YES! This was the version of Voltron I had when I was a kid!! It was my fave toy especially when you had all the guys. Kieth, Hunk, and the others. They fit right in their lions even in Voltron mode!!! It was the most kick ass toy I've ever had and I am kicking myself for giving it away to some kid!!!! Ah well I played the crap out of that Voltron so it wasn't even in mint condition, but it still rocked!!
I had this set and the die cast ones. They both had advantages. I remember the die cast Voltron was easily the heaviest toy I ever had. Ah to be a kid again...
As a kid I thought it would be a bright idea to attach a shoe lace to the yellow lion's foot and swing him around...I busted some kid's tooth out by accident in class. D'OH!
To all the Voltron HATERS out there, I still have all the 5 plastic lions and the accessories that go with him brand new in a box (never been played with), and all the good guy action figures unopened, so don't get mad cuz all you could afford was the die-cast ones. Everyone on e-bay has the die-cast ones, but try to find the plastic one in brand new condition and you'll find out that you can't.
I was one of those kids that couldn't have a $50 Matchbox Voltron Set. The Panosh place stuff was too fuckin' retarded! It sucked! I saw it for the first time at a friends house and thought it was the coolest toy. Well, 25 years later, I find a Voltron die cast at Toys r Us, only it was made by Trendmasters...it even had a Blazing Sword and other weapons! It was $35...and I was there to buy my daughter a birthday gift! The Trendmaster version discontinued but I've seen it on eBay.
there was a die-cast version? mad as, my mate had the plastic one and man did it suck lol, as you can see in this ad, the head doesnt even open properly, really crummy design

I didnt like this Voltron toy. I liked the metal ones more. It was more "realistic" to the cartoon. Voltron ruled tho.

Back in 1998, I came across a generic Voltron, called "Future Lion". It's exactly like the Panosh Place Voltron but with these problems:
The joints wouldn't keep still
The parts kept breaking off
The details were the wrong color
And the figures looked like all-red Ultramen (except one, which, I think, looked like Battle Kenya from Battle Fever J, but all red).
NOTHING beats the real Voltron.
GO REAL VOLTRON, USE YOUR BLAZING SWORD TO DESTROY THAT $30 KNOCKOFF--LOL!!!
