It was just today I was in a lecture where it was discussed that women are judged by their appearance and not their brains. It was also said that this issue was brought up in Parliament. Well the burqa/hijab is a way that overcomes that problem that so many women in today's society face. Where they are judged by their outward appearance and not their intellect.

I think that it should be understood, that in the west we were brought up on TV shows where villains or bandits always covered their faces. Is it any wonder that we equate a covered face with criminal intent. Even today, rebels, or criminals of all types, cover their faces because they don't want to be recognized. It would be good to for women to wear hijabs and total face coverings. It is good for women to be more contemplative and hidden at times. Men need to be grave and tribal. Do this for awhile even if you're not Muslim. It will add depth to your lives. I was in France for awhile and found it to be a gutlessly mean society at large. I was thinking, in school the head bandannas that a lot of African American women wanted to wear were banned. A lot say that this has nothing to do with this fact about Muslims and their veils but it does. These veils are customs, just like the fashion trend of wearing a bandanna is a custom for African American women. So I just don't get it. I am very two sided on this argument. Besides that: Covering up faces in public, should not be allowed because of safety reasons. If I walk into a gas station with a helmet on my head, I'm a suspect immediately. The Koran does not state that a woman must cover her head, only her bossom, so why do so many follow this lowly law created by man, not God? Secondly, your initial statement is extremely subjective and superficial. Many would argue that one's identity is constituted by their ACTIONS and MIND which defines us as humans. We are more than animals in that we need not be identified physically to represent ourselves.

I was thinking, in school the head bandannas that a lot of African American women wanted to wear were banned. A lot say that this has nothing to do with this fact about Muslims and their veils but it does.
