  • just a lil weaker than a magnifying glass in the right hands (mine), but pretty cool though!

  • Yay I can spend the rest of my day burning holes in a plastic bag

  • i like the music!!!! how the song is called my friend????OWWW and nice video

  • So you direct drive the diode with 2 AAA cells, be careful not to use brand new cells.

1,6v x 2 will kill the diode quite quickly, it's is designed for about 2.3-2.5v.

Tell, does it still work fine?

  • tepig used ember!!! It's SUPER AFFECTIVE!!!!

  • the music is shit

  • i now a web site where they sell a module (100-200) for only 33 eur

  • It looks like a vibrator

  • omg thank you i got a 1mw laser from dick smith it was really cheap now i have like a 50mw laser lol

  • Is this the dealextreme 4mW laser? if so thats the same one i have

  • Comment removed

  • The laser wont last long!!

  • what's the music track people?

  • hey btw i have that EXACT LASER i dont know how to open it

  • What standard wire gauge did you use ? 25swg, 28swg what ??? Thanks.

  • On the notes of The Pavarotti Slayers?

Bloody hell this trash sounds like opera on speed.

  • Dude! give us some numbers, will ya? :)

Pre and post mod input currents for a change?

  • does it matter if its red?

  • Rhapsody of Fire?

  • mute

  • This will decrease the lifetime of the laser diode A LOT!

  • I actually replayed the vid bc I like l

    this song..

  • I heard you can just burn out and disable a component that regulates the power and it will boost it up to 50mw. Also isn't a diode only made to match the wattage comeing out of the regulator chip? Because once its turned up the diode will end up burning out. All laser diodes evenly burn out but with a higher wattage than it can handle will burn out very quickly.

  • dont do it,it will break your laser my friend did it and it went BAD

  • @MultiXboxgamerz Then your friend's soldering skills is bad... If I can do it and proven, it should be working...

  • @bulbasaurhamster yeah, but the laser's lifelength will be shortened like a piggy's tail... i mean you won't be able to use it for long ;)

  • @bulbasaurhamster It's not the soldering skills that are wrecking these laser, what you are doing is bypassing the potentiometer, any capacitors, rectifyer diodes, and some of the resistors. You are connecting the battery current directly to a resistor. This resistor does nothing for voltage spikes, battery current is not stable, it fluctuates. If the batteries are installed backwards for some reason your diode will fry too. Sources, I build laser circuits from scratch,

  • @MultiXboxgamerz hwat happernd?

  • how many mw , can suply , amplify?

  • You are bypassing the driver, I'm sure this will kill the diode soon...

  • @coccoborg Nah, it still works super bright... I uses it almost everyday or a few time a week for 1 year plus already :)

  • @coccoborg youre right

  • Is it possible to replace a broken diode?

  • @ccarazay You have to buy a diode from any DIY store and replace it. A soldering iron is needed then.

  • you know what, i love you, this is the best tutorial because we have the same laserpointer !! :D:D

  • @l4dhehe :)

  • First off, they're not "circuit chips". They're SMD resistors. Second of all, this is NOT better than a pot mod. All you did was bypass the pot altogether--almost exactly what it would be like if the pot was turned all the way to its lowest resistance. You're still going to fry the laser eventually

  • @derstrom8 I had tried both pod mod and the bypassing of resistors. The bypassing is much brighter. In this video, I only showed bypassing using 1 copper wire. There is also another copper wire that I can solder to bypass more resistors. Just that that will definately break the laser. Hence, I decide not to release them to public for the safety of the laser.

  • RHAPSODY!!!!!!!!

  • 0:04-013 Trying *click* to *click* Pause *click* at *click* the *click* right *click* time *click* GAAAAAAA

  • Ahhh mute button we meet again!

  • I might try this

  • what is the name of the song????

  • hi, i have two questions: what is the best, rechargeable or alkaline battery? and does it burn or pop balloons now? thanks and nice video!

  • How many mW will the laser be?

  • HEY THAT'S THE SAME MODEL THAT I HAVE! COOL NOW I'M SURE THAT IT'LL WORK!

