • @Thatevilmidget Not to mention Antietam, in September 1862. 25,000 dead in one day. There's a great book on Antietam called "Landscape Turned Red". If you are interested in the civil war you will find this book fascinating.

  • @madeinEngland64 Yes, and General Haig (British), at one time made the comment, when high casualties were reported to him, that this was nothing more than "normal wastage" . My God, how much of a human being's character do circumstances have to strip away before one becomes able to think in that manner?

  • @drizzt4418 Are you dumb?Bet you flunk history classes

  • the japanese were tough motherfuckers, thats for sure

  • Japan went to war because the U.S. wanted to make Japan a third world country. It is because of Japan and Germany that we have a multipolar world.

  • @WavesOfTrolls "Japan went to war because the U.S. wanted to make it a third world country" eh? Yeah sure, unlike Japan actions in Asia, once they'd defeated it and occupied it the US gave Japan a strong democratic constitution, freed women and gave them the vote, declared the emperor as what he was - human and NOT a God, liberated people from the brutal secret police, rebuilt the economy into into an economic superpower and Asia's richest country. Some 'Third World country' they made of it eh?

  • @EvilSirJasper They realized if they just nuked them, they'd come back and come back and a race war would probably break out.

  • @EvilSirJasper the U.S. didn't really want to help Japan. In fact, they helped Europeans a lot more. LOL SK and Japan pretty much did it on their own.

  • this video is educational

  • @combatdoc21 this is the best war video i have ever seen in my life.

  • Comment removed

  • @combatdoc21 This comment is obvious.

  • Very moving at the ending, showing changing feelings and both sides coming to terms after the war ends. Peace needs forgiveness and reconciliation to exist.

  • japs had no fuckin idea what they were getting into on pearl harbor

  • @HalfDeadFatGuy0 Some did. Admiral Yamamoto was educated here prior to WWII and he understood our nature. He tried to tell his government that a war with the US would not be assured. He knew that even though we loved our individualism, if anyone attacked us, we would band together rapidly, especially if we were ambushed.

There's a quote he made about us after the attack on Pearl, check it out, it's pretty insightful.

  • Time for some Deadliest Warrior stuff: German ss Soldiers, vs Japanese Soldiers.

  • @crapheadalex The SS Waffen had equipment beyond that time period, The Japanese would just fail completely.

  • @renno103 Complete ignorance . The Japanese built aircraft carriers . Where were Germany's ? The Japanese built jet fighters not as bombers as Germany did . The Japanese had the best submarine technology that was advanced beyond the 60's . The Japanese knew how to use artillery and air power together to advance infantry , Germany never figured this out.

  • @Pyromancy451 Not exactly true, much of the Japanese military technology was often given to them, or stolen, though they did make many things by themselves. Though Jet techology and aircraft designs were given to them by Germany in hopes Japan could continue the war. Germany had the MOST Advanced Submarines by the end of the war. Japan had some of the most unique, and largest Submarines of the war though.

  • @Luminahawke Wrong wrong and wrong. The Japanese had the most advanced torpedo's beyond American or German . Their subs could travel farther faster and longer underwater than U boats could ever dream of The Japanese Fast Sub was the prototype for the more modern Nautilus Subs.. Frank Whittle invented jets , The Japanese took his invention and applied better than the Germans did. Most people think the Germans were advanced because we let the Russians believe it they had the German stuff.

  • Everyone loses something in war, be it a comrade, a significant other, or themselves.

  • I think you mix up the average german wehrmacht soldat with the SS soldat (big difference) Get your facts right and pay attention next time in history class.

  • @nirsi19

It's pretty easy to confuse Waffen-SS troops with regular Wermarcht, in battle Waffen-SS units wore the same field uniforms as the regular Wermarcht the only difference was Waffen-SS units wore the infamous double Sieg Rune (the S rune) on their collars, black uniforms were seldom worn after the war began

  • what you say is treu but I think you mean the average wehrmacht soldier. do al little research about the SS soldaten and then we speak again. and don't be a keyboard warrior with your shut the fuck up 14 year old. ( and pay attention in hidtory class.)

