John loved yoko end of. She made him happy and he made her happy. He made mistakes and during his last interview he even stated that he deeply regreted his first marriage. Cynthia didn't deserve it neither did Julian. He's a good guy just misunderstood. Stop the hatred towards Yoko...PEACE
I am certain that John had left the Dakota early that day, as I remember speaking to a woman at the Cafe La Fortuna (W 71st street), who had seen him in there having breakfast on 8th December 1980. He went there often, early, for breakfast, or just coffee and a Gitanes cigarette.
The day Lennon got shot was the day the generation got defeated ( and everything JL represented or was imposed upon as a symbol). Everything has been downhill since then.....
The point is... it is so shocking to think that, in fact, by this time his assassin was actually at the gates of Dakota, already saw him -leave for the studio and get back for the interview-, and when he left this interview minutes later he would give him his autograph. And then, afterwards, when he came back, we all know. So, the bastard was already downstairs, chasing the guy, waiting to kill him. It really gives me nauseas, makes me almost vomit literally. What a motherfucker.
@NeilFraudstrong Oh, okay... I had this idea according to the MDC´s interview with Larry King.. (didnt he say he first saw him pass, when he was with that fan -first time just saw him pass, second time he asked him for the autograph-).. Anyway, so that morning JL did the photos for Annie Leibowitz, and just stayed home... And so the RCO people and Yoko were waiting for him but he was where? Just upstairs?
Yeah. Contrary to popular belief, John and May kept in touch with Yoko frequently and Yoko called and John went to go meet with her. May was really worried, but basically she said when he came back he was in a trance like state and said something like, "I have to be with Yoko now. She says I can still see you as my mistress." and he later claimed that she had a cure for his smoking habit. They left the day before they were to go to New Orleans to see Paul.
First and formost i personally want to thank RKO radio for doing the interview on this specific day which of course is an eery and haunting thing to say the least , but whatever it is, Thank God they did or we would never know what John Lennon was truly like or what was going on in his life at that point in time after not doing music for 5 yrs. This is the most amazing candid interview ive ever heard of John / i think it gave all his fans a great introspective look inside this great artist/ man
It's obvious that John really loved Yoko.. Who are we to say or judge a person by a their talent or looks ... People really should look at themselves before putting someone else down ...
@tjallo911 dude not either looks or talent- she cut off Julian, she ceased the monetary assets and exploited John's art for years to promote herself once he was dead she didn't have to as she did own the John Lennon memory. Now she achieved the JL status she wanted for herself.
I find it funny that she claims to the media that one reason her and John split in the 70s was because she hated being "Mrs. Lennon" and not being taken seriously as an artist. The thing I want to know is, what has changed? She's known as Yoko Ono, the wife of former Beatle John Lennon. Not, Yoko Ono the avant garde artist. So the thing which she allegedly hated so much is what she has been by choice for over 30 years. Hypocrisy alert.
I heard a interview with May Pang. She was able to pull him away from Yoko. During that time he released his best record. "Walls and Bridges" not in one of those songs on that record does he mention Yoko. That is the only record i know of that he doesn't sing about Yoko.
While the comment about Yoko is true for the most part, it has been suggested (and even mentioned by John himself) that he wrote Bless You for Yoko, but I don't know how reliable this is. John was happy with May and his public statements were often contradicted by his private statements so who knows.
whatevers said about yoko, they looked into each others eyes and found that very rare gift of true love, the type that the universe opens up to us,,never mind wether shes rubish at music or after his money, its obious they had true love ,so im thankfull that john had that, didant he deserve that ?
He says he found his true self and true love. It can't get better than that in a relationship, but in the name of peace and love the two of them promoted, he, with Yoko's help, dumped and literally left behind his first son and first wife. No child support. Nothing. Did they deserve THAT? Did Cynthia Lennon deserve finding John and Yoko in her bedroom smoking pot as the first message to her that she was being replaced? Great love story, alright. And sad ending.
@stuthebru At the expense of Cynthia an Julian? few people on this earth actually "deserve" anything, save IMO, those who serve/sacrifice for their country.
In the photo, Yoko is seen with her massive filing system for all of her money. She didn't believe in banks, so she set up a system in their bedroom using cardboard boxes. this way she could file all of the 100 dollar bills in numeric order by serial numbers.
I love how Yoko gives the half laugh like "You son of a bitch" after John cuts her off at the very very beginning when he jumps to answer the question, "IT WAS IMMEDIATE!" Yoko: "... heh heh..."
@NeilFraudstrong Not to criticyze... But Yoko definetely changes her temper completely from when she´s alone to when John arrives. Some dirty mouths say that, by this time, JOhn was seriously thinking of dumping her. I dont think so, I dont know. He seems pretty much in love. Just commenting, hope it doesnt sound horrible
Don't know what Lennon saw in her, but I wished she would just shut up. She's not an artist and she's not a musician. She was nothing but a total scammer and took advantage of a druggie and wound up filthy rich for doing nothing. How John thought she was a legitimate artist is unbelievable.
She went after all the Beatles and was turned down until she caught John. Tony Bramwell said she's nothing but an opportunist and gold digger.
I think she gave John a license to rebel. He felt that his Beatles' fame compromised his independence and believed that Yoko understood him on a level that went beyond his status as a pop idol. Yoko was actually a classically trained pianist and a distinguished abstract artist. Although her skills as a musician/song writer did not approach those of Lennon or McCartney, her artistic influence on Lennon inspired some great work.
@rosterfoster Her FATHER was a classically trained pianist. Yoko merely took lessons and dropped names. She was a hack "abstract" artist during a time when art could be just about anything, including 'baggism', empty frames and all her other shit. Even within that arena , however, she was only known by a close circle of friends and fellow artists, no different from the hundreds of art cliques down in Soho NY. If John had completed university, he'd have been much less impressed with Yoko
@ritter89 I think John would have been impressed with Yoko regardless of whether he finished college or not. I think what drew him to her was not his naive lack of intellectual sophistication but the opportunity to fill the void created by the death of his mother. I also don't think the kind of knowledge dispensed in a traditional academic setting was capable of fully influencing his world view. He was too much of a rebel and free spirit to take school seriously.
@rosterfoster Dunno about that. I think the good stuff John recorded when he was with her was basically the dying embers of his exceptional self trained talent and the skills he had learnt with Paul and the Beatles. This largely ended after the Imagine album (1971). While I love the man dearly Im fairly indifferent to a lot of his stuff in the 70's apart form the occasional track. So after rigorous analysis i cannot see how she benefited John artistically in any way.
Tony's book. According to Tony, she went for Paul first and got nowhere. Then the others. John was the last one she went for. Tony really liked John but said he was so drugged out in the later years he was nowhere near the same guy as the early days and quite gullible. Paul says if you want to know anything about the Beatles, ask Tony. He remembers more than Paul does. Another great book is Geoff Emerick's. He didn't know them as personally as Tony but a lot of his stories corroborate Tony's.
it is unbelievable that he fell for this moron bitch. She reminds me of me when i was 13 and I thought i was so deep. love how if Dick Gregory is not offended , then its ok . total liberal elitism .
@ssiknick83 I am not the biggest Yoko fan myself but to say she is a horrible artist and then calling it FACT when it is based on your opinion is wrong. Yoko has received the prestigious International Association of Art Critics USA Award as well as other awards. I'm not saying I get it, most people don't but, she is recognized in the art world. Yoko's "cure" obviously didn't work because John smoked until the day he died.
