If you're going to quote lyrics from another band, atleast give credit where credit is due. "God is dead and no one cares. If there is a hell, I'll see you there."
I love read retarded comments and interaction between these pathetic humans.. I don't like this music but I approve the failure of your comments guys ! :)
@hecjr82 if god is to beleived, he is tyranical and the father of all death and corruption. Humanity has been pre-destined for damnation if our form has been made so imperfect and sinful. How was the first sin in the garden of eden achieved in complete sterility, in the heart of God? In that context, Satan offered knowledge and God as a tyranically jealous father damned humanity. How can we conceivably submit to a divine figure that bespeaks benevolence but propagates death and suffering?
God wasn't a jealous tyrannical father that damned humanity. Humanity chose to know evil, and that had its, let's say, disadvantages... God allowed humanity to choose, how is that tyrannical?
6.A being who knows every way in which an evil can come into existence, who is able to prevent that evil from coming into existence, and who wants to do so, would prevent the existence of that evil.
7.If there exists an omnipotent, omniscient, and perfectly good being, then no evil exists.
You still don't get it, huh? I shouldn't need to explain my previous comment...
It goes wrong at number 6...
God does not want evil, but he does not want to remove the freedom he gave to his creations either. If his creations did not have freedom, their existence would be pointless, just like puppets have no real 'existence' at all in the way we have.
That's why he let Satan go his own way, and let humanity choose.
@OpethToolMetallica If god is omniscient then he would have known from the very start that we would seek the knowledge he dangled in our faces, and in knowing this, if he existed he would be worse than a monster and a tyrant for creating thinking feeling creatures like we are, just to suffer and for most, to be tortured into eternity for our 'sins' which for the largest part are relative to our culture and times.
Your interpretation is one of the possibilities, but you are really looking for it. If you lived a good life, you won't go to hell. Going to hell is a natural consequence of turning away from god, it is not a punishment invented by god.
Also, as for the suffering we have to endure, Charles V said: "Suffering is good for the soul" which is actually true if you think about it a bit more. And here, soul doesn't necessarily refer to the spiritual soul, but it is in a much broader way.
@OpethToolMetallica If your god doesn't send people to Hell for punishment then why would he create a Hell in the first place? Your logic is like saying that garbage throws itself into the garbage can because it chose to be garbage.
@hecjr82 And we shall embrace God as our lord for his truethfull servants rape little children, his church takes money in his name and stops progress of mankind, because his book was writen by many men upholding violent principles, and so on... I love Satan, because it's he who punishes evil people who use religion for their advantage, to rape, to steal, to be more corrupt than anything!
@CrowMonster1986 to be fair Im not actually religious but take an interest in all idealogies, including that of this band. I am simply presenting an alternate idea.
Although for the record, the whole idea is silly anyhow. There is no evil, only point of view, and ignorance. Good music no matter what it is trying to put out. Masters of atonality and dissonance.
It wasn't clear, but by point of view I was hinting at morality being subjective. A persons morals will effect how they see things, their point of view. And their ignorance of the difference between the relative and the absolute, the subjective and the objective, makes them judge others from the the point of view of their own moral compass. Even on things we pretty much all agree on really, such as murder and rape. They are only "evil" because we say they are.
Best Black Metal band ever. In the sense that they are the truest, and closest to the sentiments which are supposed to be the crux of the genre. Much more so than all the theatrical, sophomoric nonsense out there in the "underground". Yelling about the devil to droning, inane music, with a sound quality that makes one think the band was playing in a submarine, and a diver outside recorded it with a talkboy, does not make one evil. Or "atmospheric. This is auditory evil. Right here.
AmericanApostate nails it. Not just a good black metal band, but a good band period. This is just quality stuff that you have to work at. It's not coming to you, you have to go to it.
@Diathyrron88 same goes with basically all bands with actual soul. i find it funny that only a tiny fraction of music listeners can actually read music as well. i havnt listened to this band enough to come across much meaning
I think most of the enjoyment of DSO involves reading the lyrics, investigating them, and looking into the intricacies of the music. That's what it's all about.
@Preator Extremely dense and deep thought provoking music with even more mysterious lyrics. Something constantly draws me back to listening time and time again... masters of the craft.
@Preator Agreed. This is really the only band with "extreme" views that makes me go "hmm" and not immediately write them off as posuers. Or people going out of their way to be as nihilistic/misanthropic/sociopathic sounding as possible to be extreme and controversial, these guys are legit. Sadly attempting to do any research into the concepts in their lyrics is at best a unfruitful slog through a morass of opinions and spin entwined with standard bible theology and occultism.
@Diathyrron88 Accurate observation. Though I don't see it as a surprise. These guys are about as deep into the obscure and cryptic as one can get. I've read a fair amount of occult books in my life, I've read the bible, I'm a history buff and I have given religion alot of personal thought in my time. And this bands lyrics are really difficult to decipher, of course theyre written in a very poetic and not explanatory manner, but still. Very heavy ideas. Amazing fucking music though

2.God is omnipotent, omniscient, and perfectly good.
3.A perfectly good being would want to prevent all evils.