  • @Fatboyswim123 you drown in your backward cult

  • @Fatboyswim123 HA HA HA, another muslim parasite blaming somebody else for his backward idiot cult that makes him a slave. PARASITE your opinion is as important as a dead fly on the windscreen of a car. So go back to your goatfucking and in a few hundred years, after you dumped that backward cult, you would be able to join the developed world Until that time: rot in your mudhut country, slave.

  • oh man i mean wht they said at the begining is the absolute truth i dont think dropping the bomb on hiroshima and nagasaki was rite but i undersand why they did that imagine ur a soldier who thinks hes seen it all whos seen an enemy run at thim with a sword rather then be captured and then u arive at the home islands and find out the WOMEN AND CHILDREN were ready to fight the the death. there wouldnt be a japan left

  • I can see why the us dropped the bomb

Invading japan would be like fighting the entire population as well

Loses would have been every battle put together

  • Each time I listen the whole season of The Pacific, I got more respect for the United States of America, You can insult 'em.. But remember that they saved the planet from demons like hitler. They are only taking what they won. But there is some morons like Bush.. It's not the "whole" US.

Those Marines and Soldiers will always stay in my mind. You guys did great job!

    -MiseryYT From Canada

  • more like bull-seeto......

  • W I Marines! Morte ai musigialli!!!

  • Well, McArthur.... your wish has not been fulfilled. Thank Bush for that...

  • @BonhommeHero You do realize there were other wars and other presidents before Bush right?

  • @Fatboyswim123 First; over 8000 missiles and mortars were launched against Israel from Gaza, the people in Gaza voted Hamas in on their " destroy Israel " politics so they knew what they were getting in for. Third; ALL bombs/mortars/rockets/explosives cut of limbs, they are NOT banned by the UN or Geneva. Hiding behind civilians is though, terror against civilians is as well. So muslim man; blame yourself, your leaders and your backward cult, NOT the rest of the world!!

  • @Tralgit if you research the muslim religion you'll find that they are not like those terrorists their religion is a peacefull one. its not all of them its just a few of them that think its about terrorising.

  • @jimmyelmer7 It's time you read the koran; " Jihad ", holy war, is a holy task for every muslim. Islam wants world domination, just like the Nazi's and communists and there are several ways of getting there. Muslims are the most backward people on the planet due to their cult..Their is not one (1) muslim, educated in a muslim country, that got a Nobel prize for science/medicine.

Muslims are the parasites of the developed world.

  • @Tralgit hey guy, did you know Karon is actually spelled Quran and jihad literally translates to struggle. You should really admit that you either are badly in need of proper study of Islam & mideastern culture or admit you are a bigoted xenophobe. I got back from Iraq this year on deplyment so dont tell me i hate america & im unpatriotic. I just bother to study

  • @tonysayswhatsup Its called KORAN, not Karon! Your spelling is the English one, for the rest; I know all about it, we have too many of these muslim parasites here that cost us $ 400,000.-- per head to integrate So take your pallywood BS and take a hike. I just came back from an assignment in a no go area in my hometown, 95% muslim cockroaches.

  • @Tralgit you sound like you are a isreali jew. now its no surprise you have uncompromising hatred and predjudice for any muslims. the respectful spelling of their holy book is Quran. you should open your mind and not hate an entire religion of people. its amazing to me how the isreali state is full of unashamed bigots towards muslims. your people were massacred because of bigotry but you learned nothing from it. this is sad

  • @Tralgit I believe Jihad means, in direct translation, self exertion, not "Holy War", but astrive to spread Islam. Not necessarily wage war

  • @ChristianWarriorUSA You are wrong; Jihad means war against the non believer, everybody that is not a muslim. Look up my favorites for more information.

  • @Tralgit ignorance u are a perfect example

    of a FOOL!!!

  • @kanay71

"it was officially to impress the ennemy"

Justement pour qu'il arrete la guerre, reflechit

  • Hiroshima and Nagasaki destructions were not necessary to end the war. It's the biggest lie ever made by the US. The theory that all the people in Japan, even women and children, were ready to die for the Emperor, is just there to make forget that it was a crime against humanity. Pure propaganda, and it still works!

