  • A bit slower than expected, but cool.. I guess. lol.

  • That sounds like the 2.2L Inline 4. Is that the standard engine in the GTZ??

  • @14575019 Nope. The GTZ only came with the Oldsmobile-designed 2.3L DOHC High-Output Quad-4. It's loud as hell, but it's also the fastest four-banger of its time, outside of Porsche's boxer engines :D

  • quad 4?

  • great top end speed but 0-60 needs work

  • @jsheeran13 lol what??? i didnt mean you could literally use parts off one and put it on the other hahaha many ppl wonder why the 4 cyl is faster than the v6 and i was just saying that gm made a v6 similar to th 3.1 with heads similar to the quad 4... called the 3.4 twin dual cam... its doch like the quad 4 but v6 block similar to the 3.1... they put them in z34's and gtps... like if the quad 4 and the 3.1 had to many to drink one night and had a baby that baby would be the 3.4 dohc

  • Nice sound for Beretta. I had a 1994 z26 and loved that car.

  • for all the people wondering what you get when you mix 2.3 liter with 3.1 type in z34... just sayin i see alot of debate about 3.1 vs 2.3... and 3.4 is like a combo of the two... block of 3.1 and head of 2.3

  • @92greenz34 Physically impossible. 2.3L = 4cyl "Quad 4" & 3.1L = 6cyl "60* V6"

  • @92greenz34 so how much thought did you put into that comment there? now granted i dont give half a shit about berettas mostly bc there slow, ugly, and pieces of shit.....but your saying a 3.4 has a block of a 3.1...you are aware that those are two different displacements...and would be two totally different cylinder bores and have nothing in common lmao

  • @rph159 wow they are 60 degree blocks which means they are the same block family, like how all small block fords are the same how all small block chevys are the same how all big block chevys are the same and how all 90 degree v6s are the same the point here is that the block they started with WAS a 2.8 or 3.1 based engine cylinder bore has noting to do with the origins of the block, you could literally bolt on a 3.4 head on a 3.1 your valves would not clear and it wouldnt run but it would bolton

  • @rph159 also, why are you looking at videos on berrettas if you dnt like them

  • I got A 92 beretta From South Dakota for sell 4071646

  • @coghen01 how much?? it a gtz? or gt? z26? base? i live in mn sd aint too far n i want 1

  • I love gtz's, now with this one shift a little faster and at 7k with a more agressive launch (3800-4000 since its a 90 with the 3.61 fdr) and should shave 8-10 seconds off of that 0-120 time.

  • Nice car ! I want one really bad butt I can't seem to find them in my area

  • i know that useully the bigger the more power too but that depends on the cam which is a very good camin the gtz quad put a cam like that in a 3.1 v6 and that would be preety cool

  • i had a gtz 90 bitch was fast n had over 250.000 miles n still got it on quad 4 im sure they was call a sport car back than n still are to me :) dont see a lot of them anymore god i wish i had that bad boy

  • 3.1 are quicker with there tourqe then the quad4 but the 3.1 cant beat it going fast bigger the engine the more tourqe

  • Quad 4 have quite a bit more hp than the 3.1`s. The fastest stock Berettas are all Quad 4`s, proven many times at the track and in magazines.

  • @Jaygeta1 The bigger the motor the more weight is also a reality.

  • it is THAT much faster-but in stock trim without tuning they cant meet their potential, decent porting, gasket matching, headers, high flowing exhaust, free flowing intake-these things can push as much HP as a 3.8 supercharged-80's-90's 350 v8's, 360 magnum v8's, & most of the diesels in stock trim up to 2000 -without internal upgrades or any kind of power adder (boost, race gas, or nitrous)-but 93 is necessary due to the higher compression.

    2.3 Quad 4=16 valves/4 cams

    2.2-8 valves/1 cam

  • I have a LO Quad 4 that is very slow. I wish mine was that fast. :)

  • hmm yes ,...

but is it worth spending premium gam on?

is it really THAT much faster than a 2.2?

  • The 2.3 Quad 4 HO is way faster than the 2.2 that was offered in Berettas too. The 2.3 has about double hp.

  • what about the 3.1?

  • The 2.3 is the fastest engine you can get in a Beretta. They were offered in the GTZ and Z26 models. 3.1`s are not as fast as 2.3`s stock but faster than 2.2`s

  • ive heard from somebody else on youtube

that 2.3's are unreliable and are a pain to work on

do you know how relable and how the 2.2,2.3 and 3.1 is to work on?

i know 2.8s are a pain for the water pump

because the water pump is underneath and you have to drop the engine in order to fix it...

that's why my mom stopped driving her 86 olds cutlass cruiser wagon

my dad didn't want to put any more time or money in it , so we bought a 93 legacy wagon...

so far so good, apart from eating oil :(

  • 2.3`s are not as bad as sometimes stated in certain comments. The worst probems the 2.3`s had was the original head gasket. Swap it for a improved Felpro gasket and the engine will be ok. Just warm the engine before racing. Quad 4 2.3`s don`t like to be pushed hard when cold.

