  • try unplugging mass airflow sensor

  • What a piece of shit. Gotta hand it to you man, you know how to drive some of the shittiest cars ever made.

  • I have a 90 V8 3.5 EFI which I converted from being twin SU carbs. I had exactly the same problem, which plagued me for about 18 months. In the end I found the idle control screw (bypass air from inlet side of the butterfly) only made a useful difference if the second idle screw was set correctly. The second idle control screw is the small screw under the throttle stop. I undit this screw to bring it to about 1000 rpm then used the bypass air screw to lower the idle. Hope this helps...

  • Cheers guys. Very helpful. Think it may be a combination of problems. Hope that John Eales got his TDC right tho' !

  • Did you get an answer for this problem? I have a 4.6 EFI in a kit car and have the same problem!?

  • Hi,

Check out this excellent website: g33.co.uk/fuel_injection.htm

There is loads of info there regarding the EFi system and things to check.

Also, don't trust the TDC markings - mine were 10degrees out!

Although my original idling problems were different - high idle, please see my vids and posts within them as they may help you.

    Cheers,

    Tom

  • have you tried the CO adjustment screw on the AFM?

  • Could be a sticking stepper motor or not working at all, unplug and unscrew the idle air valve at the back of the plenum then either clean or replace it. about £40-£80 depending on quality