The same theory is applicable to the destruction of Dresden (Germany), it was officially to impress the ennemy. Trully it was a crime.

  • @kanay71 necessary or not is an opinion and debatable until now. But for sure, don't fuc*ed with USA. lol

  • they dropped a little boy and a fat man in japan?

  • Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg can kiss my ass. Tom Hanks has the audacity to say that men who joined the military after Pearl Harbor did it for the wrong reasons. What a shithead. Why doesn't he go tell that to all of the veterans who joined the military after 9/11? The fact that these two actually think they know something about war is disgusting. I watched the first episode and all I saw was them bashing the Marine Corps and feeling sorry for the Japanese.

  • @JCGlock87 "The fact that these two actually think they know something about war is disgusting."

Yea, cause I'm sure you being a 23 year old who hasn't done shit has every right to determine who knows what.

Last time I checked, Hanks and Spielberg help create the most honest and historically accurate depictions of WWII ever seen. But you're probably right, they don't know anything.

  • @drizzt4418 You're right. I'm 23 and I haven't done anything, but I'm critiquing this show with my father and grandfather who are Marine Corps veterans. My father is a Vietnam veteran and my grandfather is a WWII veteran who fought in the Pacific theater. They're the ones who DO know something about war. How can Hanks and Spielberg be honest when the first show was clearly wrapped around their anti-war, anti-Marine Corps agenda?

It's scary that people get their history from these two.

  • @JCGlock87 ". Tom Hanks has the audacity to say that men who joined the military after Pearl Harbor did it for the wrong reasons"

    1. He didn't say that, that's what you heard.

    2. Yes, all those veterans who joined up after 9/11 did so only because of the false sense of patriotism they felt after the attacks. When I look around now almost a decade later I see nothing but resentment for our country.

    3. They made the series, you're just fucking watching it. They know more than you. STFU.

  • Hirohito is Emperor Showa

  • It's hard to say which theater of war was the worst? Christ all mighty, the Pacific has to to be up there.

  • My dad, 90 yrs old now, is a decorated WWII veteran, served in the Pacific. He is a good man, a good American who served his country well. I resent the demeaning comments from young people that do not understand the great sacrifices these brave men and women did for our country. Many American youth iare soft, weak and lack of a purpose driven life. If they could only bother to read American History, their view of life might change a little, and they would become better persons.

  • i would have liked to have seen but glad didnt happen is X-Day when America invades Japan that would have been good to learn about

  • i like behind the scenes stuff

  • "Death before dishonor " isnt it SAS moto now?

  • @Kapelannew "Who Dares Wins" is the SAS motto

  • @Nerosk117 did your grandpa go into more detail on what happened there i would love to hear more on that battle

  • @salemhodson i wud think a banzai charge wud be scary. yer grandpa deserves respect, as do all vetrans of all conflicts. our history teacher told us about banzai charges. i love WWII history so i new more bout it that he didnt explain, but whatever. sum girls in my class thought "banzai" was a funny word and wud say it and start laughing for the rest of that week. untill i explained to them wat a banzai charge actually was. not so funny anymore. i wish people wud learn and have respect.

  • Something just kept him going ???? Could some of it had been saki and meth cocktails ????

  • i agree with you gilbertrivas 17

  • i dont care what you all say but the japanese soldiers were very brave, followed the same bloodline from the samurai, to never accept defeat, never surrender unlike the cowardly german ss soldiers.

  • @gilbertrivas17 i don't think its right to call any soldier 'cowardly' i mean until you yourself have experienced something along the lines of what soldiers experienced in WW2 i don't think you have the authority to call even the most tyrannical of soldiers 'cowardly' the SS, no matter how evil you believe them to be, were very efficient soldiers that accomplished a lot for the Nazi's over the duration of the war

  • @gilbertrivas17 the Japs were too stupid to surrender.....a lot of those "cowardly german ss soldiers " lived a long life after the war.

