  • In guess it is the potassium 40 in the rock. I have some potassium aluminium sulfate and potassium iodide.

  • Yes, I imagine that is it. I have heard that bananas can actually give a reading on very sensitive meters because of the potassium.

  • Yes- and some ice melter uses potassium chloride also which will result in a reading.
