I think this version is gorgeous. It's not even that 'poppy' like everyone's making out. Drew has a really beautiful voice, it's so pure... I love it. :]
then why weren't they more clear about that on the website? We get it that a lot of celebs like to remix classic disney songs, but they should've advertised it as a remix of the song and not how he's singing it in the production.
And FYI the show is only going to be pulled off of broadway because next year it's going on tour.
That doesn't make any sense. What would them going on tour have to do with closing on Broadway? You don't have to close a show in order for it to go on tour.
For example: Mama Mia, The Phantom, Jersey Boys, and Wicked are currently on broadway and on tour right now.
I'm not trying to be mean, or call you a liar, but your last comment doesn't make sense to me:) Where did you hear that, anyway?
I feel bad for Sean Palmer now because he recieved no special treatment at all and he's in the original broadway cast of The Little Mermaid...and here is Drew Seeley having such a beautiful song remixed for him. (the original ballod is still better though, because there is more emotion, then Drew's pop version)
Me too, I LOVE the original version, and I feel this version ruined it. I'm going to go play the original "Her Voice" at full volume and forget I listened to this stupid remix version.
They REMIXED the song for him?!?!?! Jeez, what was wrong with the ballad version? And WHY do all the "Disney Channel Original Series popstar sensations" and their possible significant others get such special treatment?
well i hate this version but i don't think you can say that the shows you mentioned closed for those reasons.
Beauty and the beast closed because Disney was producing "the littler mermaid" and didn't think the two shows with the same audience could survive...and i personally think anneliese is the only disney star to do broadway justice.
but yes seeley is awful stunt casting and he ruins the song.
Fair enough; Beauty and the Beast was closed to make room for The Little Mermaid, but it was doing fine and could've gone on for longer with The Little Mermaid in a different theatre. I don't want to trash-talk Anneliese (she didn't do TOO bad in the video I saw), but she was a LITTLE too depressing as Belle. In all the clips I saw of her, she NEVER cracked a smile, whether she was dancing in Be Our Guest (an instant-happy song), with the Beast, or reading. But I agree with the sentiment.
That's a coincidence. I would be seriously shocked if that was found to be the cause of shows being shut down. 80% of Broadway closed because of our crappy economy.
I'm just saying, when the fans see someone like Clay Aiken or Drew Seeley onstage, they hate anyone who thinks of replacing them because of the new expectations. Same thing with all of Sutton Foster's shows; she is an incredible actress, but all of her fans are disappointed when she's sick or leaves the show. Her replacements become the final cast, for no better reason than because they weren't Sutton Foster.
omg is this how he sang it on broadway? O_O

He's not on broadway, thank GOD! This would never go over well in the play, and he'd become hated.

they didnt remix it FOR HIM. disney did to put on the NEXT Disney Mania CD

Still prefer the ballad version. And THIS is probably why they pulled the plug on the show.

Do you really think they'd pull the show because someone done a remix of a song...?
katie2601 2 years ago
Well, think about it:
Beauty and the Beast - Closes when Anneliese Van Der Pol is cast as Belle.
Hairspray - Closes after the movie version with Zac Effron is made and Haley Duff is cast in the Broadway show.
Legally Blonde - Closes after the reality show to find the new Elle Woods.
Spamalot - Closes after Clay Aiken is cast as Sir Robin.
And now, Little Mermaid - Closing after Drew Seeley is cast as Prince Eric and makes a crappy remix of the song.

Don't take this the wrong way, but this isn't how I was expecting Drew's rendition of the song to be like. :\