  • @davidj1615 the japs are not stupid, they were taught that if they surrendered it will show cowardice and disgrace to their family and country. they were also taught to show brutality and hate Americans. On the contrary, the Germans SS surrendered and executed by the Red Army and been humilated. big difference dib shit.

  • @gilbertrivas17 You saw too many movies, Japanese soldiers did surrender and ask the soviets what they think about the SS, better, tell them you are an ex SS and wait for the reaction!!

  • @Tralgit well of course some japanese soldiers surrendered, but very few like hundreds compared to soviets, millions, german soldeirs lke thousands and as well as other armies, but the majority of the imperial army fought to the death and for their country.

  • @gilbertrivas17 do your home work about the Nazi Schutzstaffel. I don't say the japanese soldiers are cowards but it isn't the truth what you said about the SS.

  • @gilbertrivas17 Do your home work about Hitlers Schutzstaffel. I don't say the japanese soldiers are cowards but it isn't the truth what you said about the SS.

The pacific war was child play in contrast to the eastern front, battles that involved tens of thousends against millions on both sides. I don't say I don't respect marines or japanese soldiers but look further than the lenght of your nose.

    Take a seat son...

  • @nirsi19 yeah yeah i know all about the eastern front battles that involves 400,000 germans against 2.5 million soviet soldiers causing alot of casualties, however soviets captured alot of german surrendering even at Berlin fighting for their city! Hitler demanded all Berlin citizens to defend the city, and what did the russians find?, german soldiers hiding and surrendering instead of fighting. not to mention ss officers trying to escape from russians avoiding execution.

  • @nirsi19 so shut up and quit trying to convince me otherwise that the german soldiers were not cowards, ive done research, looked up evidence of video and photos, that i think its pathetic that these german animals beg for their life when theyre captured instead fighting for their country. American soldiers, Russians, Japanese are the true warriors of combat.

  • @gilbertrivas17 and thats why they died in droves, because they were suicidal idiots

  • @gilbertrivas17 German Waffen SS soldiers would be numerous times more dangerous than any Japanese Unit during World War Two. Both were tenacious and brutal, but the Germans actually had the innovative and modern strategies and weapons.

  • @corvettecrazy262 yes the Germans had better weapons than the japanese but they didnt have good strategies, well no shit they lost the fucken war. and the japanese were twice as more brutal than the Germans, the japanese actually ran up to am American soldier just to slit his throat.

  • @gilbertrivas17 iGNORANT FUCK

  • @gilbertrivas17 That is why they lasted 5 years against the worlds strongest superpowers right. Even in 1943 it was unsure who would win.

  • @gilbertrivas17 And I guess you were on the battlefield to notice that?

  • @gilbertrivas17 Actually your terribly misinformed like a lot of people are. The SS had 3 divisions in which each led different things the first was the secret police the sencond was the most infamous the deathheads which carried out the atrocities of the holocaust and third was the military special operations SS these men were brave unrivaled soldiers there commaderie and bravery were amazing they even took an oath to their own leader to sacrfice their life for him so you should learn more.

  • @gilbertrivas17 german soldiers were either fanatics. or farmers. the farmers NEVER wanted to fight.so know the facts before you insult people.

  • the japanese were so damn brain washed that they weren't going to stop until we A-bombed them.

  • This video has it right. The title of a great book, "War Without Mercy" says it all. For all the deep hatred both sides had for each other, I never felt any animosity when I lived in Japan.

  • I do not know with what weapons world war 3 will be fought, but i do know world war 4 will be fought with sticks and stones- Albert Einstein.

  • If emperor hirohito had surrendered or didn't start the war, the A-Bomb would of never been used and saved millions of lives.

  • Omg I love Snafu 0:16 I love this moment!

the emperor is god! Duty to God!

  • they need to make a serie about how it was on the other side they never made on :S

  • The Japanese started this racial superiority thing, even before the Nazis, the believed they were a race of supermen and that Americans were hairy apes.

The Japs slaughtered MILLIONS of women and children across Asia (China, Philippines, Viet Nam, etc).

Tom Hanks is a fucking douche!

