@nikniks12 Maya 6.0 is pretty old now, you won't be able to get that version . .well not that I know of. I also have no idea what its worth not. Back then it cost a fortune.
you have done a great job with your child! For him to be able to do these things at such a young age AND explain the process better than most adults.... dang. You are really giving him a future!!! This vid really made me want to get this product for myself!
This kid lost me half way through. He truly knows his way around that software. It only proves that kids born in the last ten years have an improved mind/brain capability and that humans are evolving in that direction. Either that, or this is a con and voice manipulation was a big part in this video,
@oldproji No improvement in Mind/Brain capability and no con. He just had the desire to learn it because he liked the idea of being able to make things. He had the will and what I learned was if my son can learn to use Maya then there is no reason why any of us can't do anything in life. If a little boy can do this then nothing is too hard for us
@BMSWEB You are so right. Truth be told, if *I* can learn this stuff, anyone can. People have been trained to think that if you don't just "get it" all immediately, that you never will. Unfortunately that turns into people not even trying things. But I've gone out and had the attitude that I will suck at first and that incompetence will contribute to my learning something that knowing would have precluded. And it works out that way.
I currently use 3ds max. But i cant really tell the difference between the two, like the pro's/cons. IF some1 could tell me what they are that would be great!
@Clambercty I haven't used 3DS Max before but all you have to do is look at some of the images and animations produced buy it or even Blender for that matter and you soon realize its the person driving that app that makes the difference. Remember the application is only a tool and nothing more. Have a play with demos of both and then decide which you want to invest your time into.
There isnt really a huge difference. they both have very similar tools in terms of modeling, rigging and animating. I believe that the main difference really, is that maya is more an animation package, where 3DS is more for games design. I think maya also has better basic plugins for effects, like fire.
Regardless, both are owned by autodesk, and will inevitably merge into one program along the line, most likely 3DS max will merge into maya. Hope this was of some help.
When I was watching it I was thinking "how did this little kid afford this program?"
Pretty basic stuff that anyone who was serious enough to buy this would already know, but for his age this is pretty good.
Well, I actually had experience with blender for a while (I am taking a class now that uses Maya) so I am not going through the normal learning process.
Haha, this is great! Right at the end, how did he make it zoom in/out? He said just do "that," but I'm not exactly sure what "that" is. Any tips? Thanks! (:
@Solarpoweredspaz It cracked me up big time when I worked out he was taking a measurement with his fingers!! He gets really embarrassed when he watches this video now.
To the 123 dislike people, how good were you at making tutorials at 7 years old? On top of that, what programs on computers were you able to use at 7! lol Good job little dude keep it up! ;)
Dude your the kid who made the video we watch in class. That was a couple months ago, But we made your spaceship for our Desktop class, I even put my own version of it on my video. Its some where in the end, But this is the great tutorial, Thanks
@BMSWEB Cool, Yeah everyone enjoyed the video in my Desktop class. It was a lot better than some of the other tutorial videos we had to choose from. I'm actually surprised that a kid does better models on his own than a high schooler. I'm in high school and I did some cool things on maya, but For a kid to do that, That's really impressive, good job to him.
@xyger1337 In all honesty I was just as surprised. when he asked to do it, I was only humoring him. I only realized when I watched the captured video that he did OK and even used correct terminology. He turned 12 last weekend and is at the stage where he is a little embarrassed about the video.
@BMSWEB Well I don't understand what he has to be emberrest about, I'm sure he has his reason. But technically he indirectly thought an entire class full of high schoolers who had no idea what they where doing at the time. What other kid can say that his video was used to teach high schoolers. To me that's a major achievement, and you can take a step further. I'm sure hundreds of people on YouTube seen this and I'm pretty sure it helped them. Your son may nit know it, but he's great at Maya.
@xyger1337 I agree with you 100% and i've told him its a reminder to myself and others that anything is possible with hard work and that's what he should be looking at.
Your Son is better then me at this, and i'm turning 19 this year. And i've tried and tried several times to learn 3ds max, maya and the open source one (Can't remember the name).
He's probaly like 13 now, so if he said "I know how to use Maya!" people would be like "Wow your a Smart kid." and if he said it when he was 8 - 10 they would be like "WTF?!!?!?!?"
WoW! At the start I was thinking, bless him. Then at the end I was DAMN! That ship is pretty cool! He's got prospects for a decent job when he's older. 10/10
@faedrie Its funny because I just watched it for the first time in ages, I like the bit where he says "About two fingers" He's must have been taking measurement in comparison to his fingers lol
Nice one young man, I have just opened maya for the firs time and was looking for some good tutorials, you have shown everything I needed to know about making models nice and easy, thank you very much and I hope you will build more awesome space ship and other cool objects, stay cool !

@abstopmotion the kid who obviously is the one doing the tutorial is 7 years old, his dad the one who owns and work with maya is 46. Please read the descriptions.
@Quikie93 I am not 7 years old! I'm 46 and yes I do have Maya which I use for work. My son is using my PC in this Tutoral! Have a read of the description or some of the comments.
