c'est vraiment très bien, et je trouve dommage que ces goûts musicaux rendent ses autres morceaux desagréables à entendre. c.f : symphonie espagnole ou concerto numéro 1 de saint-sens
I am so addicted to Maxim Vengerov's playing... once you go Maxim, you can never go back! I used to listen to Joshua Bell and now I can't even look at his CDs. :P
@SnickersBar95 well he starts with up bow staccato sliding down the finger board then it is just left hand pizz where you pluck the string with your left hand using the finger that you used to play the last note. there is also some bowed notes like in round of the goblins and in paganini caprice 24 i think..
Actually the Wieniawskian "signature" staccato written in the orginal score is too crazy for anyone beside wieniawski himself to play so Maxim simply "cheat" it with pizz.
I dont understand why people always flame about violinists hopping around or interesting facial expressions. Who cares??! Music is art, which means that it is meant to elicit emotion. he is playing winiawski dude, and probably played with the most famous conductors of our time... I guess he knows more about music than you could dream of!
I agree, his movements do seem a bit much, but the music is beautiful. I myself don't know how he is able to move so much and so heavily and still maintain such great tone...
This is an effect piece, much like any piece calculated to make women swoon with the intensity of passion. It's to show technical mastery, virtuostic prowess, and romantic elan. It is what it is. If you wanted Brahms, why come here and bitch ?

You said, "Where there's less technique, theres more music". I'm calling you foolish for bothering to post that here: The Wieniawski is a showpiece. It is MEANT to be a display. If you wanted something else, just DO IT AND STOP complaining here. By the way, your performances lack romance, passion, and beauty. Slide into a few notes: sing like opera singer. If that's too risky, do some Sevick, Op.8, without thumb.
