Excellent interview, thank you for posting this. I've gotten really hooked on Kaurismaki movies lately. I'm popping one a day, sometimes two if there's time. They're utterly engrossing, funny and heartbreaking. The ideas in the last five or so minutes of "The Match Factory Girl" alone would have been enough to fuel two or three Hollywood movies, but they would have begun just where Kaurismaki ended. We've all seen enough movies like that, there was no point in going further.

I have been seeing this video interview (in english with french subtitules) and I don't understand when people speak in english and I don't know any French. Ja Ja Ja. But I like Aki Kaurismaki, may be he makes always the same film but this is what I need. I am also and optimistic pessimistic. I downloaded 2 months ago "Nubes pasajeras" but I haven't seen it yet. He is going to represent Finland in the oscars, isn't he? About french cinema I don't know very much but I think E. Rohmer is a "must"
