Well olympic gold is always an olympic gold, but this gold is from time that NHL play offs weren't interrupted for the games so teams like Canada, Russia etc. never got their best players there so...

This is from 2006 and the NHL did let their players come to the Olympics, this is the only reason why the Olympics is so much more prestigious then the World championship. Just look at the Finnish and Swedish players in this video almost all of them played for NHL teams at the time.

For example Teemu Selänne was in Finnish olympic team and he played for the Ducks and they played the conference finals in the NHL in 2006.