  • thats it? thats fine

all i would do when it was cold is not warm it up in the morning and just go ,

you know what i mean , is it bad on the car or on gas?

because in the morning im in a hurry and don't have time to let sit for a few minutes to warm up , but then again i drive about half a mile down my drive way at 15 mph, that kid of warms it up ,

my subaru does warm up fast though....

  • The HO quad had a Cast iron block, and an Aluminum head. The two different metals expand at different rates. That leads to head gasket failure. The felrpo gaskets help but are not a cure all. Also the Cylinder heads themselves fail. The "955" "086" and "753" castings are prone to cracking. The 086 Has the best Flow and largest valves and ports, the 753 is less likely to crack but they still do (personal experience), and the 955 heads are just JUNK. Engine Should be called "High Maintenance"

  • Ya I had one years ago. This video feels so slow after driving my Prelude for the last 3 years. The GTZ engine wasn't all that hard to work on. The HO quad head gasket takes about a day. The hardest part is getting the timing parts back together and that bullshit auto tensioner for the chain!. Some retard thought putting the Water pump under the Exhaust manifold was a good idea. The Burn through alternators like they are free. Even the expensive upgraded ones.

  • leme guess it took you about 5min to get up to 100mile an hour hahaha Berettas are gay ass cars bro get a mans car

  • @trwgmlg then why are you watching it? I guess you're gay for watching it, then.

  • Well I will say this.

    It Aint your Sisters Beretta!

This is a Solid 90 Beretta GTZ.

Motor: 00 3400 attached to the Muncie 5 Getrag 5 Speed.

This video was week one after the transplant, So ya it needed tweaks.

  • dude thats a 2.3 quad 4

  • but edward your trans am is probably a rust bucket and looks like shit....and i hope your trans am would beat my car or you wouldnt be able to show your face....post some time slips and we'll see who would win...

    my 2002 jetta 1.8t

    0-60mph: 5.8

    1/4 mile: 13.89

    trap: 113mph

  • Instead of making this stupid useless movie, why not fix your alignment.?

  • pretty quick

  • ill walk all over you in the 1.8t, nice cavalier you got there tho...

  • I presume you`re talking about a VW. I raced a VW Golf 1.8T in my 92 GTZ. The Golf was slower.

  • probably a 2001 or older.. they were only rated at 150bhp and 150tq....i have a 2002 which is rated at 180bhp and 180 tq. i also have apr 91 ecu flash and CAI and forge DV....i have 220 bhp and 260tq....thats why im saying ill walk all over you in your cavalier

  • It was a 180 hp 1.8T. My Beretta GTZ has the W41 kit with chip and a header. Up to 100 km/h i was slightly faster, above I slowly pulled away. Stock GTI`s have top speed of 222 km/h, my GTZ does 241 meanwhile. I fully understand though that your 260 hp Golf will be faster than my Beretta.

  • And I'll walk all over you in my Trans Am, currbag, but then really, that would be like playing one-upmanship wouldn't it? The GTZ was a pretty quick car for it's time and price.

  • 3.4l DOHC v6?

    Barretta?

  • thats a mean sucker u got .....nice job with ur mods.

  • I took my driving test in one of these...haha

  • that quad 4 sounds so good when ur on them i have 2 90's with a quad 4 but pain in the ass with oil pump and trying to time them is a hole differnt story and oil issue i see there on ur dash u should try to check ur oil pressure swich they tend to be bad well if u need information look me up nice sound eaven thought u have bad oil preushure

  • LOL...i thought it sound ok...then i looked at the comment about the oil pressure....

  • nice engine

  • doooode is tat the turbo 3.4 liter? sounds mean!

  • Nope, that`s a 2.3 liter four cylinder engine, called the Quad 4.

  • not bad fellow gtz owner. makes me want to go out and blast mine down the road i might even take my camera along for the ride.

  • Dude the GTZ's are beasts. That's one nice ride man, I envy you.

  • Fast as heck!!

  • Sounds great! Almost has a supercharger whine to it.

  • Its the lifters thats making the whine sound the oil pumps bad look at the oil pressure (0).

  • id still ride da fuck outta dat whip

  • That due to it not being HOOKED up yet

    LMFAO!

  • @BERETTAGTZ :( thats all ive got to say is just :(

  • @BERETTAGTZ y the hell was you driving it if it had no oil pressure

  • @BERETTAGTZ wouldnt it have blown a rod? couldnt 0 oil pressure also indicate a failed sending unit?