  • Don\t like Rhapsody but this song is cool :)

Btw, how much did the module last after the modding?

  • i cannot open it plzzz helpppp or send me the vid that how will it open plzzz helppppppppp

  • any laser shop suggestions???

  • i couldn't watch the video because my head was thrashing so much.

  • I think there's a reason why the manufacturer put all those other components on the pcb between the switch and the diode.

That being said, this probably does decrease the life of the laser since you're putting more voltage into it that what the manufacturer originally wanted, but by how much? I do not know.

  • whats the songs name?

  • @zapachi1 Emerald Sword by Rhapsody

  • You're gonna burn those lasers out. You're pushing the diode way beyond it's limits that it was designed.

  • @FoolDoolMoolDool Mine still works pretty fine. I use them almost everyday

  • The module shown in the video is a very common 20mW 532nm module with a 300mW pump 808nm. Not only will this mod like pot modding reduce the life of the pump diode, but you are pushing the diode out of its targeted 808nm output. This results in a dimmer beam, and inefficiency in conversion which allows more IR to 'leak' as these also have no IR filter..

If you want to impress with this mod, lets see a LPM showing results..

Ive disassembled many of those modules and this is a waste of time..

  • isnt that gonna overheat?

  • Esmerald Sword!

  • Hey, plz anser this, when i try to take out my 5mw module, i cant get the button to come out and it wont pish down anny further. plz help!!!!

  • @DUDE3029356 What I will do is to push(Force) the button down... That's the best solution. The only thing is that the circuit board and the laser diode will bend a bit but can be bended back... I don't think there's other solution. If the laser is made in a way such that the button is unable to be take out, how is it possible for the manufacturer to assemble them... (Do at your own risk)

  • doe this work for a red laser?

  • @Thehoboestiffy Probably... BUT not those cheap red lasers

  • @bulbasaurhamster

    oh k thanks

  • simple question:

why is your mode better than pot mode?

Can I do your way and the pot mode?

    thanks

  • @marcoshl89

The reason is that my mod bypasses resistors, which means lots (Max) of power entering the laser diode.

The normal pod mod decreases a little resistance to allow addition current to enter the laser diode.

You cannot apply both mods... Applying the pod mod is... let's say a 50% work. My mod is like a 100% work... So the pod mod is a subset of my mod.

  • @bulbasaurhamster

    thks for the answer.

how about the durability? won´t this mode burn my laser in 2 days?

  • @marcoshl89 Why dont you buy a batterij with 2 V or higer normaly i use 1,5V and i dont modded

  • @hubzcaps I think you're then the idiot

  • @BloodSweatSmile Exactly.... who will even use them for 1000hrs... I think a normal human will use less than 1hr in total

  • @bulbasaurhamster why would you not use it for more than an hour ive used mine for hours on end

  • @jhrhrj1 Lols... Different people uses laser more than others... That's all I can think off to reply to you LOLS :P

  • I have that laser pen :D its awesome!

  • @dagger4000 Yeah this laser pointer is awsome... Till now it is still working perfectly... eventhough I always use them regularly...

  • @JDTV1995 ...you can get a green laser for 12 bucks on amazon...

  • what is the name of the song in this video?!

  • @dankdnb Emerald Sword by Rhapsody of Fire

  • Can I use red instead of Green

  • @JDTV1995 Red laser cannot be mod... Not even a cheap one XP

  • This really works. I didn't have a soldering gun, so I used a hot glue gun and it worked flawlessly. It may shorten the life, but for a $10 laser, it's worth the chance.

  • @TaffyAppleable Congratulations... My laser is still working pretty wel... Have not broke yet...

  • wer did u buy the laser can it work w/ the radio shack laser

  • @AJshow907 Any laser with this circuit board will work

  • @bulbasaurhamster SHWEET!but wer did u buy yours

  • now my laser is broken -.-

  • @cloudcally Because you heat up the circuit board too long... Try to remove the copper wire and see if it still work...

  • will this work on a red one

  • @MrDavidruffin NO! Red lasers are unable to mod it...

