Honestly, dont fight about the consoles. I've tried the games on both consoles and honestly, theres no difference. As for 3 discs on the 360, it's just a good way to get some kind of exercise besides going to the toilet every 3 hours.
I play JRPG's cause you can chill, but final fantasy 13 kept you on your ass. If I wanted to be kept on my ass i'd play COD with all the four year olds up there.

JRPG's truly HAVE become stagnant and repetitious, and i'm glad games like FF12 and FF13 took chances that try to breath new life into the genre.
I have both consoles. Ps3 for japan games with english translation. Xbox360 for shooting games.( most of the developer made shooting games for xbox lol). I love this ff-xiii. Great battle system, great boss battle, good story, and it's addictive bcoz of the linear gameplay. You will never get lost in mission

in my opinion, this is a great story. The battle system is far from simple, and I never felt like the game was holding my hand. Some of the bosses are also pretty hard. This game is not simple by any means! :P
holds your hand for about 25 hours and adter that there is about 55 hours of fun freedom and its well worth it, just play this and be a patient person.
If its a game where you dont feel like your making your own story and all this stuff you said, why rate it a 7? thats still a good review, sure the graphics are amazing, but amazing graphics won't make up for the fact that this game lacks what the original ff games gave to players...just sayin

Haters of JRPG. JRPG have their own aspects of "fun". So Fallout 3 and Mass Effect 2 has decisions and shit. Japanese Visual Novels(in my opinion) has better storyline and predetermined decisions than that Western RPG shit. JRPG is amazing due to the scripting they do on the game and the cutscenes and everything. It's truly amazing. Besides, JRPG made a boom in gaming business in the 20th century and Western RPG never made anything innovative so don't talk.
I thought the game was great and deserves a 9 the linear isn't that bad and i thought everything else was good, it had its flaw but they weren't major flaws that would drop the games score by alot.
No Final Fantasy has come near FF6 and FF7. FF6 to FF8 was a real peak for the series. Best stories, legendary characters and bad guys, memorable music.
Graphics and innovative battle systems are fun and good, but guess what? I can still go back and play any of those three titles to this day.

The story and graphics are the best part of FF13...But it is pretty satisfying to beat an enemy after switching back and fourth between all your paradigm's for 10+ minutes.
I believe in most people's opinions the most important thing in an RPG are the characters and story.Took me about 5 minutes to start enjoying this game, not hours like this video says. Also how can they compare Fallout 3(which I love) and ME2 to FFXIII? You do develop your own story in those two games unlike FFXIII. Which is how I would want it. Fallout3 and ME2 are good games, But I don't always want to play a game where I control the story. I want a game where the story controls me.
In my opinion this is the worst JRPG I've played in a long time. I don't believe it should even be considered a JRPG, as it leaves out most all elements which make a JRPG. As a game it also fails. The battle system(which is the main part of the game) takes way way way to long to open up.Square Enix has taken one of my favorite franchises and completly ruined it(WTF were they thinking when they desighned this game).
@delchavez it's about the towns, breaks in the story where you can choose to continue the story immediately or roam around, an airship to fly around a world map, and side quests. these things made the other titles at least feel like you were "exploring" ya know?

@ooodddiiinnn Ummm 12 kind of had a lot of freedom. Maps were really big making each area feel more realistic in scale to your main character. 10 was linear, almost as linear as 13 just had many more side quests and towns.

@irish2k10 I agree. There are way to many boss fights, sometimes the normal fights seem like boss fights, and the leveling sucks. It sucks because you are not allowed to level your charectors the way you want. No no, you have to wait until the story line allows you to level. Very upsetting indeed.
@Crackmandan the leveling system did somewhat suck balls but in some final fantasy games there was a thing with people getting to level 100 at the start of the game which kinda ruins it. there is by far too many bosses you are def right. it seems they put in all the boss battles to make the game longer. i actually still loved the game tho but it does not compare to other final fantasys lik final fantasy 8

Great have an JRPG hater do a "review" on a JRPG. This biased "reviewer" didn't give a review as much he did an overview followed by only negative observations with one inevitably good one: the graphics. This is a poor "review".
really, out of the first 5 reviews(this being the 5th) I checked, this one was the highest.
The scores were 5, 6, 6.5, and 6 all out of 10. While I did expect a score decrease for being linear, I didn't expect such a big decrease.
Personly, I really liked this game. The story was great, the characters were memorable, the combat made you think (if you don't want to take 10-15 minutes on every fight)
I still feel bugged that people think linear games all suck...well their opinion
This game was such a disappointment. Especially considering the same people made Kingdom Hearts such a great series; the exploration was great and the cutscenes definitely were worth watching.