  • @synaesthetics what are you talking about? Its math Japs = Bad. They bombed us for no fucking reason that's pretty bad in my book. and war is what makes us humans, World War 2 like all wars is great because it brings countries together under one common cause. Russians and Brits Americans and Australians all were brought together to fight for something they believed in so strongly they could just put all there differences aside and fight as brothers. Peace could never make a bond like that.

  • PBS told me that the Texas Board of Education decided to remove the word 'propaganda' from descriptions of the U.S. gov't's WWI uh, .... propaganda effort.

I guess those folks would look at these WWII materials and decide they weren't propaganda either ... synaesthetics is right - War demands a unique madness. Anyone who wants to whitewash the way we vilify our enemies is missing the point, jazzing up the citizenry is an art common to democracies and tyrannies alike.

  • @KrassoSzoreny Texas is a shithole!

  • @newmanfrigan dont you talk about texas bitch

  • i almost wanna cry......

  • thank you HBO for putting this up on youtube!

  • US beat the Japan at their own game when it came to island fighting. The japs were no match to the marines.

  • @loughran03 (1)Are you fucking retarded, all throughout the pacific campaign, in each island, what the best military minds thought would take a few days to conquer, took weeks of brutal, bloody day-long relentless battles with enormous casualties to both sides, Marines were low on ammo, men, supplies, moral, everything.

  • I am so addicted to this show. Waiting for episode 8. Too bad there's only 10 episodes.

  • War is War, you can't stop it, it's been in Human histor for Decaids. The war bin the pacific was a wild Fire and the only way to put out a wilf fire, you put a biger bang beside it, and the Amarican's had no chose but to drop the nucks on the japanise home land, it costed millions of lives but ended a savige war.

  • Japanese were doomed from the outset of the war. Even though the Japanese fought with courage and weren't afraid to enter a battle. They had poor equipment like bolt action rifles and bayonetts compared to americans thompson and carbine. Bolt action rifle < sub machine gun last time i checked.

  • Fucking japanese should pay their price for star this war and killing so many civillians , 2 nuclear are not good enough, THAT IS NOT BRUTALITY

  • Launch two nuclear weapons and kill 150,000 people and cow your enemy into surrender or be forced to commit a genocide of tens of millions and suffer almost a million losses of your own. Which seems like the better/least horrific choice to you?

  • @2112nico

Dude if you learn history, dropping little boy and fat man saved many lives. If the Allies were to invade mainland Japan, millions of lives would have been killed and much more Japanese civilians would have been killed.

  • @balbaldoodoo if you would learn history hirohito wanted peace 1 week before the bombs where dropped contact was not made due to a coup that failed the day before the bombs drop even if he did not wanted to surrender the bombs would have done nothing to sway him the normal bombings killed more then the 2 bombs combined the Tokyo fire bombings did more damage then the 2 atomic bombs combined with the normal bombings of other major citys.

  • @balbaldoodoo they were civilian cities! hiroshima and nagasaki had no military involvement whatsoever. america did NOT need drop on those specific cities. they could just as easily have dropped them on a military base.

  • @now5230 Civilian cities fought ww2. Cities like those did more than any military base for the war.

  • @now5230 You are incorrect. Hiroshima was the headquarters for an entire army group and the bomb that destroyed it detonated 1500 feet above its parade ground. Nagasaki contained a Mitsubishi factory that made torpedoes for the Japanese Imperial Navy.

Both cities were perfectly legitimate military targets.

  • @2112nico well it was the only way to end the war. japan would'nt surrender.

When the Japanese were about to surrender, I remembered it was Halsey who warn the Marines to stay on guard as the Japanese could have been saying 'we warn to surrender' to kill a few Americans.

Sadly, I think it a tragic if understandable point where the US Army did not trust the Japanese enough due to their relentlessness that they had to drop those bombs. Nukes were the start, it could have got worse from there as Marshall also suggested gas.

  • @2112nico look up unit 731. more civvies died from that at the hands of the japanese than the civs in hiroshima and nagasaki. nobody's perfect.

McArthur let loose japs of unit 731 in return on acquiring their human anatomy studies.

Dropping 100's of thousands of incendiary bombs on civilians: THAT'S BRUTALITY 2.