  • @JDTV1995 yes, all he is doing is adding a jumper to by-pass the resistors, this works with any electrical circuit... I would personally prefer adding a pot with the same impedance as the by-passed resistor so you can have the original brightness when you don't need to pop balloons or burn matches, your diode will last longer...

  • @TheAnarchist33 Yeah... just increase the brightness of the laser will be cool already... no need to burn stuff can already

  • never use wannabe speedmetal for soldering instructions.... Simply because it is "YEEAAAAAH!!!!!" distracting. Just my two cents.

  • I GET IT THE COPPER WHIRE LET THE ELECTRONS PASS THROUGH WITHOUT THE CURRENT BIENG SLOWD DOWN BY THE RESISTERS. MEANING MORE POWER TO THE LENS

  • @RedFalcra YES!!!

  • I GET IT THE COPPER WHIRE LET THE ELECTRONS PASS THROUGH WITHOUT THE CURRENT BIENG SLOWD DOWN BY THE RESISTERS. MEANING MORE POWER TO THE LENS

  • that is a awesome song what group is that?

  • @tracemaster100 Emerald Sword by Rhapsody on Fire

  • @xBeyondInsane It's too risky

  • i burned my eye out I WILL SUE YOU!!

just kidding but my laser isnt working :(

  • @HomeMediaProductions Lols... If it isn't working that means you had short circult the laser. Then try to undo the mod and your laser should be back to normal.

  • y dont you pot mod it?

  • @koppokpok Because, this is better than the pod mod. This gives MAX power

  • why is it so difficult to twist the top of the laser cap off?

  • @Albear20 Because manufacturer doesn't want people to tamper with their circuit and claim warrenty when it spoils.

  • Dealextreme has different circuit boards, do you know where should I solder the iron there?

  • @FPSBass Just connect one end of the wire to the spring, and then use the other end of the wire and touch any component on the circuit board. If the beam is brighter, then connect to there. If the beam is off, that means it should not be connected at there.

  • so it's just like connecting around the resistor for another pathway right?

  • @JKL360 Yeap... kayno100 had just done it right XD

  • it worked!!!!! im 14 and i just did it

  • @kayno100 Congratulations :)

  • @kayno100 Why do youngins always feel the necessity to share their age with the internet?

  • @KingDavidANC cause i wanna show you guys who think its too hard that im only 14 and can do it...think before you talk

  • @kayno100 I think plenty before I do *everything*. Age is nothing but a simple way to let us know when our wives are gonna start "the pause" and when we're gonna croak from a heart attack. I was building computers by the time I was 7, and programming Visual Basic by the time I was 10. I don't have any desire in the world to shout it out to the whole world, except to prove a point to you.

  • @KingDavidANC maybe thats with you buddy i agree with you on that point but other people say wow this is hard and crap :)

  • @KingDavidANC I dont understand the point of arguments on Youtube. You can brag about yourself all you want, but there is no way to prove that your bragging is true. I'm not insinuating that you are lying, just wondering what the point of arguing on the internet is. Unless the argument is simply about opinions, there is absolutely no reason to fight online. Most arguments begin with opinions, but end up deteriorating into a contest of "whos better". No one can prove their superiority, why fight?

  • @jakefromdahood I'm not trying to prove my superiority *AT ALL*. I just don't understand why everyone has to brag about how old they are and what they can do. (What especially pisses me off is when people comment on classic rock songs with "I'm 13 and I love this song.")

  • So is it possible to do pot mod+this mod+buy module mod all together? I bet it would be SOOOOO maxed out then. But which are compatible together?

  • @psptechnologypsp The pod mod is a subset of this... so my mod this will max it out to the max.

  • @psptechnologypsp The pot mod would be useless if this mod were performed. The pot mod burns out the resistor, this mod bypasses it. If you added a more powerful diode, the laser might be a bit brighter, but its lifetime would be muuuuuuch longer. You can always find a fairly powerful diode in an old dvd burner. Be careful not to wreck the diode in the process though, it's a pretty common mistake.

  • @psptechnologypsp if you take a green laser and remove the crystal, leaving just the pump, you get IR light (smaller wavelength = more energy) then do this! more like a 150% better (it does burn but if you take a cheap red one apart and get the lens and glue it to the hole you can focus it to a pin point size. 200% better) that gets HOT

  • @edvinasj1 You must not place the soldering iron too long on the circuit.

