    No. You're supposed to exhale as you contract the exercise. What caused this man to blackout was a lack of oxygen to his brain, or too much bloodpressure. It happens during heavy lifts, especially at squats, where some people even burst a vessel in their brain.

  • @flyingpowerlogitech it's called vasoconstriction basically meaning the constriction of the arteriers and blood vessels. Essentially its a known rule that when you stand up your blood pressure drops significantly and will almost instantly adjust to the change in stimulus. Although, in this case he not only stood up but also added the extra benefit of constricting his blood vessels to a high extent that the body was unable to adjust fast enough and deprived his brain of O2 leading to collapse.
