it doesn't add up, in the end of the Incredible Hulk, you see Tony Stark talk to General Ross and Stark says he's they put a team together (Avengers) to "solve" Ross's unusual problem, that's the plot i think. Stark is talking like he's already on the team, in Iron Man 2 Stark just bearly made it on the team. shouldn't Fury had that conversation with Ross?
I found it interesting that you guys enjoy the movie because I was totally bored with it as were my couple of friends who I saw it with. None of the story points for me made satisfying and, in some cases flat out didn't, resolutions to them. I wasn't entertained in the least even by average standards of a movie going experience. Did we watch two different movies?
I hate that they totally dropped the ten rings thing from the first film. Also, I think Whiplash didn't seem like a world-dominating threat of a villain, his whole thing was that he just wanted to kill Tony Stark. Parts of the movie's narrative just felt strange and as if there were many deleted scenes.
i dont really think that it is relevant to compare Iron Man to the Dark Knight bc they are two completely different kinds of movies. Where Iron Man is lighthearted and borderline camp at times, the dark knight is grim and realistic. Both movies do have one thing in common, the fact that they where both intelligent, well done films.
Did anyone else notice that they didn't name the element that Tony Stark invented in the movie? I suspect that the original script had him inventing vibranium, but because this would mess with future Marvel story lines (Black Panther) they had to back track and skim over this plot point.
Over all I liked this movie better than the 1st one. I think it just suffered from the 'hyped sequel blues'.
No you aren't, even for it's 'grim, gritty and realistic tone', TDK is only a 7.5 for me, maybe an 8 when I don't think about them killing off Aaron Eckhart so stupidly.
I think there would have been more playfull banter with Terrence still in the movie. In the first movie you can really tell that he was Tony's friend. Don I think played a great "poster boy" for the Military. He made it appear that they were acquaintances rather then friends.
I liked the movie, but I enjoyed the first one more. Seeing Tony drunk in the suit was like seeing Peter Parker "strut" to corny music down the sidewalk though, hehe.
I disagree on the point about Tony needing a villain that has better technology, for the reason that I think he needs a villain that doesn't use technology. But instead something that Tony needs to counter-act with new technology, which is why Mandarin should be the next villain.
I was definitely thinking this was a Ultimate Avengers movie.
The first image that popped into my head when Avi mentioned that scene from Reservoir Dogs was that scene in New Avengers when they are sitting around eating chinese food.
I thought i was the only one that wanted Terrence Howard to come back. Also i noticed that ironman needs a special machine to dismantle his suit when he takes it on or off.Now how the fuck did rhodey get that suit off in the military base? Also I'm not sure but tony meant for rhodey to pilot a suit sometime down the line.Great review guys !
Avi,
If it wasn't for young men unable to mentally recover from their fathers murder, there would be no Batman.
And even in the real world, no matter the millions, you don't just get over it.

Batman isn't smarter than The Joker.
They're basically even witted, if not The Joker having a slight hand up.

the scale of IM2 wasn't as big as it seemed it should have been.
i dont expect a brain bending plot/script from Iron Man but the story was kind of been there done that.

I miss Terrance Howard too, Don Cheadle just doesn't do it for me for some reason.

it's gonna be hard for any comic book movie in the next 10 years to be good as TDK.