  • I heard that the lasers don't last very long after modifying them, how long has yours lasted?

  • @MasterBeatBlaster Mine is still working extremely fine. Weak batteries from other non-moded green laser will also work much brighter in this moded green laser.

  • Oh i see the wire just by passes the resistors and boosts the power. Got it.

  • Comment removed

  • @scar504 well i think pretty much of all of us do ecept for you apparently.

  • Comment removed

  • @scar504 just because you have a cheap sodering iron doesnt mean that we are 40 year olds that was a miss made info on my account so ya im 19 and you should watch your mouth.

  • @scar504 So having a soldiering iron around makes you old? I remember people like you at school, the ones who said the internet was useless and only for geeks and now look. Oh and its not inventing its modifying, I suppose when your mum hands you your rusk for num nums you think she invented the wheel.

  • Comment removed

  • @scar504 Obviously you do, you replied.

  • Comment removed

  • @scar504 Your ignorance

  • Comment removed

  • @scar504 Gimmie yours and il show you how to become a Metasploit victim.

  • @revjection im shakin in me boots

  • @scar504 I take it you mean that literally or you would have sent me your address. Removing your comments is a sure sign that you do mean that literally.

  • @revjection i removed my comments because i didn't want to spam this guys video and my email address is logan1061@hotmail lmfao send me all your viruses

  • @scar504 No it isn't, now go back to bodybuilding or whatever it is you low IQ people do to make yourself feel manly.

  • @revjection Alright continue with your computer programming or whatever it is you people do to make yourselves feel asthough your lives arn't worthless

  • @scar504 Yeah because computers are pointless, oh wait what are you using now.

  • @revjection I never said anything about computers being worthless.

  • @revjection Contrary to popular belief, bodybuilding has absolutely nothing to do with a person's IQ. Neither does being blonde or wearing glasses for that matter.

  • @scar504 why are you insulting people for being older than you are? Where would we be without those 40 year olds right now? Most of the middle-aged population would not be attracted to a project such as this due to the possible breaking of the laser and the increased destructive force if the mod succeeds. You are essentially insulting a group of people who will not read your comment, not being attracted to this video in the first place.

  • would this work for a red laser from the 99 cents store

  • @masteron240 probably

  • @masteron240 Only EXPENSIVE red lasers will work. Those cheap ones like $3-$5 won't really work. As long as there is a potentiometer in the circuit, it will surely work.

  • @bulbasaurhamster so basically this is a pot mod?

  • @subeefan It's more of a bypass... much more powerful than pot moding

  • the music is killing my concentration

  • wont this work for red lasers??

  • @jhb27797 Only EXPENSIVE red lasers will work. Those cheap ones like $3-$5 won't really work. As long as there is a potentiometer in the circuit, it will surely work.

  • wat song

  • @PyroBoom96 Emerald Sword by Rhapsody

  • will it burn stuff? and where do you get the lasers from?

  • @bballlash1 Yes. It will butn thin black plastic bag only. It is only estimated 30mW from moding a 10mW laser.

  • @bballlash1 Will only brin thin black plastic bags. This laser is bought from ebay/Amazon

  • will this shorten the diode-life?

  • It depends. I had been using this laser for amost everyday (eg. shooh away birds, prank on people/passerbys...etc). It works perfectly fine. Especially a very visable beam can be seen in the dark/night skies.

  • Sorry that i wrote two times.

  • a normal green?

  • First, great Video!! second: for what is the wire? and last: Where did u buy this laser? Ebay? is it so a laser?

  • @MrJoBilly Yeah, Ebay laser. The wire id to by-pass some of the resistors present in the circult. This enable more current to pass through the laser diode.

  • Yeah, Ebay laser. The wire id to by-pass some of the resistors present in the circult. This enable more current to pass through the laser diode.

  • @bulbasaurhamster i think i may try this but i am really sketchy about this because i don't have that convienient enamel coated copper wire and i don't want to fuck up the laser. although burning stuff like ants and plastic bags might be cool.