If its a game where you dont feel like your making your own story and all this stuff you said, why rate it a 7? thats still a good review, sure the graphics are amazing, but amazing graphics won't make up for the fact that this game lacks what the original ff games gave to players...just sayin

Haters of JRPG. JRPG have their own aspects of "fun". So Fallout 3 and Mass Effect 2 has decisions and shit. Japanese Visual Novels(in my opinion) has better storyline and predetermined decisions than that Western RPG shit. JRPG is amazing due to the scripting they do on the game and the cutscenes and everything. It's truly amazing. Besides, JRPG made a boom in gaming business in the 20th century and Western RPG never made anything innovative so don't talk.

I thought the game was great and deserves a 9 the linear isn't that bad and i thought everything else was good, it had its flaw but they weren't major flaws that would drop the games score by alot.

No Final Fantasy has come near FF6 and FF7. FF6 to FF8 was a real peak for the series. Best stories, legendary characters and bad guys, memorable music.
Graphics and innovative battle systems are fun and good, but guess what? I can still go back and play any of those three titles to this day.

The story and graphics are the best part of FF13...But it is pretty satisfying to beat an enemy after switching back and fourth between all your paradigm's for 10+ minutes.

I believe in most people's opinions the most important thing in an RPG are the characters and story.Took me about 5 minutes to start enjoying this game, not hours like this video says. Also how can they compare Fallout 3(which I love) and ME2 to FFXIII? You do develop your own story in those two games unlike FFXIII. Which is how I would want it. Fallout3 and ME2 are good games, But I don't always want to play a game where I control the story. I want a game where the story controls me.

In my opinion this is the worst JRPG I've played in a long time. I don't believe it should even be considered a JRPG, as it leaves out most all elements which make a JRPG. As a game it also fails. The battle system(which is the main part of the game) takes way way way to long to open up.Square Enix has taken one of my favorite franchises and completly ruined it(WTF were they thinking when they desighned this game).

@delchavez it's about the towns, breaks in the story where you can choose to continue the story immediately or roam around, an airship to fly around a world map, and side quests. these things made the other titles at least feel like you were "exploring" ya know?

@ooodddiiinnn Ummm 12 kind of had a lot of freedom. Maps were really big making each area feel more realistic in scale to your main character. 10 was linear, almost as linear as 13 just had many more side quests and towns.

@9movierox that is merely your opinion. and to be honest, they really havent. because almost each final fantasy is an entire new story. what you are saying is just the same as saying an author has written to many books. if they were worried about making to many of the franchise, they would name them all differently. like 13 would be like "fal-cie" or sumthing. 7 would be something like "shinrah". you get the point.... hopefully

@irish2k10 I agree. There are way to many boss fights, sometimes the normal fights seem like boss fights, and the leveling sucks. It sucks because you are not allowed to level your charectors the way you want. No no, you have to wait until the story line allows you to level. Very upsetting indeed.

@Crackmandan the leveling system did somewhat suck balls but in some final fantasy games there was a thing with people getting to level 100 at the start of the game which kinda ruins it. there is by far too many bosses you are def right. it seems they put in all the boss battles to make the game longer. i actually still loved the game tho but it does not compare to other final fantasys lik final fantasy 8

That's more people own an Xbox, Lets not forget that its more affordable or cheap, and its an old system compared to the PS3. Also another reason why Xbox owners aren't missing out on this Final Fantasy game is because it will be the only FF that Xbox will ever see. Because FFXIIIVS will only be available exclusively for the PS3, Same goes for FFXIV or so I read, So enjoy wile it last:)

@NewbtasticGaming Well before posting this comment, I checked the sales for FFXIII for the month of May and according to the numbers, PS3 version outsold the xbox. The people have spoken, and definitely was proven that FFXIII it belongs to the PS community. Also researched FFXIIIVS will be exclusive to the PS3.

really, out of the first 5 reviews(this being the 5th) I checked, this one was the highest.
The scores were 5, 6, 6.5, and 6 all out of 10. While I did expect a score decrease for being linear, I didn't expect such a big decrease.
Personly, I really liked this game. The story was great, the characters were memorable, the combat made you think (if you don't want to take 10-15 minutes on every fight)
I still feel bugged that people think linear games all suck...well their opinion
