  • Thanks so much! Very helpful

  • I am interested in a summer opportunity. I am a current 8th grade math teacher in Fontana California.

  • Check out Dave's ESL Cafe for summer camp info.

  • Where can I get info about teaching in Korea?

  • There are lots of resources on the web. What are you looking for? What's it's like or a job?

  • I love teaching...

can you help me land a teaching carreer in Korea.

I am insprired by your challenge.

    Thanks!

  • I should have considered it twenty years ago...

  • Good vid. I graduated from the Univ of Boise before working at my uncle's quarry, busting my ass for a share of the profits that turned out to be less than min wage long hours. I took any hogwon job I got at first, and it was all better than working in a quarry. I came here in 1999. Been at the same school in ilsan since 2004. Korea's a goldmine! No rent, free food at work, wow!

  • Taken by your hand, you will open their minds and touch their heart! Oh, the difference you'll make!

Dr. Seuss - Oh, the Places You'll Go! is one of my favorite books

    love your videos

  • call me

  • Korean kids study like hell. So much that other countries do not know what studying is. THAT is a true statement :).

  • I agree!

  • I love kids! Of course I have my own, but I have been volunteering at schools for the last 15 years and have 18 more left!

  • Awesome!

  • when thinking about teaching english overseas-for longer then just a summer or one school year-i think it is a fair question to ask yourself if that amount of $ is enough for u to live the type of life u want to live!

  • I have no problems with the money that I make here. It's enough for me!

  • more then fair enough;but, like u...my comment was for someone considering an overseas teaching job.

  • Very well posted Steve. I enjoy all of your over seas videos.

  • Thanks!

  • I have found I work best with high school students and adults. It's nice to be on an even social level with your students relatively.

Kindergarten was fun, but took too much energy.

When working for hogwans people should get it stated in their contracts what age groups they will work with. I did that after my second year in SK although I did teach some Kindergarten, but I was given the choice.

  • That is true. But I really have a great time playing games with my elementary kids.

  • I think I fall into the category of being "okay" with kids but not having any kind of real drive to work with them.

That most likely would've added up to disaster had I actually followed through and gone into teaching.

  • I never thought I'd be any good at it... but I found out that I love working with children!

  • While that would be nice, I like doing it as a public service announcement.

  • I have a question...I know so many people that have gone over there to teach which makes me wonder because I am ignorant is there any domestic teachers there?

  • Yes. Foreigners are brought in to teach English (language) as well as other subjects. However, most instruction at school is in Korea by Korean nationals. At my school, I co-teach with Koreans each day. English instruction is very important here, which is why so many school have come into existence to teach it.

  • great video.

and quite the abundance of info in the description. wowzers!

  • ;-)

  • Very well put, Steve!

  • Thanks!

  • My first experience teaching abroad was with adults because I had taught adults in the states (and I didn't think that I would enjoy teaching children). Then a friend of mine asked me to cover some class for him at the primary school level and I did it. After that experience I picked up a part-time job teaching children in Primary School. It was awesome and so much fun!

    Great Vid bro!

    Peace.

  • It is a great deal of fun teaching kids. I love it.

  • BRILLIANT video man! very well put.

    Featured on my channel!

  • Thanks Kevin!
