Well, its a damn shame Jerryd left for the NBA after only one season at Arizona. But lookin'back now...he was ready coming out of high school last year. At least we got 1 good year out of him. Didn't do jack sh-t for Arizona, however.

Budinger should come back after evaluating his draft status at the Pre draft camp in Orlando. GM's will tell him he needs to develop a consistent scoring mentality and GET TOUGHER! Arizona will be loaded the next few years. Just hope they don't keep jumpin' ship.

With Crawford & Bradley gone, Gillespie wants & needs a pure outside shooting threat. Right now we don't have a guy who can consistently shoot from the perimeter. Is Jones that guy? I don't know. But Meeks is inconsistent, & Jasper isn't a pure shooter. Liggins seems to have a nice stroke with range, but he'll probably be relied on more for his passing than shooting skills. Same with Galloway. So who knows. Maybe coach is hoping for that pure shooter from the '09 class (Wall or Hood)....

I agree with you, Jones needs to go to Minn. I really want him to go to Minn. There is no way UK can still be seriously after Jones anymore. We have Meeks and Jasper, 5 star Liggins and 4 star Galloway both 6'6 guards coming in next season, 3star (after this summer most likely a 4 star)gaurd GJ Viliarno coming in 09, and KC Ross-Miller who all the experts say after this summer AAU is over will be a 5 star guard.

I disagree, kycats06. I'm not impressed with the players that Tubby brought to UK. Jasper & Meeks are NOT guys I would rather have on the court over Verdell Jones. And from what I've read and heard about Galloway, he's not a scorer & shooter, which Jones apparently is & can be.

With UK's 2 best perimeter shooters gone (Crawford & Bradley), the Cats NEED a consitent, outside 3-point threat. So I'll gladly take him. As we're finding out with Hopson going to UT, UK needs players like Jones.

Honestly, I don't know. Liggins, no...I believe he's the real deal. But it's really hard to tell about Jones from just a few videos. I've seen his rating fluctuate between 3 and 4 stars, depending on the scouting service...but these scouts miss on kids all the time. His jumper looks fluid, though, with good form and a nice touch, & he can shoot off the dribble. What I'm looking for is a pure shooter, & he reminds me of Fitch, and we both know Gerald had a nice, consistent & reliable stroke.

Thanks 4 the heads up. Good interview. The future of UK's PGs looks good w/Vilarino and Ross-Miller. I hated to miss out on Jones because of his outside shooting but hopefully Hood signs for '09 and gives them that element. Euton, Ferguson and Ross-Miller for '10, possibly Evan Anderson as well. That would make four 5-star, top 20 overall players for the '10 class, w/a couple of schollies for '10 still available. Harrellson signing was nice as well. The future of UK hoops is looking bright!

Actually, I hope you're not referring to Maze. WAY too many red flags with him. And personally, if Jasper transfers...I'd rather see that schollie saved for the '09 class. As of now, Vilarino is taking Carter's spot ofr '09, and since Carter is the ony senior on the roster, we'll need more schollies available to be able to even entertain signing Hood, or Favor, or Orton, or Trent, etc. So I'm actually hoping at this point that recruting for '08 in done, even if Jasper transfers...

We have Galloway who played who was the PG on the best JUCO team last season that avg over 100 points per game. We also have Liggins who played who started at PG for the best prep school last year.

IMO, Jones would be best served to go to either Minn, who still needs players or IU who is falling quickly. They just lost another player who is going to transfer.

Jones isn't good enough to play for the future of UK basketball. We are rising quick and getting top players now

I always had high respect for IU Fans bc they always had a knowledge for basketball. Your the only IU fan I know that thinks Jones is a great player and a huge pickup. You will never win championships with a player like Jones starting. He isn't an elite player like Dominique Ferguson. In high school its all about the points. Once a player makes it to the next level and is surrounded by other players with as much talent as they have, then you'll see passing and defense.
