I always consider live bait a step down in fishing...no night crawlers and minnows allowed in my boat!

Wow, I live near Lake Sinclair in Milledgeville Ga and our lake is well known as the king of crappie fishing.

We have our fair share of these as well but I have yet to be lucky enough to catch one this size!

I've been crappie fishing my whole life and one night while visiting family that lives on Hartwell we were sitting on the dock and decided to drop a light in the water and throw a few lines out....much to our suprise we landed a 2+ pound crappie! It was easily my biggest crappie ever....usually 1.5lb and less!

Believe it or not while fishing a man made lake I hooked a crappie around 3 & 1/2 to 3/4 lbs. What did my dumb ass do took it home & ate it without taking ONE stinking Photo or at least having it weighed by the DEC when I know now it would have absolutlely been a State record. if not a world record . :( always take pics of any fish you catch that remotely looks like it may come close to a record & have it officially weighed on a certified scale .

Yes live, You can order live bait online ... and keep them alive for weeks in a bait tank with an aerator. (one-two dozen per gallon)

Mann! I swear I caught a record the other day (03-21-08.. my 23rd B-day)! The sunnuvabitch.. I reeled 'em up to the edge of the dock (was fishing two poles, one with roadrunner, other with minnow) after setting my minnow pole just a foot off of the edge of that dock with a slip-cork on and before I could cast my jig out on the other pole, I heard the commotion behind me. Anyway! Reeled him up to the edge and he just looked at me (swear he was grinning) right before the line snapped at the hook!

Do you know what section of Lake Hartwell

that this catch was made in? Could of been

in an unaffected area where PCB's are not

affecting the fisheries. Just my opinion, but who said YOU have to eat it.

Yes, PCB and Mercury levels are studies that include the entire fish. We filet our fish removing most PCB issues and enjoy sharing them with others that fish and eat fish!
