  • Or you could use a match....

  • what if you can't FIND where the pilot light is supposed to be??

I have to light my furnace but I can't figure out exactly WHERE I'm suppose to be lighting it. I've worked with wall furnaces before but never a stationary unit and I can't find the pilot! UGH.

  • Did you locate and follow the pilot tube?

Are you sure the gas valve has one?

What type/model is it? Hot air/water Or brand name might help too. If you find the model number, try searching that online for the companies website.

  • I have another video, Anatomy of a pilot: how to light your pilot.

See if that video is more helpful.

  • Would have loved to see this in the light. I know its repetitive, but this would have saved me some time if I could only see.

  • Absolutly agree, and I apologize. Currently I'm in the process of rounding up the parts for a 'Display' version. Actually laid out on the table and describe exactly what to look for. So many models are different, and it's my intention to cover as many variations as possible. Did the description help at all?

  • did this guy pass gas??

  • The main valve was still off. That was just the pilot.

  • my got a spark glowplug ignitor just like the one you see in a gas bbq grill so it light it self

  • Yea, intermittent pilots don't need lit manually. And shouldn't be attempted.

  • Okay... I'll buy into that excuse even though I am a teacher and a bit suspicious..

    Ted

  • ok video was very dark wasent helpfull at all sorry

  • I tried my best to compensate for that in my description. When I get time I'll go rent a bazillion watt lamp and post a video reponse of me doing it in an ideal/typical application. Then, and only then would it be a first time for me too. Though I'm being sarcastic, lol. I didn't really foresee this video being as popular as it is. This is all rather new to me. My apologies.

  • Give me light! More light!

  • That's kinda why I did it this way. In my profession you find yourself time and time again fumbling around in the dark. But if the time comes, that any of my viewers need to perform these actions they will perhaps make that a priority before even starting. There's nothing worse, well maybe actually there is, setting yourself on fire..., than turning the knob the wrong way after u just stood there holding it for 2-3 minutes. Oh and leg cramps, that could be worse too. Watch that dudes vids^
