If the person is mentally able to carry a gun and operate one as such, then yes, they can have a gun. those that are mentally unstable shouldnt. Background checks should be enforced for those buying a gun to check for illnesses, criminal activity, etc. Maybe that'll lessen the problem with guns, but hey, just my opinion

@sakkarinahp I think you may have confused the statistic. What I found indicates you may be quoting the total homicides (gun and non-gun related). In addition, when you look at the source, Wikipedia misquoted it. It actually places firearm homicides at 2.97/100k in the US and 0.12/100k in the UK for 1999. However, it also shows 3.37/100k for the US and 0.09/100k in the UK for 1998. So the US rate went down while the UK rate went up. Anyway, the stats are over 10 years old.

All I can say about guns is thank god I live in the UK. It seems just insane that you could buy somthing thats sole perpous is to kill another person over the counter at a shop! idk, I guess that americans are used to it but I was shoked to see guns for sale in a shopping centre next to kids toys in canada, and apparently their a lot more strict on gun laws! If guns are illegal next to no one has guns so no one needs them to defend themselves! And you dont need a minigun to defend yourself!

Maybe I'm biased because I'm Canadian and it's hard to own a gun up here legally, but I really think the USA should crack down a little more on gun policies.
And as for the women running that race, well it's their choice. It's not like they're locked in cages and forced to go there, they choose to do it. It is kind of weird, but to each his own. It's not really any different from women's beach volleyball, if you think about it.

@SirHolme I didnt say you could pull the trigger the same speed, i said you could do the same damage. Bolt action hunting rifles, which I will assume is what you're talking about, have clips just the same as semi-auto weapons like an AR-15. If you put enough distance between yourself and your targets, you can keep hitting people as long as you want. Firing a clip from a bolt action weapon into a crowd from range can be more deadly than the semi-auto a bit closer- better accuracy more powerful...
