I am suprised by the number of comments blaming somalis. Its the government responsibility for securing their borders. Yes, there is a kenyan-somalis, luo-kenyan, masai-kenyan etc.

The price of land is too high now in Nairobi and its environs, it's almost impossible to buy a plot unless you're a pirate or a corrupt government official. It's the result of money laundering. There's too much money floating around in Kenya from unexplained sources as reported by the Central Bank. Of course we know it's the pirates money. The pirates follow their money and their friends who're up to no good. To settle scores guns popping would not be unusual by the police and other criminals.
