i'm not sure where u got your info, but there was an ice rd. to tuk prior to 1981. i moved to inuvik in 1977 and the rd. was in use long before i got there. the only time i've ever heard of anyone going by dogsled is for old times sake.snowmobiles fazed out the regular use of dogsleds by the mid 60's
