  • We got till june 6th now, i believe that is the date.

That is when analog TV will stop working.

Also to wiiguy, a flat screen most likely will work, as it is new enough to have a digital tuner in it.

  • Yes, we have until June 12, 2009 now. I have made an update, but not uploaded yet. As for wiiguy, never did get info from him, but if he is asking if the flat screen will work with DTV, you are right about the tuner, it will work. Watch for a special announcement on March 27, 2009!

  • thank God< I have new HDTV 1080p are clear picture than 720p. but Not worry but I have time cable are HD but would in Fed 2009 will change auto all full HD.. but I was save my time..

  • Thanks for watching my video! My TVs in house are all old style, but I don't worry because I have comcast cable in my house. I don't need get boxes for them. I have one tv not have cable.. it has antenna in my garage office, and I got converter box for it. It works good, and CC works good too, can change colors, etc. Fun to play with it. Now I get 17 channels with it, hope will be more channels on Feb 17.

  • Thanks! your info was very helpful!

  • I am always happy to hear about it helping people. Soon there will be another announcement, so watch my page. Thanks! Mary

  • THank you for your information. I appreciated your time and explain to us. Yesterday, my friends and I were talking about it and trying to understand what s plan with digital and analog TV for Feb 2009. Your vlog really is helpful. I will send this link to my friends. :o)

  • Thanks! I am glad it helps you! If you have any questions you can email to me. Mary

  • i only got a flat screen tv. will that work?

  • I'm not sure.. I would need more information. Please email me, and maybe I will be able to find out for you.

  • at first i turned my speakers up cuz i couldnt hear nothing then ir ealized it was for the deaf ..heh

  • LOL.. that's funny! If you want a script of what was said, let me know.

  • There is two formats of Closed Caption. The normal Closed Caption is designed to use with analog channels.

The digital Closed Caption is designed to use with digital channels.

So maybe you could try digital Closed Caption on big TVs.

If you look at words closely, you'll noticed the looks of analog and digital Closed Captions are little bit different.

  • That's very interesting.. thanks for the info!

  • I would like to watch on my laptop too, but very few are captioned, if it is web-based! Go to the ID oicmary to see a video about a petition to the FCC to have more web and downloadable content captioned.

  • Cable might just stay analog for a while. Some cable companies have started to reclaim analog channels to digital since it frees up their infrastructure. 1 analog channel can house up to 12 Standard Def or 2 to 3 HD channels. Also new TV's now have this digital Antenna converter built in. If it's pretty new and HDTV's have it as well. Some TV's have a clear QAM tuner which can get some digital cable channels. Hope this helps from someone who tried to learn ASL.

  • yes, that's very true, that's why people who already have cable don't have to change to new tv or get box, because the cable and satellite companies still keep their analog signals.

  • Great vlog. Very clear info. I got a big TV from my brother and the closed caption does not work on it. There is no CC box to buy but the convertor box have CC in it. Can I get it to work on my TV with DirecTV? Thanks!

  • My big tv's closed caption does not function. Will the convertor box which have CC in it work? I know they do not sell CC box anymore but the convertor box have CC in it and I hope I can hook it up to my TV to make the caption work. Is it possible? I have DirecTV. Thanks for the information. ((fingers wigglin in air))

  • Where is ASL Services located?

  • ASL Services is in Michigan. Thanks!

  • Thank you for that. I got very clear understand. We are very lucky we have Dish Network and Cox. :) I must tell of my friends. Thank you

  • Glad to hear you can help your friends too. I'm glad you understood it very clearly! Mary

  • Well, it's not required for us to have HDTV. Any TV with digital would be fine. HDTV is more expensive than just a DTV.

  • Yes, true, they are expensive. Good thing that any TV will work with cable or satellite after Feb.2009. Old TVs that are not HDTV or DTV don't need the special box for cable or satellite. They will be fine. Thanks!

  • PAH!! Someone explain it very clearand make sense. Hopefully others will see your vlog. Great JOB!!!

  • Thanks.. we will do more in future!

  • Pah, you make all this sense. I was uncertain and confused.

Thank you for clear all that up.

  • Thanks! I am really glad it helps you and others!

  • Finally, I glad someone like you bring it up about DTV cuz i were talk about FCC 700MHZ Spectrum Auction on youtube.

Give her a pat on her back!!

    Thanks!!

    Brian Morace

  • Thanks very much... Lot of my friends are very confused about it, and wonder about it! Mary
