lets be real about one thing. alot of the people whot get sent to afghanistan are not gonna make it home in one piece. the recruiters never go into the statistics of injury rate which is classified from the media. why do you think they need new reruits. i'm not being nasty but im trying to make people realize the shit that is happening and nobody sees anything in the papers

@Blairg100 there are certain medical conditions that stop you going (obviously). asthma is one of them but if it is just mild then it could be different. best way to find out is to go to your nearest recruiting office and they will answer any questions that you have.

@xcheesyindianx Yeah I've been but they aren't open until the 5th on January so I'll go then, but I was told by someone who did get in and had asthma that if I have to take 2 in the morning and 2 at night then he doubts I'll get in, it's worth a try though, thanks.

thats what i did when i was unfit i joged about 3miles to start of but even if u stop its ok just try and keep going. after tha if uu think u ready just go on good 2hour jogs

@plym0uth2 No, a handful of them make it through, there is only 32 PARA intakes this year, about 11 f them will make it through, at Harrogate you get more holidays and long weekends, it is important to use this extra time to benefit you physically then you should an OK chance. You do, do a lot of fitness, but is important to keep up front, no falling behind and put in max effort at all times, those who failed probably never did that.

plus you have a whole year there before phase 2. so your training and fitness will be top notch when you move on

depends on what your joining. for infantry there are no requirements but you have to pass the literacy and numeracy test at entry level 3. which is piss easy. i got entry level 2.

I have pretty good grades from my previous school, quite alot of GCSE Cs. Awaiting my Maths and English levels. Hopefully they will be good to :). Withdrawed my Position in College. Hope it was worth it to goto the AFC.

go bout 3 times week with rest day between, carry on wiv gym concentrating on upper body such as pull ups pressups situps, carry on wiv ya cadets cus itll keep ya switched on wen ya turn up at afc like i did....tahts about it apart from keep off the drugs and trouble n ull be fine mate

In harrogate now been for 6 months , lads dnt worry too much about diets and go for a run evry so often u dnt need to be super fit to get into afc, they start it gradually all the fitness, u dont need qualifications unless ur a tradesmen like reme or re...a few lads have Ds wen they require Cs but they help u in education in IT maths and ull take tests...no need to worry i was like u aswell lol

i just passed selection and am going to afc in september. selection is hard but aslong as you prepared well you will be fine...oh yeah and dont drink fizzy drinks for a few days before only drink water or else you might get a heart murmer :S. good luck mate :)

well everyone who wants to go into the army has to do the same selection. just do running and upperbody strength like heaves and pressups. talk to a recruiting office they will give you all you need to know about it. hope this helps
