  • Amazing...Whats the picking pattern?

  • @xXTHExSiMPLExLiFEXx

    Hi:

I guess the closest pattern is a variation of Travis Picking with the thumb doing most of the bass work. As for the fingers, there are many times that I sort of pluck the three critical triad strings of a particular chord simultaneously as I try to isolate the melody at the same time (usually) with the first and second fingers. There is frequently a "flick" across the strings with the flat of the fingernails on the back of the hand to establish emphasis or rhythm.

  • @FCGlynn thanks sooo much!

  • Awesome piece of music. I really appreciate it if you could shoot me some tabs for this.

    THANKS

  • Hi:

This is really just a pretty simple D chord sequence: D,D,C,F,F,G,D. What makes it unusual is the open-D tuning and the inclusion of the low E string (tuned down to D) when you are playing the full C chord to F. This is a little bit dissonant but gives the song a more dreamy feel (if you don't hit that low E string too hard). I also make heavy use of alternate chord voicings up and down the neck and palm muting for the repetitive sound of the tires on the highway. Is that any help?
