@phantomsuccour That is right; if the 4 of 6 majority catholic counties vote for repartition, or all of the citizens in NI vote for an independent State that would possibly end the conflict. If instead they follow the good-friday agreement, you are going to end up in a united ireland, since it is sort of like two parents agreeing to divorce when their children grow up, it is an admission of the rising catholic population in NI, it will end with a UI. The conflict will always be Britain's fault.

You may not know this, but during that time, there were wars of conquer going on all over Europe. @mufc201o This is the difficulty of the whole situation, because militarily, Ulstermen have made courageous sacrifices for Britain (Ulster Regiment in WW1 for example and now serving with our boys in Afghanistan). You cannot argue for one second that the paramilitaries are keeping drugs out of N.Ireland, as they pretty much brought the trade there- the UDA is riddled with drug factions. Not a wikipedia goon im afraid, doing a degree with the Troubles as my study area, so i know a little bit ;)
