They should have deployed the planes reserve wings (standard on all Cessna Cherokees, optional on Pipers). Were they beaten with a stupid stick...I mean seriously?
Obviously a Piper product. And to "drop the wings", implying that you can jettison them? Idiocy. The press are complete morons when it comes to reporting on aircraft crash, no matter is you're in Austrailia or Canada or the USA.
"Dropped his wings voluntarily?" Where the hell did they come up with that? Sounds like a bystander's joke gone wrong (or right, if he was trying to fool them!)
he DID actually realize that the wings are fuel tanks! thats about all he got right.
there is a low wing cessna single engine that everyone seems to neglect.. the 400. i've only ever seen one at an airshow tho, and its definately a piper in the video.
the chick also needs to learn how to say "parked cars" lol.
No one is neglecting the Cessna Corvalis 400. it's just that it was not originally made by Cessna, they just bought the Columbia company. So that plane was more popularly known as the Columbia 400.
I can't believe they came up with such a ridiculous story. I'm heading straight to the airport to look for the "wing drop" button on my high wing piper...wait - or is it a low wing Cessna?
sheesh... why does the news always screw up simple aircraft designations?? piper... cessna... low wing,... high wing.. when in comes to news people, they cant EVER get it right.
stupid guy telling the story drop the wings ???????

LMFAO. Dropped the wings voluntarily. Glad I never pressed that secret button by mistake.
As for Cessna/Piper you all have better eyesight than me. I can just see a little white blur with a blue tail.

Well I guess it goes to show that the media anywhere in the world will report whatever they want regardless of the facts.
I wonder how much of the details were even correct?
Does Cessna know that their planes look just like Pipers after a crash landing?
